“I dunno, we could always ask to go out to the park, again.” She offered, running her hand through her long hair. “But we could just hang out here, or figure something else out.”
“I dunno, we could always ask to go out to the park, again.” She offered, running her hand through her long hair. “But we could just hang out here, or figure something else out.”
"The park sounds fine to me, but we'd have to ask your parents, wouldn't we?" Lucas asked quietly.
“I can, I’m sure it won’t be a big deal.” She smiled, leaning Against the table while she spoke. “I’ll go do that now.”
"Alright, let me know what they say." Lucas settled himself down on the couch to wait, humming softly to himself.
“Will do,” Melissa smiled, slipping off up the stairs alone. Quietly, she made her way towards her parents room, knocking on the door.
Lucas kept humming idly while he waited for Melissa to return. He hoped her parents would allow them to go, but he really couldn't be sure.
“Yes?” Her father called, opening the door. “Can me and Lucas go to the park, papa?” Melissa asked quickly, giving him a sweet look. Blinking in surprise, he let out a soft sigh. “Fine, go ahead.” He mumbled, pulling back from the door and shutting it. With the approval, she quickly ran back down the stairs with a smile.
Lucas looked up and grinned as well when he saw Melissa smiling. Smiling was a good sign. "They said we could go?" He asked, standing up from the couch.
Nodding quickly, she skipped over to take his hand. “Let’s go before he changes his mind!” Melissa laughed, leading him over to the door.
"Alrighty!" Lucas laughed as well, letting Melissa drag him along. "Wanna go back to the willow clearing?" He asked.
“That sounds lovely!” Melissa grinned, pausing at the end of the driveway. “Wait, do you wanna take bikes?”
"Um… sure! Why not! It's been a while since I rode a bike." Lucas grinned brighter. "Do you have big enough ones?"
“I have mine and my brother’s.” She hummed, pulling him back towards the backyard. “They’re in the shed.”
"Alrighty. Sounds good to me." Lucas allowed Melissa to drag him back to the shed and helped her get the bikes out to the sidewalk.
Having got the bikes out, she tucked a helmet under her arm, one resting on her head. "Don't forget, we don't need you cracking your skull open." She hummed, taking the helmet off of his head, putting it on his.
"Alright, alright." Lucas buckled the helmet, laughing a bit. "It could be fun thooooough~"
"Lucas!" She scolded, shoving his arm some playfully. "You aren't the one having to drag yourself to the hospital, I don't see that being fun."
Lucas sighed dramatically. "You're no fun~…" He whined playfully. "Fiiiine… I'll try my best to not die or seriously maim myself."
"Thank you~" Melissa sang, getting on to her own beach cruiser with a smile. "Come on, let's head to the park before it gets too late."
"I'm coming, darling~!" Lucas hopped onto his bike, took a second to get used to it, and rode along after Melissa.
Attempting to ignore the nickname, she looked over her shoulder with a light laugh. "You're a dork sometimes, you know that?" Melissa teased, watching in front of her carefully.
"Mhmm! I also haven't ridden a bike in years, so I'm probably gonna fall~!" He stayed a couple feet behind her, not wanting to get too close for fear of crashing.
"Well, then it's a good thing I don't have a two person bike." Laughing softly, Melissa slowed her pedaling down just slightly. "Do you need to go slower?"
"Nah, I think I'm okay. I'm just staying a bit behind you so I don't run into you. The sidewalk isn't very wide."
"I guess that's true." Melissa laughed weakly, taking in the scent of the fresh air. "It's a lovely day."
"Mhmm." Lucas drew in a few deep breaths, focusing on the ground in front of himself so he wouldn't crash.
Letting out the deep breath she had held, Melissa didn't bother to try and start a conversation. They had plenty of time later on, when they got to the park. For now she mulled in her thoughts.
They soon arrived at the park, thankfully without crashing, and Lucas hopped off his bike. "Where should we leave these?"
Snapping from her thoughts, she got off of her own bike. "We could walk them to the willow if you're alright with that." She offered with a soft smile. "Or, I think there's a bike rack over there."
"It might be hard to get them through the woods… let's just take them to the bike rack." Lucas rolled his bike over to the rack.
