"I don't think you're dumb, I never said that."
"I don't think you're dumb, I never said that."
“Uh huh. Well I know you’re lying.”
"Well if you think I'm lying, what do you think is the truth?"
He shrugged
"That's what I thought."
He rolled his eyes
She squeezed her hands together, wincing when she put pressure on her left wrist. She tried to avoid using it because, y'know, it's broken but sometimes she had to in order to make it seem like she was fine.
He of course noticed this but said nothing. He checked his phone. “School should be over soon” he commented
She said nothing, still squeezing her hands. She bit the inside of her cheek to avoid crying out in pain. Even though it hurt, it gave her something to focus on.
“Hellooooooo anybody in there?” He waved his hand in front of her face.
She snapped out of her daze and looked at him. "Hmm? You say something?"
“Yup. School’s almost over. You okay?”
"Just peachy." She pulled her gaze back to the town.
“Damn someone’s salty.” He said
"What can I say? It's kinda my thing."
He chuckled
She stretched her arms above her head, everything seeming normal until she suddenly brought them back down, holding her wrist, hissing in pain. "Bad idea. Knew that was a bad idea."
He raised an eyebrow. “Give me your arm”
"What? Why?" She snapped her arm to her chest, her heart rate skyrocketing.
“Give! Something’s obviously wrong with it!”
"Alright, alright! I'm fine but whatever." She gave him her arm, trying to stay cool even though she was nervous.
He looked at her arm, eventually finding the problem in her wrist. “Yeah this is broken, what’d you do?”
I didn't do anything, it was snapped for me. "Fell down the stairs and landed on it."
“Jeez your stairs sound dangerous”
Yeah, so is my brother. "You have no idea."
He was about to say something more when his phone rang. “Give me a second”
She snapped her wrist back, her heart still pounding. If he tried to take her to a doctor, the doctor would call her mom and then it'd only get worse.
He answered. “Hello?”
“Boss where the hell are you?” The guy on the other end said
“Um…somewhere?”
“I’m coming to get you”
He gasped “no you’re the worst! I’m fine!”
“I don’t trust you not to get shot”
He pouted and ended the call
"Do I even want to know who that was?"
“My friend” he grumbles. “He’s such a Dad it’s annoying”
