"Not necessarily. Magic trick!" he proclaimed and produced a deck of cards from withing his coat. He set them on his hand and blew them towards Elias. They both promptly disappeared and reappeared in front of a grand palace. "Le Palais des Jokers," he said and swept his arm broadly toward the building.
Eli thought he was going to throw up. "GOOD LORD! WARN A PERSON, HARPER." Eli started walking towards the beautiful building.
"I think the feeling is mutual," Madison muttered under his breath, trailing Elias, his shoes clicking on the cobblestone path. He began whistling and produced a brass pocket watch from his sleeve. "Elias," he said, motioning for the boy to stop.
"What?" Elias asked, looking annoyed. "You really think I'm not going to walk into this giant, beautiful building that probably has lots of good things for me to steal?"
"You can keep walking as long as you'd like. The path doesn't go anywhere. It's like the cartoons where the backround goes round and round!" He let out a giggle. "So we use the watch!"
"Nononononono!" Elias whined. "I JUST WANNA WALK LIKE A PERSON! What's this watch going to do? Is it another card trick?"
"No cards, only watch. Fun, fun, fun!" Madison cackled. "Time twisting! Forward and back!" His eyes shone with a maniacal fire.
"Please tell me we're not teleporting again… I don't think my stomach can take it!" Elias cried, glasses slightly slipping off of his face. He readjusted them and prepared his mind, and his stomach, for another whimsical move.
"No, no! Round and round!" Madison twirled his long finger in a circle. "Down!"
"NO SIR!" Elias screamed. "CAN WE NOT DO SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE ME VOMIT???"
Madison laughed, a high, hysterical sound. "You are hilarious!" He collapsed onto the ground, seemingly drunk with his own laughter. Marbles fell out of his coat, and he suddenly collected himself.
"Pardon me," he said, slightly embarrassed. "I seem to have lost my marbles." He began to pick them up, putting them in his pockets.

"You've lost your marbles in many other ways…" Mumbled Elias. "Onward we go?"

"This is Wonderland. These marbles," Madison pointed to his pockets, "and these marbles," he pointed to his head, "are exactly the same thing. Frankly, I'm surprised that you hadn't figured that out." He smiled wryly.
"So you really have lost your marbles!" Elias chuckled. "I see. You're crazier than I thought! Anyways, onward before I chicken out!"
"It's a shame that I've lost the marble of impetuosity. It's really unfortunate." He popped open the face of his watch. "Fairy dust for you, kind sir?"
