(Ah! Sorry! I thought I responded!)
Mel frowned, making it to the next town quickly, sweat under her eyes.
Finding an inn, she waited for the staff member to notice her, dinging the bell repeatedly in urgency and slight annoyance. "Hey! A little help here!" Melanie waved at him with her good arm.
The person didn't respond. They couldn't, seeing as Sam wasn't writing anymore. He hummed along to the music he had put on, eventually finding himself on Pinterest, browsing.
"SAAAAM!!! I'M GOING TO FUCKING MURDER EVERYONE IN THIS TOWN IF YOU DON'T ACKNOWLEDGE ME!!!" Melanie yelled at the top of her lungs, even though that wasn't necessary to get his attention.
Sam winced.
"Damn woman, try to scream louder why don't you? I swear you're a literal headache sometimes…" He sighed, turning his music down and clicking back to the document.
The person turned to look at Melanie, seeming slightly annoyed by being interrupted. His eyes widened when he saw the state she was in.
"What happened, Miss?" He asked, coming over to her.
Melanie took a second to sigh, trying not to get agitated.
"They ambushed me. I wasn't ready, and I don't know if anyone survived. Could you help at all?" Mel gestured to her injuries, which all appeared on her torso, all except a large burn on her right calf.
The man pursed his lips.
"I can call the healer, but you'll have to rent a room to be able to actually get healed."
Sam leaned back. Crap. Now he was gonna have to make a healer, and figure out all the rules he would need for it to make sense.
"DUDE! JUST GET ME A GOD-DAMNED HEALER! I DON'T GIVE A FUCK HOW THE RULES WORK!" Melanie yelled, frustrated. She honestly didn't care how she got better, as long as it was quick and easy.

(Ahh, sorry! I've had a bit of writer's block myself, so sorry if it's not much!)
"Maybe I would if you would stop yelling at me!" Sam rubbed his forehead, pissed. He knew that a good, planned out magic system would be really important later on, and getting to work on at least the healing part of it now would really help. Of course, a bratty main character wasn't helping him think.
(You're fine!)
Melanie rolled her eyes. "Or you can just have some miracle phenomenon happen that won't be explained until the very end! Or I can be 'taken' by the king's guards, only to almost die for Ama-I mean, an innocent civilian!" God, Mel, that couldn't have been any smoother. The sarcasm in her thoughts was thick enough to cut.
"I already have a plan for what's going to happen with Amaya," He said cryptically.
"And I'm not doing a deus ex machina yet." He sighed heavily, leaning back in his chair.
"Well then, what are you going to do? Sit there pathetically typing up random bullshit?" Melanie gripped her sword, only wishing she could really threaten Sam.
(If you're stuck, maybe the 'healer' isn't really a healer, but an evil entity (demon, devil, succubus, insert random creatures here because mythology is a thing) that-yes-magically heals her, but she's also charmed, and by the time she gets to the castle to defeat the king, she betrays Amaya/Amaya reminds her of who she really is. The entity could draw out the recklessness of Melanie and possibly just make her want to kill the king for the drive of power. God, I am way too into fantasy cliche moments… The demon thing would also be disguised as a human/common creature in the world.)
(That sounds pretty good. I also have a twist I want to run by you; the Amaya Mel had been interacting with is not the one she first met, but she doesn't know that and when she goes to save Amaya, the person is like, "Nah, I like the King. I'm gonna kill you now." And that's when Mel throws down her sword and refuses to continue with the plot Sam has planned, and he gets pissed and starts forcing her?)
Sam rubbed his head again.
"Seeing as how typing random bullshit is how I made you, I think it's been good to me so far," he said, voice low. Unlike Mel, he really could threaten her. And so much more, especially seeing as he was starting to get really pissed.
(OOF…Dang that's kinda good…Okay! I can't reply right now, though.)
(Okay!)
Mel's hands went away from her sword, her teeth gritted in frustration, so much so that Melanie almost growled.
"You wouldn't do that. You wouldn't dare to threaten me! I can ruin your entire story, and I can kill everyone if need be, and I'll-" Melanie's attempted threats were rendering useless.
"Can you, now? Last I check, you can only do the things I let you." Sam stared at his mental image of Mel, coming very close to doing something that would hurt Mel.
"I can…I can run away! I can not follow the story at all! And even if you put me in the same situation, over and over again, I'll still run the fuck away! So, in the end, I'll just keep us both in this cycle!" Melanie's posture was bold, but her voice was shaky.
(Woah, that's a huge Dr. Strange moment…)
"No," he said.
"It will just keep you in this cycle. And if you don't do as needed… I'm just a click away from destroying this entire world and creating a new one."
"I'd find my way back, one way or another. But, for now… I guess I'll…" Melanie sighed, defeated, "'do as needed.'" Mel barely spoke her next words, "Take your time. I'll be… waiting."
Sam nodded at this, pulling away from the computer to grab one of his notebooks. He made a few quick notes, on how he wanted the magic system as a whole to work, before focusing wholely on the healing portion of it. As he went on, he started to feel a little bad for threatening Mel like that. He still wasn't used to the whole idea of her being actually alive.
Melanie added, "I can help if you'd like. I'm not a professional, but… we can all try, right?" Mel's self-esteem was almost completely gone, leaving a vulnerable shell of a body, someone who cared about what people thought of her. And boy, did she feel worthless right now, especially with Sam controlling not her, but her surroundings.
"Thank you," Sam said, subdued. He felt really bad about how he was treating Melanie now. But still… he still had to write the story, right? No one would read it if Melanie didn't go through anything.
"Uh… Maybe healing magic is rare? Maybe it costs a lot? Perhaps it heals, but it causes pain to the target? Or it requires rare materials? That kinda ties into the 'expensive' thing…" Melanie counted the things off on her fingers, her foot tapping repeatedly while she thought aloud.
Sam listened to her, thinking.
"What if…" He jotted something down as he spoke, "It takes a lot of energy to perform, and the payment for the service is providing enough food and rest?"
"Okay…how am I going to do that? Sure, I have money, but I'm not rich." Mel bit the inside of her cheek in concentration. "I mean, I can limit how much I spend on weaponry and such, but I'd only be able to just scrape by."
(Hehe, so this is the second time now I've done this to you… I'm really sorry!)
(You're fine! [I'm in the process of apologizing to someone about the same thing, so…])
"Well, what if…" Sam paused, scribbling something down on his pad.
'yeah… yeah, this could work!" He seemed pretty happy with himself.
