Slowly, she felt her face cool down and let out a soft sigh. "I miss days like this." She whispered, biting into a second nugget. "Just being a kid again, and not worrying about anything important."

(Yep lol)
"Mhmm. It's pretty nice. Carefree, feels great." Lucas ate another chicken nugget, humming softly.

"Can't we just freeze time?" Melissa asked him softly, letting out a heavy sigh. "Because I'd do that a lot, mostly when I'm with you. Things are just best then."

Lucas blushed a bit again. "That'd be nice, yeah… maybe a few years into the future?" He shrugged and ate his last chicken nugget.

"Maybe I'll find out how. I'll be the one to do it." She hummed, going off into a day dream. Personally, Melissa had always found an interest in math and science. It intrigued her, and so badly she wanted to work with it. But of course, if her mother got involved, that wasn't going to happen.

"Mm. I bet you will." Lucas leaned back in his chair a bit and hummed softly to himself. "I really don't know what I'll do for a living… baseball, maybe?"

"Sounds like fun, I'd come to every game you ever played." She smiled softly, bumping his arm with her elbow. "If I have the money of course."

"Aww, thanks." Lucas grinned. "I'm sure I could get you some free tickets. I think players can give tickets to friends and family."

"Well, I mean I qualify for friends." She hummed, leaning on her palm once more. "I always liked baseball more than any other sport. It might be because you play."

"Mmm…" Lucas rested his chin on his knuckles. "Glad you like it, Mel. Well… it's good you're not miserable watching me play, at least." He laughed.

"Even if I hated it, I care for you. I wouldn't be miserable." She hummed back, glancing in his direction. "I'd be too happy to see you happy, out on the field."

"Awww. Love you too, Mel." He said playfully. Of course he meant it, but Melissa couldn't know that.

Giving him a sweet smile, Melissa leaned back into her seat with a sigh. "How are you feeling? Is the medicine helping?"

"A little bit, yeah. Still twinges a little when I move the wrong way, but it's mostly okay now." Lucas shrugged.

"Is there anything I can do? Do you need an ice pack, or something?" She asked, her smile dropping into a light frown.

"No, no. I'm fine, I assure you." Lucas waved his hands a bit in front of his face. "I don't need anything, Mel."

Glancing him up and down, she sighed and nodded. "If you're sure." Melissa mumbled, trying to move pass it. "Do you need more food?"

"No, I'm alright. Do you?" Lucas asked, standing himself up to take his plate to the sink to wash.

"Nope, I'm plenty full." She hummed, coming up behind him. "I can do that, it's my own house." Melissa told him, setting her plate in the sink next to him.

"But I… I don't mind washing the dishes, Mel. I do it every day." Lucas stepped out of her way. "It's really no big deal."

"But, it's my house, and you're hurt. That doesn't seem fair." Melissa mumbled with a slight pout. "Besides, I need all the brownie points I can get."

"What do you need brownie points for, Mel? It's not like I don't already like you." Lucas laughed softly, his face flushing a bit.

"Haha, very funny. But you aren't the one going to punish me here in a bit." Melissa hummed with a soft sigh. "I just want to avoid it if I can, so you can stay here."

"Well, my helping wash dishes and stuff would get us some brownie points too, wouldn't it?" Lucas asked. "I mean… proves that I'm a 'fine, upstanding young man', does it not?"

Sucking in a deep breath, she let it out in a groan. "Fine! You win." She sighed, smiling softly. "I don't understand why you want to do the dished so badly. But I'm not going to argue with you."

Lucas grinned and shrugged. "I just want to help out. And doing dishes and other work around the house is kind of a habit by now." He headed over to the sink and started washing the dishes.

Giving him a hug around the waist, she nodded gently. "Makes sense." Melissa whispered, pulling back so he could wash the dishes. "I'll let you do that, I'm going to go wipe down the table."

"Alright, Mel." Lucas watched her go with a soft sigh and kept washing the dishes. It didn't take him long, and he soon joined Melissa by the table.

Tossing the paper towel away, she had used to wipe down the table, she turned to look at him with a bright smile. “Finished?”

"Mhmm. What now?" Lucas asked, leaning against the table. "We've still got a fair few hours till nightfall."
