He was silent for a few minutes. "Do you have any idea why Emma would betray us?"

Ruby sighed, “I don’t know. I’ve been her friend since forever and I don’t know.”

"Well I've known her for a few days, and I don't know either."

(Heya, sorry I've been tied up for a bit…)
Zack began making the potion. It wasn't the most thrilling process, if he was being honest. Minute after painstaking minute he worked and worked, trying to keep reactions steady and adding just enough of this or that. Ms. Hawkins came by to check his progress. Every once in a while, Vix whimpered. Zack did his best to comfort her when he had a spare second.

About half an hour later, he finished. The result was a thick light-blue liquid that left the inside of the flask clean as he swirled it around. He held it up for Ms. Hawkins to see.

Ms. Hawkins nodded, “Good job.”

Sam huddled against the wall, closing their eyes as hallucination after hallucination came after them. So when they heard the patter of footsteps coming closer to them and the small chatter, they assumed that it was just another illusion sent by Jasper. Just let me die.

Aidan winced again as he walked. "Are you sure Zack is the one we should trust here? I feel like you're trusting him too quickly. Emma really doesn't seem like the type to betray someone."

Ruby froze, “You’re right.” Ruby sighed, making a turn away from the forest.

Aidan limped after her. "I hope you know where you're going."

Zack stuck a cork on top and put it in his satchel, "I'll save this for the right moment. Not going to good me do any good here."

He whistled for Vix to follow him as he left the room. Fishing in his pocket for his phone, Zack dialed Ruby again and waited.

(iM SORRY, SCHOOL.)
“No I really don’t actually-“ Ruby said, cut off by the ring of her phone, she sighed and answered, “Hello?”

"Ms. Vitalia, I've noticed some suspicious activity in the area of campus you are in. Please, proceed with caution. Our security cameras have all gone black since about thirty minutes ago. Go back to the dorms," Phoenix replied, then stopping the call. (sam's brother)

“What now?” Ruby said, frowning. “Ah… he hung up.”

"Who was that?" Aidan asked, looking back at her.

“I… have no idea. But according to that guy, it’s dangerous here.”

"So we're trusting a random voice that called you?" Aidan shook his head and continued to walk.

“Uh, I guess.” Ruby said, then she paused, “Yeah that doesn’t sound that good.” She stopped walking, she spotted someone (Sam) huddled against the wall.

Sam's eyes were wide open, and yet they only saw fires and demons, with the occasional tsunami. So when Ruby and Aidan came by, they assumed that the two were just more figments of their imagination, and drew the small dagger at their side, preparing to stab the two through their hearts.

“That person is totally going to stab us.” Ruby whispered to Aidan, eyeing Sam warily.

Aidan backed away slightly, raising his arms. "Listen…buddy." He decided on using 'buddy', not able to figure out if this person was a boy or girl. "Please….don't stab us."

"Leave, Jasper. Haven't you caused enough damage?" Sam said bitterly, slashing the knife in the air. One slice… and the hallucinations would disappear, like they always did.

“Jasper?” Ruby repeated, furrowing her eyebrows, “Neither of us are whom you speak of.”

"No. Stop! Haven't you lied to me enough already?" Sam yelled, frustrated.

“This person is crazy,” Ruby muttered to Aidan.

Sam suddenly felt the hallucinations being purged out of their system, and their eyes rolled back in their hand, and a red smoke erupted from their pores. "'If I die, I die in my sleep,'" they muttered, right before they fell unconscious.

“Um.” Ruby said, looking at Sam then Aidan, then at Sam, then at Aidan.
