(Wellll, what would you say to them coming in a couple minutes here?)
Lifting her gaze from the board after moving her piece, she gave him a sweet smile. "That you are," She hummed, booping the tip of his nose.

(Suuuuure that could be fun lol)
Lucas flushed a bit and froze for a second. "Um… cool." Once he gathered himself again, he pushed his car along and picked up a final two pegs.
(Do… do you know what fun is? XDD)
"Good gracious," Laughing, Melissa sat back in her seat. "You've got a lot of kids. Lucky you." She teased, glancing at the wall clock with a sigh. "Time flies…"
(Yeeees it's torturing our characters aha)
"I have all the babies." Lucas looked over at the clock as well. "Are your parents coming back soon?" He asked.
(I mean… true.)
Her face dropped, and she picked up her phone to check it. Yup, 3 missed calls, and a dozen missed messages. "I'm screwed!" She panicked, pushing up off the couch.
"Something wrong, Mel?" Lucas asked, standing up with her and looking worried. "What happened?"
"I missed a dozen calls, they're coming now. Remember I told you I was suppose to be at my friend's house? Well guess what, I'm not!" She squeaked, stumbling over to the window to look outside.
"…Oh. Say you… came back early?" He suggested weakly. "Hell, use me as an excuse if you want. I think your parents like me. You can say I called you because I was having trouble with my dad and brought me here. The bandages will be obvious anyways."
"I… Lu." She whispered, pushing away from the window giving him a look. "If they went to get me, Laura would tell them I wasn't there the entire time, because she got sick. I'm in deep, because I ignorantly didn't call to tell them where I was going."
"Call Laura and ask her to cover for you?" Lucas suggested weakly. "I-I dunno what to tell you, Mel… I'm sorry."
"I- why didn't I think this through?" She asked herself, head in her hands. "Honestly, just kill me now. I don't want to suffer through what they're going to do to me." She whispered, shuffling over to the couch and dropping down next to him.
"Hey, I won't let them do anything to you… we can say I called you when you were on your way to Laura's and I needed you to come over immediately?" He offered. "Again, the bandages should vouch for that enough… if I'm going to be staying here a while anyways, we're gonna have to explain the real situation at some point."
Sniffling in a deep breath, she lifted her head up to meet his gaze. "You'd really do this for me?" She asked softly, wiping the beginnings of tears from her eyes. If she was being honest, she had needed him more than he needed her in the past couple of hours. She found it odd he kept feeling like a burden.
"Yeah, of course… like I said, I'm sure we'll need to tell them anyways. It's no big deal." Lucas smiled weakly. He wasn't looking forward to the conversation with Melissa's parents, but he knew it needed to happen.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she buried her face into the her own arms. "You're a lifesaver. I don't know what I would do without you here." She whispered holding onto him a little tighter.
"I'm not doing anything special, Mel… but I'm glad you think so." Lucas returned the hug, sighing softly. "You'll have to help me though. I can't guarantee how well I can get through that conversation."
"You won't have to say anything. Unless you want to. I might need backup here and there, but I promise you I won't make things awkward or hard." Melissa whispered, taking in his scent with a smile.
Lucas nodded. "Thanks, Mel…" He looked up when he heard a car in the driveway. "Might want to prepare yourself."
Her whole body tensed, and she pulled back from him. "How am I suppose to prepare myself?" She asked quickly, mostly to herself. Her heart rate sped up, and she grew incredibly nervous.
"Shh, it's okay… calm down, Mel. I'll be here the whole time. I won't leave you here alone." He pulled her close again and held her tightly to reassure her.
Unable to help herself, at the sound of her parents voice she spoke quickly. "Promise me we'll both get jobs, and move out as soon as possible. Please, I hate this feeling. I can't stay here." She begged him, looking up into his blue eyes. "Please?"
"Yes, of course Mel. As soon as possible." He quickly pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head before separating himself from her to look up at her parents as they came in.
Face flushing, she sunk lower in her seat hearing the door click open. At seeing both teenagers on the couch, Melissa's mother went dead cold. "Where the hell have you been!?" Her mother yelled when she came through the door. Storming over to the couch, she had her hands on her hips. "We've been all over creation looking for you! And it turns out you're here with some boy!" Mrs. Brennahan yelled out, not bothering to notice who it really was.
Lucas's heart was racing now as well, and he couldn't help but feel a sinking pit of guilt in his stomach even though he hadn't done anything wrong. Lucas stood up, doing his best to keep from trembling. The bloodied bandages were still stuck to his head. "M-Ma'am, let me explain–"
When Melissa cowered under her, she was about to go into her own explanation. Until Lucas came to save her. "What could you possibly do to explain the situation young man? You two are here, alone in my house." The woman snarled, pressing her index finger to Lucas's chest accusingly.
Lucas flushed a bit, his heart still racing. "I-I had to call Melissa to come get me because I got hurt, ma'am. I really mean no harm, I swear… it's not Melissa's fault."
Jaw set in place, she walked around the couch so she could stand directly in front of him. "If you had the ability to call my daughter, why didn't you call 911? Hmm? Explain that to me." Melissa froze in place, barely able to think of a response. Pushing up off the couch, she looked to Lucas. "Mami, he couldn't. His father would get mad."
"M-My father has a… a policy… when it c-comes to calling the police…" Lucas cowered a little, definitely trembling now. "I-I'm not allowed… or he… he'd do worse…" He replied weakly.
So badly Melissa wanted to pull him into a hug, it pained her physically to watch him like this. "Please mother, Lucas didn't do anything wrong." She begged, coming up to his side. "He needed help, I couldn't have abandoned him." She spoke softly, slipping her hand in his. Her mother pulled back, glancing over to her husband. "We'll discuss this later. Melissa, go help your father."
Lucas glanced around anxiously, not entirely sure what to do. He didn't think he or Melissa would be punished too severely, but they'd likely have to answer more questions, which would be punishment enough.
