He shrugged again. "No, I…"
He shrugged again. "No, I…"
Jade sighed and looked up at him. ”It’s ok.” She knew he was scared but she was smart enough to not say anything about it.
He shrugged his shoulders again, shaking his head.
Jade brushed some of his hair back out of his eyes. ”You’re not alone. You don't have to deal with this alone.”
Killian shrugged his shoulders slightly. He shook his head.
Jade gave him a reassuring smile and continued to hold him. ”I’m here for you.” she promised.
Killian held onto her. "Thank you." He said softly.
She nodded and rested her head on his shoulder. ”No one deserves what you’ve been through.” she sighed.
He shrugged a little bit. "Maybe." He replied simply.
”No.” Jade said firmly. ”No one deserves that. There is no ”maybe” in this. I don't care who, no one should have to go through that.” she told him, holding him a little tighter.
He held onto her, taking a deep breath. "Alright. Thank you."
”You’re my friend.” Jade said without thinking. ”I would help you with anything. Especially after all you've done for me.”
Killian blinked down at her in surprise.
Jade blushed as she realized what she said but didn't apologize or try to correct herself. She had been honest when she said that statement… ”Except committing a crime.” she amended slightly.
He let out a dry laugh. "No shit, Brainwave." he replied, shaking his head a little bit.
She smiled a little at hearing him laugh briefly, chuckling herself when he used her hero name. ”Just clearing that up.” she smirked, teasing softly. ”Besides, Hex, you don't need my help with that.”
He rolled his eyes. "Damn right I don't need your help with that."
She chuckled again, pulling back a little so she could look at him but not fully letting go.
He looked down at her.
She gave him a calm reassuring smile as she looked at his eyes, trying to gauge his mood from them. Though her own gaze flickered to his lips briefly before she looked back up.
Killian caught the look, and he smirked a little bit. "Is that what you're after, miss Jade?"
Jade tilted her head to the side innocently. ”I’m not ”after” anything, Killian. I was concerned about you when I found out that your father had escaped jail.” she said honestly.
He let out a soft chuckle. "Mm. Alright."
Jade sighed a little and shook her head slightly in an attempt to push away the drowsiness that was creeping up on her.
Killian sighed softly. "Thank you for telling me about him, though."
Jade nodded. ”It felt like the right thing to do.” she shrugged a little. ”I was just researching a tip about the recent gang activity and when I saw the files about escaped prisoners…” she sighed. ”I was honestly hoping he wouldn't be one of them.”
He nodded a little bit. "Yeah." he replied softly.
”I’m sorry. I feel like this is something I should have noticed sooner.” Jade admitted. ”Maybe I could have stopped the break before it even happened.”
He shook his head. "It's not your fault, Jade. Really."
Jade shrugged. ”Maybe not but I still think I should have noticed… something and acted.” she sighed, leaning against him.
