"Wow…" Lucas looked up at the cathedral in awe, his grip on his hood slackening slightly. This place is beautiful… He kept staring at it, snapped out of his daze when he was jostled roughly by the crowd. I have only seen pictures of it before.
Callie reached out to pull Lucas' hood farther over his face, hesitated, and then quickly did it so he could put his hand back in his pocket. It is nice. Come on, He signed with his other hand, leading Lucas farther into the city.
Lucas went after him, looking around as they walked. Although it was in his nature to be polite, he avoided talking to anyone for fear of being recognized and turned in. He kept his hood up, hoping it was enough.
There weren't too many grand sights in this part of the city besides that cathedral, but there was the DeFleur home, which Callie pointed to as they passed it. Know that house?
I've seen it before, but not up close. Lucas approached the house curiously.
Callie followed him, looking around cautiously to make sure no one was paying any attention to them.
Lucas carefully placed one hand onto the house, looking up at it still. He was intrigued by it for some reason.
You've met the people? Callie signed to him slowly, letting him take it all in. He passed this house every day at least, but never gotten this close.
Lucas nodded, turning back to face Callie. They are wealthy, I think. They come to the boring dinners.
Callie smiled, although he didn't make any noise. Although he could learn to speak if he wanted to, any words he made now sounded garbled and weren't really understand, so it was rare to see him make any noise at all, to even laugh or hum.
Lucas went back over to Callie and kept walking with him, humming quietly to himself.
There wasn't much else to see in the city that Callie thought could ever compare to anything Lucas had seen before. There was the pier, of course…well, he could show him the pier. Callie didn't normally go near it much, because he was halfway made of metal, but he would do it for the prince. Lucas.
Lucas's face lit up at the sight of his city, looking around eagerly. He became quite well acquainted with the sign for 'sorry' from bumping into Callie so much when distracted. He kept his hood up as Callie began leading him to the pier.
And Callie had to use the sign for 'it's okay' many times as well, reassuring Lucas every time. Eventually the smell of sea salt wafted towards them, and the city began to thin out to make way for the large pier.
Lucas looked out onto the ocean, in awe. It's gorgeous. He stepped a bit further onto the wet dock, watching the fisherman bring in their full nets.
I don't come here often, Callie signed back, gesturing to one of his hands. But it is.
Lucas nodded and stepped closer, now quite close to the water. A rather strong gust of wind came by and blew his hood off, making him lose his balance and fall into the water as well.
Callie's eyes widened, and he raced to the edge of the dock, plunging his hand in the water without thinking about what he was doing in the hopes Lucas would grab onto it. Little voices in his head were screaming at him, saying that his hand would rust, that Lucas probably couldn't swim, that they'd both be found, but he was just trying to get him back to land.
Lucas couldn't swim, but he managed to find Callie's hand and pull himself up enough to at least have his head above water. He coughed, his soaked hair falling over one of his eyes.
Callie's lips had parted a little, as if meaning to yell but unable to, although he was sure a couple noises slipped out. He reached out his other hand for Lucas to grab, pulling him up afterwards.
Lucas sat on the ground once Callie dragged him out, coughing up more water. He was shivering violently, which was understandable since he was soaking wet and it was a rather crisp, chilly morning.
Callie glanced around, panicking and looking for a place where he could take Lucas for the time being. And there it was. The little room in the little alleyway where he always went to duck out of being caught or harrassed. But how to get him there…?
Well, he would have to pick him up, because Lucas didn't seem like he could walk even that far on his own right now. So he did, carefully moving his arms under Lucas' legs and back. He stood quickly, ducking into the alleyway and pushing the door open with his back, shutting it behind him and setting Lucas down on a bed low to the ground.
Lucas blushed when Callie picked him up, but he couldn't exactly stop coughing right now. Thank god they hadn't managed to attract too much attention, or they definitely would've been followed. His violent shaking hadn't ceased and his breath was short and heavy. He couldn't communicate with Callie just yet; his hands were shaking too much to effectively sign. He knew he'd just have to wait until he relaxed a bit.
((they say they haven't attracted too much attention as if the literal prince hadn't just fallen in the ocean and then his boyfriend picked him up and ran away lmao))
Callie went over to the wall and flipped a couple switches, pressing what looked like a thermostat up to a higher temperature. He took off his own jacket, slinging it over his arm and signing to Lucas that he needed to take his own hoodie off.
(It's probably like five am lmao)
Lucas blushed more, seeming hesitant. He waited a few seconds before sitting up and tentatively pulling off his wet jacket, hugging his chest tightly. He seemed fit enough, but there weren't any sharp edges on his body. He looked rather delicate, almost, his sides smooth and soft. The only blemishes he had were on his arms, though those were mostly hidden.
((fair but like still))
Callie smiled softly, reassuring him that it was okay without having to sign - while of course blushing a little bit. He handed over his own jacket to Lucas, hanging the old one up on a hook before going to sit next to the bed.
Lucas gratefully took the jacket and pulled it around himself, hesitating before nervously leaning against Callie. He was still freezing; he didn't really have much body fat to keep him warm, after all, and his hair was only beginning the process of drying.
Callie's soft smile stayed where it was, and he supported Lucas' weight, looking down at his own hands. He didn't have a towel in the room, so he would have to treat his hands back at his own apartment, even if they had rusted a little by then.
Lucas jumped when he heard knocking on the door, startled. He stared at it, a man's voice coming through. "Hello? Anyone in there?" He stayed silent, his eyes wide with fear as he huddled against Callie.
Callie's eyebrows furrowed, his eyes glancing from Lucas to the door. He pointed to it with a confused expression, asking silently if someone was there.
