"I suppose, so… is Urielle showing up today?" He asked, making no move to let go of V.
"I suppose, so… is Urielle showing up today?" He asked, making no move to let go of V.
V shook his head as he shifted off the bed, holding Nathaniel close as he stood and headed to the kitchen to start breakfast "He's coming later. Said he had a few errands to run."
"Alrighty." Nathaniel yawned, rubbing his eyes as he was dragged to the kitchen.
He pressed a kiss to his head and set Nathaniel on the counter "Bagel?" he asked, holding one up
Nathaniel nodded tiredly, accepting the bagel from V and taking a bite out of it.
"Did you not want it toasted?" V asked with a small laugh. He pulled out the pumpkin corn cake from a week ago and popped that in the microwave to warm. "I'll be right back," he said, heading to the bathroom to check on his wing
"I don't need it to be toasted." He waved when V left the room, continuing to quietly eat his bagel.
V pulled off the shirt and turned around to see his wrapped wing. He unwrapped it and tried to extend it with an agonizing yelp. "Okay…maybe don't do that…" he sighed softly, and gently pulled his wing back into place
Nathaniel jumped at the yelp, looking over in the direction of the bathroom. "V? You okay?" He asked worriedly, already beginning to stand up.
He left it out of the wrap for now so it wouldn't get stiff. He pulled back on his shirt and headed back to the kitchen "yeah, everything's fine, just the wing hurts a bit to move." He said, smiling at Nathaniel in reasurance
Nathaniel nodded and hugged V gently. "Okay… be careful with it, love."
He only nodded and nuzzled his hair, wondering how in all creation he was going to tell Nathaniel his wing was permanently broken. "Did you eat the bagel already? do want anything else?"
"Yeah, the bagel's gone… I don't need anything else, though." He looked up at V, studying his expression, but not quite able to discern its meaning. His own wings were quite sore, especially the one that had been cut. He thought he was pretty lucky that the tendons were trying to reconnect, so he could still move the wing even if it was useless to him for flying purposes.
He glanced down at Nathaniel "you're sure?" he asked softly, gently stroking his cheek and pressing a kiss to his nose."
"Mhmm. I'm sure." Nathaniel nodded, kissing V back. "You should probably eat, though."
(I swear i answered! I'm so sorry!)
"I will," He pulled out the corn cake from the microwave along with the tea that was on the stove. He poured a cup for nathaniel and passed it to him before pouring one for himself and taking a cautious sip, making his wings quiver slightly in comforting warmth.
(No problem)
Nathaniel sipped his tea quietly, its warmth relaxing him. He sat back down and continued drinking it.
V walked over and maneuvered himself so that Nathaniel's legs wrapped around his waist. He pressed a kiss to the other's head and took a sip of the tea
"Hi, love~" Nathaniel kissed his cheek, smiling softly as he kept drinking
"hi," he laughed softly and nuzzled his head, pressing light kisses to his face
Nathaniel laughed and blushed a bit, burying his face in V's shoulder.
He hugged the other close, resting his head on his. "h-hey nath? Uhm…I know this is a sensitive topic…" Don't…you'll only hurt him or yourself more… " But..I wouldn't ask if it were important…" You'll make him feel guilty… "H-how was it like to break your wings?" his voice came out in a hoarse whisper, barely able to get the words out
"O-Oh, um…" Nathaniel thought for a moment, a bit taken aback by the question. "Well, it was really hard for me since I was so young and it happened during a traumatic event… um… it… it was especially difficult to take in because of my age, if that makes sense?" He said weakly. "Um… I didn't fully understand, and I still had my whole life ahead of me, and then they told me I couldn't do the one thing that tends to define an angel… since angels' life force is in their wings, I felt crumpled and empty for so long… my soul felt like it was constanly in immense pain…"
V shut his eyes, hating himself for asking nathaniel to tell him about his worst experience again. he held him a bit tighter, hoping it comforted him a bit. "how'd you get through it? all the pain and emptiness?" he asked softly, burying his face in the smaller angel's shoulder, finding comfort in his warmth
"Well… mostly with your help." He kissed V's cheek lightly, seeming a bit gloomy. "If you weren't there to encourage me and feed me sweet nothings, I would… I-I would've…" He looked away, his eyes stinging with tears. He couldn't finish, but it was pretty clear what he was saying. I wouldn't be alive today…
he pulled away slight, never having realized that Nathaniel was willing to do that to himself. "I..i.." he couldn't find the words for bit, opening and closing his mouth to try to formulate words. "they weren't sweet Nothings," he finally managed through a choking sound in his throat. he pulled the other as close as possible, holding him to his chest "those were promises. Promises that still hold true today."
Nathaniel nodded shakily, drawing in a few wavering breaths as tears started rolling down his cheeks. He buried his face in V's chest as he trembled, his crooked wings hanging limp on his back. "I'm s… I'm s-sorry… I didn't mean to upset you…" He managed to choke out, his throat restricting and tightening from tears.
V shook his head as he stroked Nathaniel's head "No love, it's not your fault, I'm the one who asked. I didn't mean to upset you." He pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek and rocked back and forth soothingly. "I just wanted to know…" he murmured, brushing away the tears that fell from Nathaniel's eyes
Nathaniel hiccuped and clung to V like his life depended on it. Honestly, one of the reasons he was so emotionally attached to V was that he attributed the other to saving his life. V was the one who gave him a reason to keep going when all he wanted was to kill himself, putting it bluntly. When he was stuck alone on earth and his strongest desire was to get back to heaven and the only way he could think of doing that was suicide, thoughts of V changed his mind, albeit paired with his own 'cowardice', or at least what he would call cowardice.
V held the other, stifling a gasp of pain as his arms tightened around his injured wind. he rubbed his back rhythmically while gently stroking his wings. "you're okay, love. No one's ever going to hurt you again, I swear it." He murmured into his ear, picking the smaller one up and bringing him over to the couch
