Pettiness is more saying something just to wind another person up, or bitching about stuff that clearly isn't worth bitching about. Rudeness is more when you're genuinely trying to offend someone.
To me they're different. Just saying.

Though I do tend to stay on the side of conspiracy theories instead of actual politics.
