She shook her head slightly but walked over and sat on a chair. ”its really not.”
She shook her head slightly but walked over and sat on a chair. ”its really not.”
“Honestly, it’s fine, Caterina,” Aurelie responded, slightly harsher. She sighed. “It doesn’t matter now anyway. It’s not like it would have been love at first sight or anything…”
She shrugged. ”You never know, ” she mumbled. She didn't really believe in true lives but she really wanted it to be real so she didn't have to see Aurelie get hurt.
Aurelie smiled sadly. “If it was real, don’t you think it would have happened by now?” she asked cynically.
”well I mean you won't know if they're your true love until the day of right?” she asked. ”it probably won't be true love at first sight but you have a few days to get to know them.
Aurelie sighed. “I suppose so. But I’ll be asleep then, so I think that my true love will have to know. It doesn’t matter what I think.”
Ava nodded biting the inside of her cheek. “I’m still sorry for everything. It’s all not fair to you.”
Aurelie shrugged. “Life isn’t fair. I’ll get over it,” she replied evenly, though still with the edge she had been showing Cat since finding out about the lies.
“Doesn’t seem like you’d have a chance to get over it if we don’t figure something out,” she practically spat out not meaning to let her anger show.
Aurelie blinked, taken aback for a moment before composing herself again. "Well what do you propose I do? Throw myself at every girl I see until I find my 'true love'?" she retorted, folding her arms.
She sighed “I don’t know but you can’t just sit here and let it happen,” she said trying to calm herself down and failing.
"What do you think I've been trying to do for the first sixteen years of my life? I can't control it. Nothing I do is going to make a difference!" she practically yelled, her face turning a bit red.
She didn't say anything back just shook her head and stood up. ”I'm leaving.”
“Fine,” Aurelie snapped. “Leave then.” She felt on the verge of tears for the umpteenth time that day.
She felt a pang of guilt but walked out. She tried to sneak out the back but the guards caught her bringing her to the dungeon now that Aurelie wasn't there to help.
Aurelie began to cry nearly as soon as Cat had left this time, forgetting about dignity. She half hoped that Cat would turn around and come back. Aurelie would probably forgive her just if she saw Cat show up again, but Cat didn’t appear. Instead Aurelie continued to cry and wish that she would have said something. Cat might be a liar, but Aurelie realized that she truly felt something for her beyond just wanting to kiss or be near her.
Cat had fought the guards but failed. When she landed in the dungeon they shoved her in a cell across from her brother who glared at her. She shrunk in the corner of her cell.
(Time skip? She can like find out they caught a thief or smth)
(yeah sounds good)
Like a day later.
Cats still in the cell doing her best to not look at Alex who was now not just glaring but when the guards where far enough away he’d throw insults at her.
Aurelie was dressed in a gown of palest blue today, with pale pink ribbons and silver accents. Her hair was in a complicated half up and half down style, falling in perfectly textured waves down her back. She had just put on a silver necklace when there was a knock at her door. “Come in.”
“Lee-lee!” Eli exclaimed breathlessly, closing her door quickly lest anyone be looking in.
“Eli? What is it? Tell me the news!” Aurelie demanded excitedly at his demeanor. Her face dropped, taking in Eli’s sudden frown. “It isn’t good news, is it?”
“There’s a thief in the dungeons who looks an awful lot like your girlfriend,” Eli told her, a bit sheepish now. Aurelie pressed her lips together.
“She’s not my girlfriend.” Eli winced, but didn’t say anything. “I’m going to go see her.”
Eli nodded, her eyebrows drawn together. “That’s not a good idea, but I’m sure you’ll do it no matter what I say, so good luck. I have to get back to my post before they discover I’m missing.” The two of them hugged briefly before Eli left, then Aurelie a couple minutes later, walking straight to the dungeons with her heels clicking on the floor.
Alex was quiet when he heard footsteps. Cat didn't even look up as she just started at the floor. She was still in her amid a dress which was now all dirty and slightly ripped. She had a busted lip but other than that no injuries.
"Eli said you were here," Aurelie sighed upon seeing Cat. She took her in, clearly dismayed at the filthy clothing and busted lip. "Are you okay? What happened?"
”I tried to leave but then I got caught. Titans out someone got caught before and decided to rat me out!” she spat glaring at the cell behind Aurelie. He ignored them.
“So they locked you up? Did they say for how long? I’m going to have words with whoever did this.” Her delicate features were torn between dismayed and angry.
”they said they'll have a trail hit they didn't say when, ” she explained. She stood up but swayed slightly since she hasn't stood since being thrown in. At least this was better than the town jail.
"A trial?" Aurelie repeated incredulously. "I have to talk to my father about this. I can't…this is…" She sighed.
She shrugged. “Doesn’t matter I probably won’t be here for it anyway,” she mumbled. “Plus it’s not like I’m innocent.”
"Why won't you be here for it?" Aurelie asked, her expression dropping with worry. However much she had pretended not to, she still cared for Cat.
She shook her head. ”Nothing it's just don't worry about me ok I'll be fine. They'll probably wait till after your birthday to hold the trial since they have better things to worry about.” she came closer to the bars.
"But I am worried about you," she burst out, putting her hands to her face in embarrassment. "I don't want anything to happen to you."
