Yeah, but you're also a cis guy. If someone went up to a trans man and kept going "hey, girl, how are you?" especially when they're obviously transitioning and like, clearly presenting as masculine, that's going to hurt like hell. Or if someone has repeatedly stated their pronouns, or has a little pin or something and you ignore it and keep purposely calling them by the wrong pronouns, it's invalidating. It makes it seem like you don't think they're worth the simple respect of using the right pronouns.
