"Okay Alex, you're not going to mess this one up," Alex said, prepping himself. The cafe was full of people, and gigs were not something he was used to. He peeked out the curtain at the people gathered around. Someone else was singing right now, and he was next. Kay's Place always did things like this - they gave amateurs a chance to perform in front of people, and today, Alex was offered a spot. He started fiddling with his string, a habit of his when he was nervous.

(idk I thought an amateur night at a popular cafe/restaurant would be kinda popular XD)

Max had settled down in one of the chairs to watch the amateurs play. He had never played anything before, so he was excited to watch. He curled his string around his finger until it couldn't wrap anymore, then unraveled it again and again

Thayer wandered into the cafe, eyes low. They were always nervous for some reason, though they’d been here often. They weren’t out either, so most people didn’t realize they were nb, but if they found out… Maybe that’s why I’m always nervous.

Tae-Min patted his violin, a bit anxious. He'd never played in front of a crowd before.

Btw, if someone's soulmate is close enough, if they play with the string their soulmate can kinda feel it. Not sure if that makes sense…. let's just say [since Alex and Thayer are quite close rn] Alex started tugging on his side of the string, Thayer would probably be able to feel the string being pulled. Hope that makes sense :)

The act finished and came offstage. Alex slung his guitar over his shoulder and walked onto the stage. He tried to be as calm as possible, but he was internally dying. He quickly tuned the guitar then started playing Ed Sheeran's 'The A Team'.

(Yeah, it kinda is. You can follow the string if you want, but it would probably be difficult, especially if they're moving around in cars and stuff. You can only feel tugs and stuff if you're close enough to them, but other than that it's pretty easy to find your soulmate.)

(Yeah, I think on page 2 or 1. Thayer and Alex, Max and Nikki, Tae-Min and Amara, Evelynn and Atticus are the soulmate pairs I'm pretty sure. I don't think we actually confirmed them though..)

Thayer watched the previous guitarist walk off the stage, then switched their attention to the next person. Maybe I’ll perform some day… That’s it. Their life was full of maybes. They sighed and fiddled with the string.

Alex felt a pull on the string and looked at it, still playing. He glanced up and saw how many people were in the cafe, then looked back down. Looking at the audience would only make him more nervous.

The next in line was a singer. Not realizing it, they had started to bunch up the string slightly, dreaming of what it’d be like to be on that stage and be that singer.

Nikki was lying in her bed doing nothing. She normally did that. It took her mind of things. Like how she would kill herself

Alex looked at the string again when he felt a tug. This was new… he looked up at the audience again, and saw the string leading into them. He noticed that it didn't leave the building. No way…

They glanced around, seeing as the string didn’t lead outside. Not really seeing anything, they instead tried to follow the string with their eyes. It disappeared behind another couple,who honestly looked like they wanted nothing more than to go home and watch Netflix.
