"Lucas…" She frowned softly, pulling his hand closer to her. "I'm more upset if I upset you. Because I told you I would tell you if you bothered me. Didn't I?" She asked him, lacing their fingers together.
"Lucas…" She frowned softly, pulling his hand closer to her. "I'm more upset if I upset you. Because I told you I would tell you if you bothered me. Didn't I?" She asked him, lacing their fingers together.
Lucas nodded again, holding onto her hand as well. Having her closer comforted him a bit. "Y-Yeah… did I upset you?"
"No, you didn't. Did I upset you?" She asked back, scooting closer to him, in attempt to give him a gentle hug. "I want to fix it if I did."
Lucas shook his head. "I-I mean, you worried me a little because I thought you were upset, but you didn't make me angry or upset at you for doing anything…"
"You're sure?" She asked softly, resting her head on his shoulder, running her thumb over the back of his hand carefully as they sat there outside together.
"Mhmm…" Lucas rested his head against Melissa's, sighing quietly. "I-I'm alright…"
"Don't sound so sure," She teased softly, trying not to take their current position the wrong way. "If you need anything, just ask me."
"Mmkay, Mel…" Lucas closed his eyes and forced himself to relax. "And you know you can do the same."
"Of course I do," She smiled, turning her head just slightly under his. "Though this, right now, is plenty." She whispered, enjoying it to the fullest extent.
"Mhmm." Lucas closed his eyes and slowly began to relax. "W-We should go in soon, Mel… your parents might get suspicious."
"Just relax, Lu. Don't worry about them, I can deal with that later." She only argued because she wasn't ready to head in, she wanted to stay here. With him besides her.
"But I don't want them to be angry with you…" Lucas looked over at the house, seeming nervous.
"They won't-" Tempted to finish her lie, she stopped herself with a heavy sigh. "…Yeah, maybe we should head inside." Melissa whispered, pulling back from the comfortable and assuring hold of his hand. "How about we grab some lunch?"
"Sure, sounds fine to me." Lucas sighed softly and stood up, following Melissa inside. He gathered himself for a moment before going in.
Wherever her parents were, they weren't down stairs. Assuming they had gone to their bedroom, Melissa relaxed slightly as she turned into the kitchen. "You get to pick what's for lunch. And you can help make it, if you want."
"Um… I really don't care, Melissa. What's your favorite?" Lucas asked, looking around the kitchen for ingredients.
"Favorite food? Don't really have one." She hummed, sitting at the kitchen table, with a leg propped up so she could lean on it. "I mean, chicken nuggets are always good." Melissa laughed, a light smile on her face.
"Well, do you have any chicken nuggets we can make?" Lucas asked, grinning playfully a bit as well.
"I mean, I think so." She smiled, pushing up from her seat. "They'd be in the freezer."
"Alrighty." Lucas dug through the freezer until he found a box of chicken nuggets. "Alright. How do we make these?" He asked.
“We need parchment paper, from under the sink.” She hummed, pointing over to the sink. “Putting it on the tray with these.”
"Alright." Lucas grabbed the aforementioned things and brought them to Melissa. "Now what?"
"We need to pre-heat the oven, to the temperature on the back of the box." Melissa informed him, picking up the box. "Do you know how to do so?"
"Uh…" Lucas went over to the oven and examined it for a few seconds before he shook his head. "Nope."
Giving him a soft smile, she tapped on a few things for pulling back. "I'll show you later," Melissa hummed, setting the box aside.
"Alright… what do we need to do now?" He asked, picking up the box to examine it curiously. "It doesn't seem too difficult…"
"We gotta put them on the tray, and then we wait for the oven to heat up." She explained, spreading the parchment paper over the metal tray.
"Okay." Lucas slid the chicken nuggets out of the package and started placing them evenly spaced from each other on the tray.
(Meanwhile: Lucas's father gets arrested :D)
(Well, as long as Lucas isn't thinking about it XD)
Having put the paper back under the sink, she watched him with a small smile. "You know more than you say." She teased, leaning on her arm.
(Yep lol. Keep distracting him and he'll be aight)
"Hmm?" Lucas looked up, confused. "Oh, no. I've made cookies before and I figured these were the same." He blushed a bit. "And I'm a little bit OCD sometimes, despite the state of my house."
