@Fraust

Lucas nodded, hugging her back. "Alright… we might want to do that soon anyways, but that can wait. If we're lucky, he'll be asleep."

Pulling back, she smiled up at him. "Don't worry, we have some time." She hummed, pulling him along once more down the street. Glancing up, she saw a small diner. With another smile, she pointed it out. "Let's go and get you something to eat."

@Fraust

"If you insist, Mel…" Lucas sighed, letting her take him into the restaurant. He felt his pocket with his free hand to make sure he had some money on him.

@Fraust

"So do I." Lucas looked over the menu, tapping one foot on the ground nervously. This felt an awful lot like a date.

@Fraust

"Mel… you know I'd feel bad for making you do that." Lucas sighed, looking up at her weakly. She was right, of course, but that wouldn't make him feel any better about it.

"You know I'd just find a way to pay for you. Or get you cash if you wouldn't let me, so why argue?" Booping his nose, she adjusted resting her face onto her fist. Her green eyes were bright, her smile the same. "So don't feel bad, I want to do this."

@Fraust

Lucas groaned softly, hiding his face behind his menu. He hated accepting help from anyone, and Melissa knew that full well. "But Mel." He whined, his voice a bit muffled from the menu.

"Come on, we're best friends. If you accept help from me, I'll accept help from you sometime." She told him, holding her hand out to him with a smile. "You know I'm bad at that. Deal?" Offering, her smile morphed into a slight smirk.

@Fraust

Lucas sighed and hesitated for several seconds. "Oh… alright." He reluctantly agreed, shaking her hand and letting his menu fall to the table. "I'll get you back for this."

Clicking her tongue, she pulled her hand from his. Resting it on the table, she glanced over her own menu. "Sure you will," She hummed, seeming too strong headed to admit this could go bad on her end.

@Fraust

"I will! Just you wait." Lucas picked up his menu again. I guess I'll just get pasta or something… It's cheap, it's good, and it's been a while. He folded the menu and set it back down.

@Fraust

"Um… I'm thinking just pasta or something?" He shrugged. "What about you?" He asked, resting his chin on the knuckles of one hand.

@Fraust

"You have to eat too!" Lucas insisted. "It's good for you! Maybe you could share the pasta with me?" He suggested.

"Hold on, you're already using your help card?" Surprised, she felt a little more confident about it. She could make herself eat something, without him able to use it again. "You sure you want to use it now?"

@Fraust

"Or, maybe, just a thought, you could just… oh, I dunno… eat? I know how it feels to not eat enough. I wouldn't wish that upon you." Lucas explained. "I'm not using any metaphorical card. I'm being a good friend."

"I'm not hungry though, I ate before you came by." Lying straight to his face, she tucked hair behind her ear. She was purposely choosing not to eat, it wasn't like she was unable. Though she knew he wouldn't understand that, exactly.

@Fraust

Lucas looked slightly hurt. He knew her tells better than anyone. "Mel, please… don't lie to me. I'm here to help, okay? To the best of my ability."

@Fraust

"Is there anything that I can do?" He asked as he stacked their menus and pushed them to the edge of the table so they wouldn't be in the way.

@Fraust

Lucas gently rested his hand on hers and sighed as well. "Please tell me if there's anything I can do, okay?"

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I'll tell you when I think of something." She smiled, feeling secure with his hand on hers. "But for now, we can just relax. How is everything going? I know your dad is being… difficult, but besides that."

@Fraust

"Not great, if I'm being honest, but I'm alright. It was hard not seeing you or having baseball games to vent, but you know…" He shrugged.

@Fraust

"I didn't wanna bother you… I figured you'd be busy or something, I dunno." Lucas rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand, feeling a bit guilty. "Sorry… I'm probably just being stupid."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"No, not stupid. You aren't stupid. Some things you do though, aren't so smart." Telling him this, their waitress came up with bright smiles and a peppy tone. "Hey there! I'm Lilly, and I'll be your waitress for this afternoon. Can I start you two of with some drinks?" Lilly chirped, ready to write down their orders. "A water will be fine." Melissa told her, glancing back to Lucas. "And for you?"
