"Hey at least were're in the right time period." Tempest chuckled as he filled his cup up with fanta.
"Yeah but sadly no magic beings so…this place is kinda boring." Ember responded
"We should probably go back in the home to investigate." Tempest responded as their name was called. The both got the four separate orders and came back to the table
When they came back the two were still talking, sipping cautiously at the drinks and comparing things they had noticed were similar to where they were from. "The people look the same though, and the houses are very similar," Felix said, drumming his fingers on the table and pausing his sentence when they came with the food. "Thanks," He said instead, listening to his stomach grumble almost as soon as he set eyes on the food on the tray.
Tempest and Ember immediately started to dig in. "mmm this universe still has good fast food." Tempest said through a bit of burger. Ember nodded in agreement and munched on some fries
Cossett nodded, taking her food and hesitantly trying a fry. Her eyes widened and she smiled, nodding in agreement before digging into her food. "This food is so much better than what we're used to Felix." She assured, sliding a fry to her more hesitant companion, "Try it."
Felix nodded, taking the fry and popping it into his mouth, nodding as well. "These are amazing," He said, sliding his food over and giving her a fry in return before calming his rumbling stomach and digging into his food, "Is all food this good here?" He asked, having the manners to talk between bites.
"If it's like what we're used to then yes I believe so." Ember responded. Tempest on the other hand was fiddling with a touch screen device he pulled from his pocket out with his free hand. He sent a shock through it and it started to work once more. It turned out to be nothing more than an upgraded cell phone "Messages aren't going through." he mumbled in a worried tone
Felix nodded, keeping a mental note of the fact before tuning out everyone else and chowing down. His leg bounced against the floor as he ate though, naturally on higher alert thanks to being used to people trying to attack when he was eating.
"Is that bad?" Cossett asked, already done with her own food. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a coin-like object, flicking it and watching it spin on the table. It was no bigger than a quarter and about the same thickness, but when it stopped spinning on the table, tiny engravings were visible, scrolling words and designs in circles around the objects edge and repeating circles going in towards the center.
Tempest gave a little sigh "Well I would like to know if my friends are alright" He then looked to the coin-like object "Pretty impressive…what's it's function?"
Ember on the other hand leaned back in her seat and sipped on her soda, already finished with her food as well
Cossett smiled and slid the disc to him, "I'll let you try to figure that out." The coin-like medallion had two functions, one as a key for a box back in their universe and also as a tiny weapon. It wasn't lethal at all but could be used for a distraction when the sharp blades were popped out of the sides and it was thrown at someone.
Tempest fiddled around with it and pretty quickly discovered the blades. Tempest smiled and told them "Neat but I can improve it's functionality if you wish." He looked up to Cossett for when he was working on something was when he was happiest. "Does it come back to you if you throw it?"
Cossett looked intrigued at his offer, tipping her head to the side curiously. "It doesn't, no." She said, wondering what he was going to do to it to improve how it worked. As long as he didn't make it do anything crazy, she did still need it to work as a key.
Felix just let out a silent sigh as Cossett's attention was turned to Tempest and settled into his chair, knowing that talking with Cossett about anything technology related was a surefire way to waste hours of time. He wasn't going to mention that though, knowing that it wouldn't stop her from ignoring his warning and talking away anyway.
Tempest typed a command on his cell phone and hiding the view from anyone else with a fast food bag he started to 3d print an electronic device. He then tugged a hairband from Ember's wrist with a little "Hey!" from her and he connected the hairband to the little device "Hold this if you ever throw it and it'll come back, even if it's wedged into something."
Cossett's eyes lit up and she looked over the device, wanting to test it out immediately, "So I just hold onto that and my medallion will come back?" She was more than curious and wanted to know how it worked, with her first guess being the magic that Ember and Tempest used. "Does it matter how far away the things are from each other?" She asked, trying to limit her questions to no avail, "How does it work?"
"It's just my version of science. You guys are a tad more advanced by this is just a recall device that'll have a range of 45 ft and will recall what it's been connected to if you give it a little squeeze." Tempest explained
"Oh gods you've got him started." Ember chuckled as Tempest continued to explain the components inside the device
"I think they got each other started." Felix chuckled, crossing his arms and leaning back in his seat as he listened to his friend get equally as wrapped up in technology talk, "Well, we might be here a while."
"Are there ways to connect it to other things?" She asked, completely wrapped up in talking to Tempest and figuring out more about the device, "Can it be connected to multiple things? Are you able to switch what it's connected to or do you have to make a new device for each item you want to be able to recall?"
"Yeah it has to be a type of metal though." Tempest told Cossett as he seemed he was enjoying explaining things related to tech. "If one of the items it's connected to gets at least ten feet from you then you'll be able to recall it."
Ember Just tied her hair back again with her remaining hairband and Then looked to Felix "So Felix what do you enjoying when you guys aren't fighting to stay alive?"
Cossett listened intently, slurping down the rest of her drink and nodding as she asked even more questions, "So nothing wooden would connect to it, or cloth unless there was metal built into it? How much metal does there have to be for it to be able to connect?"
He thought for a moment and shrugged, smiling a bit, "I would say sleeping and eating since that's what I normally do, but I suppose you're talking about hobbies." It took him a while to remember what he liked doing before his life switched to fighting to stay alive, "I like to swim and play gambling games, and I guess working with animals if you count that. What about you? What do you do in the time you're not busy fighting that Zerack guy?"
