Jade shrugged, walking towards him. ”I don't often take lengthy showers, though I have used that excuse for a couple of hero jobs.” she explained offhandedly. ”Is something wrong? I don't see your eyes turning red for no reason.”

Jade sighed. It was obvious he was lying. ”Killian, please. If something is bothering you, you can tell me. After everything you've done for me, I would like to help you.” she asserted gently, genuinely wanting to help.

Killian looked at her for a long moment. "It's nothing you need to worry about, Jade." He replied slowly. "It's just something I've been dealing with for a while now." He shrugged slightly, looking away from her.

”Alright. If that's how you really feel.” Jade relented. ”But if you ever change your mind…” she didn't get to finish her offer as a soft ringing cut her off. ”Oh, shoot! Where did you put my helmet?” she asked slightly alarmed.

”Where the heck are you, Jade? You never came home last night. That's not like you.” Sophie complained, worry evident in her voice.

”Geez, I thought you were my roommate, not my mom.” Jade laughed, trying to calm her friend down. ”I’m fine, Soph. I just went for a ride last night and got a flat. Triple-A couldn't help yet, so I found out an old friend lived nearby and crashed there.” she explained.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Old friend?" Killian echoed, laughing softly at that description. He wondered for a moment if her friend could hear him, then shrugged it off. It didn't really matter if they did or not. At least, not to him.

Old friend, huh? Is he hot and single?” Sophie was obviously smirking as she asked that question.

”Who even said my friend was a guy, you big flirt!” Jade groaned at the other girl's antics while gesturing both an apology and for quiet at Killian. ”Anyway, that topic never came up.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Killian coughed, letting out a soft laugh as he left the room to give her some privacy. And before he could do anything stupid, as he was severely tempted to yell "hot, single, and ready to mingle". Which probably was not a good choice.

Sophie let out a sound between a scoffing laugh and an exasperated sigh. ”Jade, I wasn't asking for me. You need a social life and, in your case, that includes a boyfriend every once in a while. Don't think I can't tell you're blushing.”

”First of all; I do have a social life, and secondly; we don't really have that much in common. We’re only friends cause we run into each other a lot.” Jade half-lied as usual.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Killian straightened up the kitchen, humming softly as he did so. His dark hair hung into his eyes a little, though not in a bad way, more of in an endearing, if slightly scruffy, way.

”Whatever. Just call or text when you're gonna come back.” Sophie paused. ”Or if you plan on staying another night.” she giggled mischievously.

”Goodbye, Sophie.” Jade hung up, keeping the helmet on for a few moments to wait for the blush Sophie mentioned to die off. ”Sorry about that, Killian. Sophie can be a bit overbearing and nosy.” she chuckled, finally removing the helmet. ”Makes for an interesting roommate.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Killian chuckled. "It's fine, don't worry about it." he replied, coming back from the kitchen. "I understand. I had a friend like that for a while." he chuckled softly, shrugging a little.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Yeah." he replied with a shrug, looking away for a moment. He looked back at her with a sigh. "But hey, friends like that can be fun." he added with a chuckle.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Killian nodded, then chuckled. "My friend was like that too, for a while. I managed to convince him to trim it down to just one. Thankfully. He still would complain that I had no social life." he rolled his green eyes with another soft chuckle.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(I gtg to bed soon)

Killian chuckled softly, shaking his head a little. "Ah. I see." he replied with a shrug. "And honestly? I don't remember. I think I complained my way out."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

(Ok. See you in the morning)

Jade shook her head. ”That wouldn't work with Sophie. She's an unstoppable force and I’m an immovable object on that topic.” she admitted. ”I can't afford to get attached in a relationship anyway. Not with my career.”

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Jade chuckled, not paying much attention to his expression at the moment. ”Right. Of course, you do.” she sighed. ”This is a little strange though. Being able to talk about these things so freely. No guarded words, no minced truths.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Killian chuckled. "Nothing like a villain when you need someone yo confide in. We don't judge." He winked, grinning. "Of course we don't. If we did, we would probably judge ourselves and have a crisis of conscience."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Jade laughed with him. ”If only it were that easy for us heroes. We're constantly judging ourselves and each other because somebody didn't do ”the right thing”. I swear it's almost like there's more politics between a couple of heroes than in the actual government.”

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Jade shrugged. ”It's not great, but that's one reason I stay a local hero instead of a global one.” she looked right at him. ”I think you could be a great hero. Do you know how many actually have magic as a power? Many of them rely on a physical ability like strength or speed. I think with your ability, you could do more good than a few already established heroes.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Killian nodded, then shook his head. "It isn't about power, Jade, it's a mindset!" He replied. "I…there are things about me that you don't know, okay? Please just believe me when I say that I would be a terrible hero."
