(Ah okie, I’m just gonna wait for Puffy Poffy.)
Aidan shrugged at Ruby. "Don't look at me. I don't know what kind of creepy sh** that was."
Ruby had been in another call when Zack had called, so he left it alone for now and went started off towards the hospital. That's where they were, last he had heard from Ruby.
“Stop cussing,” Ruby complained, lightly hitting his forehead. Then she looked at Sam, “Should we bring… h… them to the infirmary?”
He shrugged again. "I guess that would be the right thing to do…even though…they…almost killed us."
“I’ll burn them if they do that again,” Ruby muttered, and tiny sparks hitting the ground.
She brushed some hair back with her hand, “So bringing them to the infirmary it is,” She looked at Aidan and his hurt side, “I’ll do it by myself, just have to drag them their, right? Should be easy enough.”
It was not easy enough.
Sparks came from her hair, Ruby was tired. “I never knew that it was that far from the hospital. Well we’re nearly there…” Ruby said to herself, looking st the hospital entrance.
Aidan limped alongside her. "Are you sure you don't need help?"
“No no, I’m fine.” Ruby said, catching more of her breadth, “We’re nearly there anyways.”
After a little more dragging, she actually made it to the entrance. “So do I have to… drag this body… in.”
"We can probably find someone here to bring them in on a stretcher." He adjusted his shirt so that his wound couldn't be seen. Aidan made his way to the front desk, pointing back at Ruby and the other person. "Hi. My…friend is injured. We're gonna need someone to get a stretcher."
The front desk lady nodded and called someone. Then go Aidan, she said, “They’ll be here in a minute.”
Aidan nodded before returning to Ruby, trying to hide his limp. "They said someone will be here in a minute."
Zack finished his jog and found himself at the infirmiry door. With Vix at his side he entered, and right away Vix went haywire, yipping and running like mad.Zack finally got ahold of her, and while he was putting on her leash (which he very rarely did…) he noticed Ruby and Aidan, with someone lying unconcious nearby. Zack couldn't tell by a glance if they were male or female.
He waved and walked over, Vix still straining on her leash.
Aidan noticed Zack walking towards them. He waved, wincing slightly. "Hey Zack."
“Hey,” Ruby said.
"So what's up? Where's Emma?" He asked, then slowed himself. If Aidan was hurt, and Ruby was sensible, they probably didn't find her. Inwardly cursing himself for is own aggresiveness, he raised a finger, took a breath, and began again.
"What happened?"
"Well we just turned the corner and this kid starting trying to stab us." Aidan explained, gesturing to the body Ruby was holding.
Zack raised an eyebrow, then looked at the kid. He…. no wait, she? They were unconcious, seemingly peaceful if it weren't for the scuffed up clothing they were wearing.
"They attacked you? Why are they asleep?"
Aidan shrugged. "I don't know. They just…passed out right after saying something about dying in their sleep."
"Well, okay then. That certainly shakes things up."
Zack noticed Aidan wince as he re-balanced himself. He almost moved by instinct to help, but thought the better of it.
"How are you holding up? You both look like hell."
“Do I really?” Ruby asked, smoothing her hair.
"Well, not as bad as Aidan. But yes."
Zack unfastened his satchels clasps and fished for the beaker. He looked to Ruby as he felt around. "Got any vials, Miss Chemistry? I have something for you two."
Ruby smoothed her hair and her clothing, “I don’t think…”
She felt her jacket pocket. “Okay um what the heck. Why do I have a vial… in my pocket.” she muttered
She looked up and held the goal out, “I have one.”
Zack took it and poured some of the beaker's contents into it, then handed it back.
"Save it for a rainy day. Or a shootout. It'll boost your natural powers," he explained. He nodded towards Aidan, "I don't know what it would do for you. For her it'll probably just make the flames a whole lot larger and hotter. For you and me, I've yet to test."
“Isn’t that… illegal?” Ruby asked, warily looking at the vial in Zack’s hand. There was no way Ruby was going to handle something illegal.
Zack shrugged, "Usage is. Creation is. Possesion? It should be. But I haven't seen anything that says you can't carry it around. Silly, I know, but you can rest easy knowing that your hands are clean until you drink it. But by that point you won't care."
Ruby looked warily at him and sighed, she took it and put it in her pocket. She sighed and smoother her hair more, “Do I look worse or better?”
Zack smiled kindly, thankful for her trust in him. Despite the strange looks she gave him from time to time, it was good to have her around.
"Better. Definitely better than our friend here," Zack said, nudging the unconcious person with his foot, "They look so gaunt. And sad."
Ruby nodded but still continued to comb her hair with her fingers. “Well they did look scared and angry when they saw us, and they called us by another name…”
Ruby tilted her head at Sam, scanning their features and clothing, trying to remember what they had said.
Sam turned over in their sleep, coughing slightly. A spurt of red smoke came out, and they were finally able to completely rest.
Zack noted it instantly.
"Red smoke. Fuck, was that a hallucinogen? Or was that…."
The kid turned slightly, and snuggled closer to the ground, apparently a lot more at ease than before. So either that was the aftermath of some powerful hallucinogen, or something else. "Magic, maybe?"
