Cat smiled and handed her a ten and put a 5 in the tip jar. "Thanks," She said smiling and stepping back.
Cat smiled and handed her a ten and put a 5 in the tip jar. "Thanks," She said smiling and stepping back.
Acacia smiled and made sure the guy in the back got the orders. Lotus looked to Cat, "Um, want to pick a seat?"
Cat nodded. "Sure," She said looking around for an empty table. She spotted one close by that was also hugging the wall enough to provide some privacy even though it's not like anything would happen.
Lotus followed after and sat facing away from the rest of the cafe. They rubbed their lips together not having the lipstick to replace the coat that was wearing away, "So, uh, feeling better?"
Cat sat down. she noticed the lipstick fading but didnt connect what that meant. "umm yeah I think so. Thanks to you," She said smiling softly. She leaned on the table slightly.
Lotus smiled softly back. The lipstick was starting to reveal the deep shade of blue beneath it, "Glad I could help you out."
Cat saw it and bit her lip slightly. Thinking about what this could mean. Was their first touch going to be a kiss? She stared at Lot's lips for a long moment before looking away.
Lot saw Cat looking at their lip and they bit it slightly before letting out a sigh, "Um, do you have any lipstick on you?"
Cat reached into her backpack and hand them a bright red lipstick. It was very different than their original shade. She looked down at the table after folding her hands on the table.
Lot took the lipstick carefully and pulled out their phone. They wiped the remaining lipstick off revealing that their entire lips were the same shade before applying the bright red color. It didn't make them very happy, but it was better than the darker shade of gray, "Thanks."
She tried not to say anything but looked back up after the lipstick was applied. Her leg bounced slightly. She smiled at them.
"So, uh, thoughts?" Lotus asked quietly as they handed back the lipstick. They were well aware Cat saw and was very sheepish about it.
"I um I guess I know why you didnt want me to touch you," she half joked. And why you didnt want a soulmate. God id think my soulmates an ass and kissed everyone after one second of meeting.
"Um, yeah," Lotus responded scratching at the back of their neck. They thought for a moment the silent war raging in their head before they eventually confessed, "When, when the mark first showed up kids would grab me by the shoulders and kiss me on the lips. To, to, to make fun of me I guess. Got, got real scared and started to wear the lip stick around then."
Cat nodded sighing. "What little assholes," She mumbled. "When did the mark first show up? I tried doing research but it said it depends on the person."
"Late, late elementary," Lotus responded trying desperately to not stutter, "Early, early middle school."
“Oh god that was probably hell,” Cat whispers. “Sorry.” She heard their names get called. She got up to grab their drinks and food.
Lotus shrugged and held themselves. They were forcing themselves not to shake at the memories. Middle school was hell and they hadn't been lying about that.
Cat came back and placed their stuff down. Handing Aurelie her drink. She saw how uncomfortable the memory made her. “So any plans for after college? Or at least goals?”
"Um, Computer Science," Lotus responded grabbing their drink. They took a sip of the coffee and bit into the croissant, "Didn't, didn't we talk about this earlier?"
“I mean like after college? Are you going to start your own business since it seems like you already have,” she said smiling. She sipped her own tea.
"I mean maybe," Lotus shrugged continuing to drink their coffee. They seemed to relax a little, "I never really thought that far ahead. I just sort of assumed I would either get a programming job for some company or keep up with the freelance until I could open my own business where I can work on the projects I want to work on."
Cat nodded “well I bet you’ll do great in whatever you choose. I forgot to ask to see your games yesterday sorry.” She placed her tea down and took a bite of the croissant. “Mmm this is so good!”
"Oh!" Lotus said as they reached for their bag, "I have my laptop with me. Also I told you so."
Cat smiled. “Really! I’d love to see them,” she said sitting on the edge of her seat. “And I never doubt led you for a second!” She took another bite.
"Great!" Lotus responded grinning. They pulled out their laptop as they drank their coffee. They logged in and booted up the game they were currently working before spinning around for Cat to see, "I'm still working on this one, but feel free to check it out."
Cat sat on the edge of her seat. She looked at the screen smiling wide. “This looks really good! How do you play?” She asked looking up at Lot.
"Okay so you use the arrow keys, or WASD to move," Lotus started and looked at the gray screen, "There'll be a puzzle to solve and maybe a monster to fight. Head through the door to find out."
Cat smiled and used the arrow key to walk through the door. The glanced up from the computer to look at Lotus but then she looked back down not wanting to miss anything.
The screen now showed a room with blocks and paths. Lotus scanned for a moment, "This is one of the puzzles. Feel free to ask if you need help."
