"I love you too," Ilya mumbled, eyes cracking open so he could get one last look at Sebastian's face before he dozed off.

Sebastian stayed still for a few minutes, but eventually he had to pull away. He gently let go of Bryn, getting off the bed. He pulled the blanket up over him lightly, kissing his forehead. Finally, he stepped away, grabbing his bag and the do not enter door hanger. He glanced at Bryn once more before stepping out the door.

Bryn whined softly when he pulled away, but he was already mostly asleep. He curled into a tiny ball, cuddling one of the pillows now that Sebastian was gone.

Bryn yawned sleepily, wiping his eyes lazily as he slipped from the bed. His clothes and hair were rumpled, feet bare as he padded across the floor, but he stopped right as he reached the door. Something was… off. Sebastian would just come in if he needed something, it was his room. "Master?" He asked, voice high pitched and worried to throw off whoever it might be. "Is… is that you?"

A scoffing sound came from outside the door, and it opened to reveal a maid.
"Mister Sebastian, letting his filthy demon stay in his room while he's away." She came inside, eyes squinting behind bifocals. She was older, to be certain.
"When I was young people actually knew how to deal with the cretins." She mumbled to herself, pushing past Bryn.

Bryn repressed a sneer behind a big doe-eyed look of concern, backing away immediately when the woman came into the room like he was afraid. It was easy to play skittish with the woman, especially when she was acting like such a bitch. "The master wants me here so that he may use me when he gets back, ma'am," he said softly, eyes dipping to the floor like he was ashamed.

The elderly woman rolled her eyes, closing the door behind her so Bryn couldn't leave. She busied herself cleaning Sebastian's room, as she did every day when he was at practice. She paused when she saw Bryn's collar was on the desk instead of on him.
"And I suppose he took this off too?" She asked accusingly, picking it up and shaking it at Bryn. There was no way she would believe Sebastian had done that.

Fuck. Bryn bit his lip, cursing himself for not making Sebastian put it back on him before he fell asleep. "Ah… um… no, ma'am." Lying to her would only get him in deeper shit, it was best to fess up to some fake wrongdoing than let her punish him for lying on top of everything else.

The woman scowled, walking out of the room and slamming the door. She came back a minute later with a man in tow. The mansion's enforcer.
"He got his collar off," she told him, stepping back. This man was obviously one who could overpower Bryn, a wipe hanging at his side.

Bryn was on his knees in the corner of the room, nails cutting crescent moons into his palms as he heard the door squeak open. He had to be good, which meant he had to be quiet and he had to do whatever these humans said, which meant he couldn't fight or protest or even look like he wanted to bolt. The collar was back around his neck, silver glinting softly in the light.

"Thank you, Beatrice. I'll call you back when I'm done here," the man said. Beatrice nodded, glaring at Bryn one last time before leaving the room.
"Take your top off," The man instructed.
"And come here." He unhooked the wipe from his belt.

Bryn whimpered softly when he saw the whip, hands skipping frantically along the buttons down his back and then freezing with horror when he realized there were a few he couldn't reach. "I… I can't get it off all the way," he said softly, panic stabbing sharply through his words. "Sir, I'm sorry, I… It won't…"

The man sneered, stepping forward and unbuttoning Bryn the rest of the way. He roughly forced the top of Bryn's one-piece down, exposing his back. Then, he stepped back, preparing to strike, when the door opened. Sebastian stood there. He examined the scene, mind frantically coming up with a way to stop this.
"What did it do?" He finally asked. The man turned to Sebastian.
"It got its collar off, sir. Beatrice sent me."

Bryn looked up at Sebastian, eyes brimming with tears, and then let out a soft whimper when he recognized who it was. Sebastian, his Sebastian, about to try and stop this. There was no way he could do it without outing them, so he gave his head a tiny shake, a warning not to try, and pushed himself up onto hands and knees. "M-master, I'm sorry, I… I didn't mean to…"

Sebastian's mind had been desperately trying to come up with something, but it was all blown away when Bryn shook his head. Dammit, there had to be something. Anything. But no. Instead, Sebastian scowled at Bryn, turning to the man.
"I see. Proceed." The man nodded, turning back to Bryn. He lifted the whip, striking Bryn's back. Sebastian forced himself not to look away, and he barely kept himself from defending Bryn.
Once.
Twice.
Five times, the man took the whip to Bryn's back.

Bryn took them as quietly as he could, arms giving out underneath him and leaving his forehead pressed up against the ground. It wasn't the worst thing he'd taken, nowhere close to the horrors his last master had cooked up because this whip was made to bruise instead of cut, but it still fucking hurt. "A-ah! Please, master, I… I'm sorry!"

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

The man prepared to strike a sixth time, but Sebastian held up his hand.
"That is enough," he said. The man nodded, rewinding his whip and leaving. Sebastian, the moment the door closed, rushed over to Bryn's side.

Bryn weakly pushed his head into Sebastian's lap, panting against his hipbone as tears finally began to fall from his eyes. His back stung, bright red lash marks crisscrossing across the tanned skin. "S-Sebastian… I…"

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"This is my fault," Sebastian said quietly, taking Bryn's head gently in his hands and wiping the tears away.
"I'm so sorry…" He pulled Bryn closer, careful of the marks dancing across Bryn's back. God, Sebastian was an idiot.

Bryn shuddered, pressing himself as close to Sebastian as he could and burying his face in the human's neck. "Not… not your fault," he forced out between sobs, body wracked with pain and shock. "N-nobody's… nobody's fault."

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Sebastian had his arms around Bryn, one at his head and one underneath him, the only places he could without touching the horrible red marks.
"Yes it is. If-If I had been more careful, if- If I had done something…"

Bryn's back felt like it was on fire, burning him alive as pain sliced up and down his back with every breath or movement. "N-no! Nothing…" he paused to pant weakly against Sebastian's neck, struggling for breath. "Nothing you could've… could've done. My fault too."

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Sebastian was horrified by these words. He wanted to do something to take the pain away, but he didn't know what. He was helpless to help Bryn.
"No! Bryn, t-this isn't your fault! You didn't do a-anything…"

"Could've kept the collar on. Could've reminded you before… before you left." Bryn took a shaky breath, clinging more tightly to Sebastian. "Our mistake. Both of us."

Deleted user

Bryn pressed his forehead against Sebastian's, letting out a soft breath. "I… um… cold. Ice, or a cold pack, or even a washcloth, it'll… it'll numb the pain. And… your doctor, she might have something to help with bruising."

Deleted user

Bryn bit his lip, but he nodded. "It… it really hurts," he mumbled, pressing closer to Sebastian. "I don't… I dont wanna have to deal with it all alone again, I… I need help. I need healing."

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Sebastian nodded. He stood, picking Bryn up.
"We'll… we'll numb it before we go, okay?" He asked, already carrying Bryn to go get a cold pack from the attached bathroom; he was an athlete, after all. He had a lot on hand.
