Tasper glanced at Zisel. She looked a bit worried about him. He shrugged one shoulder. The master glared at him. "Don't look at her, boy. Look at me."

"Sorry," Tasper spat, his teeth grinding. He was so close to snapping at him. Would it be worth the punishment? Maybe.

so like a lot of inventions wouldn’t have been created without black people so are we just pretending that they were invented by white people or

(I'd been thinking about that and I decided that lets just have society kind of run down and dystopian-like. A larger imbalance of wealth. So the elite people who own slaves are wealthy and white, but everyone else (white or otherwise) is super broke and the economy isn't that great)

Zisel glanced at her friend, biting her lip. She took her hand and squeezed it.

Tasper sighed. "You don't have to be so snappy towards her, geez," he mumbled under his breath.

Ashlynn silently glared at her father before she lead Zisel out of the room. "I still can't believe you own slaves." She said with disgust.

She flinched. If she heard that, her father almost certainly would’ve as well. However, she just dipped her head and slowly headed for the exit.

“Shh,” She shushed, looking back. “Besides, it’s not like I’m head of the house.”

The man looked ready to kill someone. He approached Tasper, his form looming over him, but stopped himself before he reached out. "Don't backtalk me. Go. No meals for three days." He pointed towards the door.

Tasper shrugged again, even though inwardly he breathed a huge sigh of relief. He headed for the door, frowning.

Once they made it to Zisel's bedroom, Ashlynn closed the door before turning to Zisel. "I can't believe we're doing nothing about this. These slaves earned a better life, I man what did they ever do to us." She ranted.

“My father would kill me if I got caught doing something about it,” she said nervously, looking around. “He’s not a kind man.”

She bent down and whispered to her. "Rumors say that there is a rebellion growing in the north. Maybe we can sneak off and join it." She said softly with a little hesitation.

“I can’t just leave everyone here behind,” she whispered back. “What would he do to Harriet? Is there a branch here?”

" Maybe we can sneak them with us." SHe suggested and shrugged.

“We’d get caught,” she argued, “that many people. Find a branch here and we can talk about it then,” she said stubbornly.
