"I don't need anything, but if you want to visit, you could! It's always nice to have a friend over!" Kyo gave a large smile, looking over the menu.
"I don't need anything, but if you want to visit, you could! It's always nice to have a friend over!" Kyo gave a large smile, looking over the menu.
"Thank you. If you ever would like a friend for any day or time, give me a call." He winked. The male then leaned back and looked over the curious boy again. "Kyo, where are you from?" He asked gently. "I don't think I ever learned."
"Middle of the Pacific Ocean, technically. It's hard to pinprick where it actually is." Kyo looked a bit wistfull as he spoke, sighing before looking back to the menu.
"Do you miss it?" He asked, his fingers intertwined together and his legs crossed. He already knew what he wanted so he let his menu rest underneath his elbows upon the table. "You can always ask for a visiting leave. I would fund it for you." Victor smiled at the selkie once more, unable to keep his emotions in check.
"Of course I miss it." He smiled a bit. "But I can't really go back. I'd actually dissolve if I step into saltwater." Kyo shrugged and closed the menu. "Don't have my pelt." He explained.
The human tensed up. His eyes were wide and slightly surprised. “O-oh? Where is your pelt?” He asked slowly. “I’ve never met a Selkie without a pelt at least on hand.”
"Stolen." He muttered angrily, face clearing than going back to his happy and cheery normal face. "What are you going to get on the menu? All the food looks super good!"
Victor looked a little shocked. He blinked his wide eyes and ran a hand through his messy hair. The casualness of it all was rather strange. “I… uh…” he glanced down at his menu. “I always get the same thing from here… they make lovely parfaits and the mixed berry one is my favorite.” He replied softly.
"Ooh, that sounds good. I was thinking of getting an egg in a hole." Kyo tilted his head. He was really happy that the subject was changed, but he couldn't show it.
Victor smiled softly and nodded gently. “I’ve heard that’s good too.” He murmured, playing with the fabric of his shirt. His eyes fell to the table and for a second he looked like he was debating something.
"Awesome! I don't usually go to restaurants in general, but egg in a hole is always good." He hummed, his eyes closed as he smiled. He opened up his eye after a minute and noticed the other's look. "What's wrong?"
"It is isn't it?" He murmured gently, flashing a shy smile. He shifted nervously, the professional Victor was acting very unprofessional at the moment. And he felt rather awful about it for no reason. "Nothing is wrong, Kyo. I was just wondering if you are free this weekend? There is a company ball and I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me?"
Kyo gave a small giggle and a huge and giddy smile right after. "Sure! I would love to go with you! What do I have to wear?" He asked, he had never had a friend invite him somewhere! This would be so fun!
“It’s a formal thing, so if you can, a suit. I can get you one tailored too, if you need one.” He said softly, sighing gently. “I would feel much better to have a friend nearby. These things don’t sit well with me most times.”
"Oof, I have a suit somewhere. I'll find it!" Kyo smiled wide and patted the other's arm. "It's okay! I'll stick to your side like a thorn on a rose!"
Victor chuckled lightly and watched Kyo curiously. “Thank you. It’ll be fun, I’m sure of it.” He humme d
Kyo's eyes lit up when the food arrived, it looked so good! It smelled a bit weird though, but that might just be the eggs.
Victor kindly thanked the waiter and sat back in his seat, his fingers tapping against the table. He grunted as his phone started to ring, but he didn’t pick it up. It was silenced.
"I want to know more about you, if that's okay." Kyo hummed, sticking a bite of food into his mouth. "What're you interested in?"
Victor spooned a bit of yogurt into his mouth and let his body relax completely when the call ended. He smiled at Kyo and chewed on his spoon as he thought. “Photography. I have many many prints and photos at home and in my office. I love to take photos.”
"That's awesome! What's your favorite thing to capture?" Kyo hummed in response, setting his spoon and fork on the plate. He ate as much as he could, which wasn't much. Human food wasn't great tasting for his palet.
“Living things.” Victor’s eyes grew distant as he spoke, a small smile gracing his thin lips. “The way they move, curve, flow… it’s all amazing. Trees and flowers never appear to be static; people and creatures of all sorts are never dull. Each time I look through the lens I can’t help but notice how breathtaking life is.”
"Amazing." Kyo breathed, resting his head on his hand. He decided to ask something risky…
"Do you ever take pictures of the ocean?"
Victor nodded softly, suddenly reaching for his bag. “I have, Yes! It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” He asked softly, pulling a large binder from the satchel he always carried. “Go ahead, take a look,” he hummed happily, offering the binder to Kyo.
Kyo's eyes widened and he took the binder gently, like one would toss a baby. He opened the first page and let out a gasp, it was of a boat on the ocean at sun rise.
Victor sighed deeply at the sight, his fingers curling slightly as he stared. He longed to get out and photograph more. He hated the stupid office. It wasn’t at all what he wanted. He wanted freedom.
"These are amazing, you must have been doing this for a long time to get this good." He remarked, eyes tracing every clean line on the page.
“Twelve years now.” He murmured. “Of course the first few years didn’t count, that was just me being a curious child.” He laughed softly and traced the line of the boat. “That is my aunts. She loves the ocean, goes out every now and then.” He explained.
