Melanie perked up. "What? Please don't tell me I'm going to be dirt-poor…"

Deleted user

"You're gonna make me protect him! But I have better things to do! I don't want someone to hinder me!" Especially when I'm looking for Amaya…

Sam had pulled another notebook out. He opened it, jotting down some basics about this new character.
"You'll also have someone who's able to help you deal with wounds, Besides, who said anything about them being a hindrance? Maybe at the beginning…"

Deleted user

"Well, that's great." Melanie said sarcastically. Least I'll have someone for when I screw myself over…
"So what's his-or her-name?" Mel bit her cheek, "Celeste, Aaron, Hedia, Griffin…" She listed, idly glancing around the room.

Deleted user

"Uh, yeah. Quick question: what does she look like? What am I looking for when you say, 'Zia'?" Melanie took a quick look around the room, only seeing the person who worked at the desk who asked if she was alright.

Deleted user

(Of course. WAIT, what if she's attracted to Melanie, and all Mel does is push her away? xD That would be her hinderance!)
"But…Saaaaam! C'mon!" Mel whined, crossing her arms, waiting for this new accomplice to show herself.

(Perfecto!)

Eventually, Sam started typing again, and a woman in white robes came bursting through the door. It also meant that Mel was back to feeling the pain of all of her wounds, as if they had just happened.
"I heard someone needed me?" the woman, Zia, said.

Deleted user

"Aw, shit! Sam! Warning next time! Please!" Melanie offered a smile towards Zia, but it turned out to look more like a grimace. "Hi. 'M Mel, and I kind of… fell." God, that lie was horrible. Why didn't you just keep your mouth shut?

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Sam snorted a little.
"I told you I was starting," he muttered, more focused on recording what Mel was doing and having Zia respond.

Zia looked Mel up and down, raising one eyebrow.
"You fell… And got burned." Zia shrugged after a moment. "Not my job to know. Let's just get to a room so I can do my thing." Zia cracked her knuckles, hands on hip.

Deleted user

(I like her already xD Did you have an idea as to how she looked, or do you want to leave it to our imaginations?)

"Yep. Yeah. Room. Uh, where exactly?" Mel clutched her right arm, feeling miserable that she was vulnerable.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

(Yeah, I figured she'd be a larger African American woman in long billowy white robes, very fancy and show-offy)

"You were supposed to have one ready before I arrived," Zia noted. She turned to the attendant, who handed her a key to a room.
"Let's go," she said.

Deleted user

(Sadly, that's what I was thinking… Pardon me for the short replies lately.)

"M'kay. So… how long have you worked here?" Mel tried to distract herself by thinking of other things, but all she could think about was Amaya.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

(Don't worry, I understand!)

"Few years," Zia said calmly, unlocking the door to the small room Zia had purchased in Mel's name, stepping inside.
"Sit," she said, motioning to the bed.
Sam paused to stretch, thinking.

About to protest, saying that she'll do things out of her own will, Melanie zipped her mouth shut. She knows what she's doing, unlike you, Mel's thoughts echoed in her head as she sat down, biting her tongue as to not say something rude.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

(Idea- what if Zia achieved the status of secondary protagonist and became like Melanie, and both of them just annoy the crap out of Sam?)

Zia set out a few things on a table, then pulled a chair over to the bed and sat down. She looked Melanie over a bit closer now, taking notes on all her injuries.

"I don't know what the hell I'm doing either," Sam mumbled under his breath.

Deleted user

(Oh my gosh, that would be amazing! They could be the dynamic duo of annoying Sam!)

"Burn, burn, burn, hell-of-a burn there, and my shoulder's seen better days." Melanie looked almost annoyed, more directed at Sam than Zia.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

Sam rolled his eyes. So bossy.

Zia looked up at Melanie, one eyebrow raised. "I could see that." She reached over to her table, grabbing a small glass orb. She held it in her left hand, hovering her right hand over the worst burn. She closed her eyes, concentrating. Nothing seemed to be happening yet, though.

Deleted user

Melanie's curious eyes when Zia held the orb dropped. "How long will this take?" Her tone was rude, and if she could, Melanie would just leave right then and there.

Deleted user

Melanie, grumbling, shut up so Zia could do her business. Oh, how I hate this… Sam, you are so dead if she's going to tell me to shut up all the time…

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"Depends," Sam answered verbally. "How much are you gonna mouth off to her while she's helping you?" He chuckled a little, continuing.

Slowly, the burn Zia was holding her hand over began to disappear, healing exponentially. Slow at first, and this it was gone in a moment. Zia looked like she was growing weary, however, sweat beading on her brow. She started again with another burn, slowly working her way over Mel's entire body.

Deleted user

"You okay?" Mel knew she cared too much about other people, dispite her act. "You don't have to spend all of your time on me; you can take a break, you know." Melanie knew she was being too insistant. She briefly hated herself for it.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"I'm fine," Zia said, brushing Melanie's concern off. "I've had to heal worse." She smiled a little, continuing. After a few more moments, she pulled away, finished.
"There," she said. "All healed up."

Deleted user

"Thank the heavens, I would have taken months to recover, and I don't have much time. I appreciate your service, but I really have to get going, there's something important I need to get back to." Melanie smiled towards Zia and stood, stretching her arms and legs.

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"Of course, just as soon as you pay we'll part ways." Zia stood, on slightly wobbly legs.
"Fifty crowns should cover the food and rest I'll need to recover." Of course, Mel didn't have fifty crowns. She barely had two. Sam smirked a little.

Deleted user

"Uh, sorry? Could I, uh… pay you later? Look, I promise, I am not usually like this," liar, she thought to herself, "but I really have to do something, and it can't wait." Mel seemed to be smiling nervously. Sam, I swear to god I will do this myself. I don't need a healer!

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

"Oh, bite me. She's going with you, whether you like it or not." Sam chuckled a little.

Zia raised an eyebrow at Melanie.
"I see. You're one of those. Think you can get healed and just skip town without paying up. Look here, missy, I work hard and literally give up a part of me to help you. I ain't leaving you alone until I get paid my fifty crowns."
