Killian chuckled softly. "Mm." he replied. He looked at Jade. "You're welcome. But…alright."
Killian chuckled softly. "Mm." he replied. He looked at Jade. "You're welcome. But…alright."
”Alright. I’ll leave you two alone now,” Sophie said as she walked out of her room looking pretty sexy. ”Just don't do anything I wouldn't do. Ok, Jade?” she smirked at her roommate.
Jade rolled her eyes. ”Probably won't do half the things that you would do anyway, Soph.” she teased back.
Sophie laughed, half sarcastically but still sincerely, ”Yeah yeah. Take care and nice to meet you, Killian.” she said as she opened the apartment door before leaving.
Killian chuckled softly at their banter. "Yeah. See you." he replied to Sophie. He looked at Jade, his eyebrows raised. "Well. She's…unique."
”That’s one way of saying it.” Jade sighed, closing her eyes and rubbing her forehead slightly. ”Kinda glad she had a date. She’ll forget some of the more awkward topics she would have brought up about us when she gets back.”
Killian smirked a little, and chuckled. "Alright." he replied, looking at Jade still.
She opened her eyes and looked back up at him. ”Tell me I overreacted when she said her dates name. It's not that uncommon of a name, right?” she asked, the worry from earlier apparent in her eyes now.
Killian frowned a little. "I don't know." he replied slowly. "I hope it's common enough." he shook his head for a moment.
”Me too.” she agreed but not pacated. ”It’s just… I really hope I’m wrong.” she moaned.
Killian sighed softly. "Even if it is him, it's just a coincidence." He said.
”Or he figured out who I am.” she told him. ”And maybe he's using Sophie to rattle me, which it is, or he plans to use her as a hostage against me. Ethan Howl might not even be his real name because you’d think Darren would recognize his future sister-in-law’s brother.” she was starting to ramble now and she knew it but she couldn't stop. ”Of course, I didn't check if Melissa even had a brother. But Darren said Harbinger told him to call him ”E” and even if that's not who he really is then he's just trying to do this to me. Make me feel weak and helpless and just out of control and…”
"Wait wait wait, slow down." Killian said, putting his hands on her shoulders. "Calm down." He said gently. "Please."
Jade forced herself to take deep slow breaths as she looked at Killian, her eyes showing that though she had stopped rambling her mind hadn't calmed down. Her conflicting worry still raging inside her.
Killian looked at her. "Sophie will be fine, I promise." He said softly. "Really."
”How can you promise that?” she asked softly but wanting, needing to believe him.
He sighed. "There's no reason to hurt her." Killian replied softly.
”I’m a superhero and she’s my best friend.” Jade reminded him. ”Isn't that enough of a reason to go after her?”
Killian grimaced. "Uhm…I suppose so." he replied with a shrug.
”Then how can you say that she won't get hurt?” Jade asked, a little teary-eyed. ”I-I can't lose anyone else.”
Killian sighed. "Look, do you want me to put a protection spell on her? Would that make you feel better?"
Jade blinked at the suggestion as she thought about it for a moment. ”Can you actually do that? Now that she already left?”
"I…yeah, probably. If you give me something of hers to concentrate on." he replied.
”Thank you. I think it really would help if you could.” Jade admitted. ”Would her hairbrush work? Ya know, since it would have her DNA on it?” she asked, remembering how he needed her blood for that other detection spell the last time they worked together.
"Yeah." Killian replied, letting go of her. "Can you get it for me?"
“Yeah. I can do that. I’ll be right back.” she nodded, slowly standing up and heading to Sophie's room. Normally, the girls had a no entry without permission ”rule”, though they had both borrowed one thing or another without telling first. But it wasn't really a big deal so Jade wasn't worried about that. Obviously, she was more focused on her roommate’s safety.
Killian nodded. "Thank you. It just would have been weird for me to go rooting around in her room." he said, watching her go and wondering if he should do or say something more to help.
Jade laughed slightly at his comment. ”Yeah, it would be a little weird. But, you wouldn't be the first man in her room.” she pointed out as she grabbed the hairbrush and walked back to the couch. ”Here you are. Thank you again for doing this.” she smiled with a faint blush. ”I’m sorry for getting so worked up earlier.”
Killian laughed at that comment. "I'm sure I wouldn't be." he replied. He shrugged, and took the hairbrush. "It's fine, and you're welcome." he replied. He carefully lifted a strand of hair out of the brush.
Jade sat next to him and watched him cast the spell. Mostly out of curiosity and not out of suspicion. She was surprised again by how much she trusted him.
Killian frowned a little, closing his eyes and concentrating on what he was doing. The hair and his hand began to glow faintly.
Jade stayed quiet to let him work, recognizing his look of concentration. Though she was a little awed by the soft glow.
