She nodded, smiling softly. "Course. He told me a couple days after you started dating."
She nodded, smiling softly. "Course. He told me a couple days after you started dating."
"Okay. I was wondering. If I could have your blessing. For the future I mean. Not now. I just really love him. I want to get married when we're older. You might think I'm too young, but really. I love him." Kyle smiled at Payton through the window as he watched them both play.
Jane turned, leaning against the counter. "I would love for him to get married. I think you're a good guy. I like you, but don't rush into things. I know you love him a lot and I think it's awesome that you know you want to commit your life to someone so soon. You've only been dating a couple months though so just give it time. You have my blessing for the future. No eloping and for the sake of my mental health and Payton's, you two are not getting married your freshman year of college."
Kyle jumped down from the counted and hugged Jane. "Thank you! I promise after college or later on. Not soon. I promise. Thank you!' he pulled away. "I'm going to play with Lily. Are you sure you don't need help? I could always as a thank you."
Jane laughed and ruffled his hair, shaking her head. “I’m fine, god knows she needs attention more than I do.” She nudged him towards the door.
"Alright, alright, thank you again!" Kyle ran outside to join Lily and Payton. "Oh, my little dragon! Did you miss me?" Kyle asked.
Lily giggled and nodded, pulling them down to where they were sitting. "Look at what Payton made me!" She said excitedly, showing him a small flower crown.
Payton smiled and fiddled with the extra dandelion in his hand, wondering what kind of question Kyle had to ask so urgently.
Kyle kneeled down and grinned. "Wow it's so beautiful! Now Lily, will you tell your better big brother who you like?"
LIly giggled and shook her head, crawling into Kyle’s lap and hugging him around the middle. “Not yet!” She mumbled into his shirt.
Payton gazed down at the flower in his hands, lost in thought. What if we went to college across the country from each other? Aren’t long distance relationships bad? I don’t want us to drift apart..
Kyle giggled. "Why won't you tell me?" Kyle looked over to Payton and frowned. "Hey, Payton are you okay?" Kyle pecked his lips and laid down on the grass.
Lily glanced over when Kyle asked Payton if he was okay. She frowned and walked over to him, giving him a gentle kiss on the cheek before clinging to his arm and watching him to make sure he was okay.
Payton broke out of his trance and smiled, nodding. “I’m fine!” He replied, making it sound pretty believable as he patted Lily on the head. “Don’t worry about me, Lils, I’m okay.”
Kyle knew something was up after all that was the look he wore all-day long. Kyle smiled and kissed Payton. "I love you," he whispered.
“Love you too.” Payton smiled, leaning against him a little. “I don’t want you to be late.” He said, referring to preparing for his gift.
“Alright, love you, love you Lily!” He stood up and waved good bye. “Good bye Jane!” He yelled before leaving the house. Meeting me at the park right? He texted Tyler.
Payton waved with Lily, taking her back inside and going straight to his room. He collapsed onto the bed and rolled over onto his back. Homework or nap?
(Are we doing the thing with Tyler and Payton?)
(ye)
Kyle waited for a response to make sure he was free. He walked back to his house to pick up the guitar. Kyle sat in his room practicing the notes he had already learned.
Tyler texted back that he was on his way and left his house, walking to the park. He brought some of his books and papers with him in case he had time after or before the meeting.
Once he saw the text Kyle packed up his things and started walking to the park. He ran past Payton's house making sure he was far enough before he started walking again. He got the park and sat down next to kyle. "Hey, I want you to tell me if this is okay. I've been practicing. Kyle played the first verse and the chorus. "So?"
Tyler looked up with a soft smile. He listened to Kyle and nodded. “Just keep practicing. It’s all technically right, you just need to loosen up a bit. Don’t scrunch up your shoulders that much and keep your fave and fingers relaxed. You’re doing great though, don’t stress about it.” He told him. “Payton’s a sucker for stuff like this.”
"Really? I had no idea… I just want to give him gift from the heart instead of giving him something physical. Something's been up with him lately. I asked him about the future and all of sudden he's distant. Like today he rushed me out of his house. Usually, he would ask me today stay longer. I don't know. Am I being paranoid?" Kyle scratched his head and sighed playing random chords.
Tyler cringed slightly, running his hand through his hair. “Ahh..I’m probably the worst person to ask for relationship advice. I mean..throughout my whole senior year I thought about what I would do after college and where I would work and live and all that. Now I’m just trying to pass my classes and get a decent amount of sleep each night.” He laughed, “You two are happy now, right? Just focus on that I guess..and he doesn’t know what colleges he’s gotten into yet. He might just be worried about that.”
Kyle laughed slightly. "Well, thank you anyway. For listening at least and teaching me how to play this song. Why are you guys back from college?" he asked as he started to strum his guitar. "Is it alright, If I use your guitar until I buy one?"
“Spring break is next week so Rowan and some more of our friends and I decided to skip classes this week and come home early.” He explained, leaning back against the bench. “Sure, I don’t use it that much anymore.”
"Why not? Classes?" Kyle relaxed his back and fingers like he said to do. He sang the words in his head making sure they matched up with his guitar.
“Yeah, I made it hard for myself though so I can’t complain.” Tyler replied, watching him play. “What are you thinking about studying?”
"I don't know. I have a photographic memory so I can pretty much do whatever I want and be good at it. Probably be successful in it too. I wanted to tell Payton that I got into Harvard, but I decided I should wait." Kyle sighed. "Music is different, it's all about the muscle memory I guess."
“Oh, right, he told me you were crazy smart. If you want music advice, go to Rowan. He’s so infuriatingly perfect at every instrument. Anyway,” he laughed softly, “I’m guessing you’re going to Harvard then?”
"I asked Rowan if he was good and he said you were the one who knew all about music. That lier. I'm going to have to text him when I get home." he stopped strumming. "I don't know…I want to go wherever Payton goes. I know h's thinking about us being apart in college, but all we've talked about since we were young is that we want to go to the same college. Now it's like he doesn't even want to be with me. His mind seems somewhere else…"
“I’m better at guitar and that’s it. He’s practically a prodigy in piano.” Tyler listened to him, frowning a little. “No offense, but that’s not a good idea. He’s just going to feel like shit if you turn down a chance to go to Harvard.”
"He doesn't know. I don't want to be apart from him or else I won't get to see him and he's going to fall in love with another guy and then I'm going to be left alone. Then some how he's going to fine some way to pin this on me and I'll be the one apologizing again. He's probably thinking about it right now. I know he is." Kyle scratched his head. "I'm sorry for talking about this. I know you don't want to be involved."
