"Um… pretty hungry, I guess." Lucas shrugged. "I ate yesterday, but that was the first time in a while. I think my body is still angry."
"Um… pretty hungry, I guess." Lucas shrugged. "I ate yesterday, but that was the first time in a while. I think my body is still angry."
"Well, as long as you're here you'll eat pretty good." Melissa informed him, pressing her lips to his cheek. "Trust me, I won't let you go hungry."
Lucas blushed and nodded. "Yeah… I figured as much. You have to make sure that you eat as well, though. It's good for you."
"Yeah, I know." Melissa hummed, glancing over her shoulder to look at him. "I'll eat. I promise you, I will." She told him, pouring some of the mixture into the hot pan.
Lucas nodded again, standing beside her to watch the process curiously. "Good. If I'm going to be well fed here, you will too."
Turning away from the pan, she took his hand in her own. "I will, and I know you will make sure that happens." Melissa smiled leaning back against the counter. Pulling him closer, she gave him a slight smile.
"Yep." Lucas looked down at Melissa, resisting the strong urge to kiss her. "How long do pancakes take to cook?" He asked.
“Couple minutes.” She hummed looking into his eyes. “Are you still hurting? I think we have some Advil pills.” Melissa offered, glancing over his shoulder to the stove top.
"Um… Yeah, everything kinda hurts. Where's the Advil?" He asked. It had been years since he'd taken any pain medication.
Melissa pulled away from him, striding out of the kitchen. “I’ll grab it!” She chirped out, coming to the bathroom. Opening the medicine cabinet, she scanned her eyes through the shelves, until she found the Advil.
Lucas watched the pancakes while he waited for Melissa to return, making sure they didn't catch fire or anything.
Melissa hummed, pulling it out of the cabinet. Quickly coming back, she tossed him the small bottle, before reaching over for a spatula to flip the pancakes over with. “Good job, you didn’t let them burst into flames.” She teased him.
Lucas rolled his eyes, easily catching the bottle with one hand. Baseball made him pretty good at catching. "How many do I take?" He asked. "I'm not too familiar with pain meds."
“Well there’s this thing called directions on the back.” She joked, turning to him after flipping their breakfast. “But two tops. No more, or you could get sick.”
"Alright, alright… I told you I'm not familiar with these." Lucas sighed and got two pills out of the bottle and got some water to take them with. "When do they start working?" He asked.
“I don’t really know, but It’ll take a couple minutes… wait have you already taken them?” She asked quickly, glancing over to him with his water glass.
"Uh… Yeah. Is… is that bad?" Lucas asked nervously, setting down his glass of water. "Why do you sound worried…?"
"It doesn't matter now, you probably should have eaten first though." She sighed, rubbing her temple. 'How could I forget something so simple!?' She yelled at herself, glancing up to him. "I'm sorry, I just spaced."
Lucas went pale, now worried about it. "Am I gonna die?" He asked nervously, fidgeting with his hands a bit.
(I take pills on an empty stomach all the time lol I know I shouldn't but I've always been okay)
(Oof, you really shouldn't, but like I can't stop you. :P)
Melissa shifted her gaze back to him fully, and felt her heart shatter. "No! No, it's just not good for you." She said quickly, taking his hands in her own. "You'll be fine, I promise you."
Lucas still seemed uneasy, now toying with Melissa's hands instead of his own. "What's gonna happen to me?" He asked nervously.
"Nothing Lu. Your stomach might be a little funny, but not much other than that." She assured him, feeling her heart leap in her chest when he fiddled with her hands.
He nodded, not much reassured, but less terrified than before. "If I eat soon, will I be okay?" He asked.
Giving him a light smile, she nodded. "Yeah, you'll be alright." She whispered, sliding her arms around his neck in a quick hug. So quick, that she had pulled away before he could react. "If you get a plate, you can have the first two."
"But you gotta eat too, Mel… if there's two going, we should both get one of them." Lucas argued. He hugged her back, not wanting the contact to end.
"I can make more," She argued back, pulling the pan off the stove. Despite him holding her, she was still managing to function decently. "Could you still get a plate?"
"Alright, alright… I don't need two pancakes at once though. I can only eat one at a time." Her reluctantly released Melissa and retrieved a plate.
Smiling softly, she rolled her eyes in a teasing fashion. "But I can't make more if I'm eating, you can't argue with that." She hummed, scooping both pancakes onto the spatula.
Lucas sighed softly. "You'll probably have made more before I finish the first one anyways, Mel." He protested.
"Then I'd eat them for myself, simple as that." She smiled back, feeling rather high and mighty in the moment. Sliding the food onto the plate in his hands, she pulled the spatula back with a smirk.
