Lily giggled. “Okay, but I want one of our grandchildren to film it,” she replied with a small shake of her head, not realizing what she had said.
Lily giggled. “Okay, but I want one of our grandchildren to film it,” she replied with a small shake of her head, not realizing what she had said.
Daeshim looked at her slightly confused, but with a smile. "You know what you just said, right?" He asked. He felt strangely happy to hear it though. Like he wanted that to happen.
“Hmm?” she asked, trying to think back to what she’d said…oh. “Oh, um, I didn’t—I didn’t mean it like that though, you know.” She was definitely blushing. Well I’m making this a hundred times more embarrassing.
Dae's smile grew slightly. "It's okay if you did though," His voice lowered a bit, almost a whisper, "I would almost prefer that…" He looked a bit shy for the first time in a while saying that. He desperately wanted to get something from his car, but he didn't know how to get there without a solid reason.
Lily looked back up at him, smiling a bit through her fire engine red blush. “Really?” she asked quietly. “You mean that?”
"I mean, yeah." Dae looked over at Lily as well, locking eyes with her. He felt a rush of heat go to his face, pink filling his cheeks.
She was certain she looked like a tomato, but beamed at him. “That kind of slipped out, but I wouldn’t mind it either,” she admitted shyly.
By then, Daeshim's swing was almost at the bottom since he hadn't been pumping his legs. He was still looking at Lily, but he realized and looked down at the ground. He didn't know what to do or feel or how to react.
Lily had stopped pumping her legs as well, her swing getting low to the ground too. She glanced at her feet for a moment, unsure what to make of his reaction. She was sure he was being honest earlier, and that made her happy but now he seemed just as confused and unsure as she did. "I, um…I didn't mean to make things awkward, you know…you're my best friend…and, I…I don't know what I would do without you…and I can't imagine my life without you in it…please say something…" she stammered, hating the non-response he had given. She was so worried that she had screwed everything up.
Dae looked over at Lily, a comforting smile on his face. He stopped his swing and got off, going over to Lily's. He stopped her's as well and held out his arms, welcoming her in a hug. "I don't know if I could function without you in my life. You didn't make anything awkward, don't worry."
Lily relaxed as she felt his arms around her, hugging him back. "Thanks, Dae, you're the best," she said softly, laying her head on his shoulder.
Daeshim turned his head slightly and kissed Lily's head. "Of course, dear." He then leaded his head on her's.
She blushed at the pet name, glad that her hair was concealing her face this time. For a moment she just stood like that with her arms around Daeshim, not knowing what to say but also not really feeling like she needed to say anything. She was mostly just relieved everything was fine between them.
"So, I was going to do something special since I felt like you deserved it, but one, I didn't get it done, and two, right now is the best moment ever. So would you like to go to Homecoming with me?" Daeshim asked. He did find a cool idea that he liked and wanted to do, but he hadn't had time to make a poster or anything. And it was definitely a very good time to ask Lily.
Lily pulled back from the hug for a moment to look Daeshim in the eyes. "Of course!" she responded happily, smiling again. She was so excited he had finally asked her. She had secretly wanted him to ask her to homecoming every year, but was too nice to turn down anyone else who happened to ask her.
Daeshim smiled widely as he looked into her warm brown eyes. "Oh man, I'm so glad you said yes!" He wrapped his arms around her again, picking her up and spinning her around once this time.
Lily laughed with joy as he did that. She got the fluttery feeling in her stomach again. "I'm so glad that you asked!" she replied, grinning so wide that her cheeks hurt for a moment.
"I'm glad no one already asked you!" Daeshim let go of her and took Lily's hand, lacing their fingers. "You wanna go get bubble tea now?" He asked excitedly.
"Yes, for sure!" she agreed, just as excited. A warm, fuzzy feeling settled into her stomach. Things weren't only back to normal between her and Daeshim, they were great!
Dae lead her to his car and opened her door, once again. Once she got inside, he closed the door and ran to the driver-side. He got in and started the car. Of course, he took a back road. He reached his right hand to Lily's hand and held it, a smile on his face.
She squeezed his hand for a moment before just letting their hands rest on the console. She stared out the window, as usual, but glanced back at Daeshim every now and again with a smile. Her cheeks were still slightly flushed, but it wasn't super noticeable.
Dae took his hand off the wheel for a second to turn on the radio. He turned onto a more prominent road but it still wasn't the main road. He also kept glancing to Lily, once or twice locking eyes.
Lily started humming along to the song, not knowing the words very well. Her eyes sparkled with excitement and her happiness to be here with Daeshim right now.
Dae finally turned into the bubble tea place and parked. He let go of Lily's hand and got out only to open her door with a smile one his face.
"Thank you!" she chirped, hopping out of the car like usual. She took one of his hands in hers, intertwining their fingers.
Daeshim smiled with a little nod and closed the door, pressing the lock button after. They walked together to the door and inside. Bubble tea was easily one of his favorite drinks and he was very excited to try this place.
Inside the shop, it smelled sweet and the sound of conversation and soft, yet upbeat, music were heard. The tiles on the ground were pink and white, with tan walls and a friendly-looking cashier. The place seemed nice. There were a couple people in front of Lily and Daeshim in line, so Lily glanced at the menu posted above the ordering spot. "What are you thinking of getting?" she asked.
"Oh, I'm not sure! There are so many options and combinations." Dae looked so mesmerized by everything. He was like a kid in a candy shop.
Lily giggled at his expression. “I think I’m going with the chocolate chocolate milk tea,” she said thoughtfully, though it wasn’t exactly a surprise because she loved all things chocolate.
"Sounds like a good choice, you can never go wrong with chocolate," Dae said with a smile, snapping out of his trance. He scanned the flavors and specials, trying to decide. "Maybe I should have you pick one for me. I still can't decide." He still had a smile and he looked over at Lily.
