Vivian slowly and carefully pulls out a roll of thick bandages, some cotton balls, and a small bottle. The supplies should work well for the wound but she can't be certain until she gets a better look at it.
"Could you please sit down?" She knows that the peroxide is going to sting so she figures that it'll be best for it….him, she's decided that the creature is male, to sit down. Glancing around, she spots a flashlight. Any extra light will really help her out.
The other abnormalities are throwing her off a little but she tries not to show how uneasy she is. A box of gloves sitting on a shelf catches her attention. Perfect. She picks up two of the blue gloves and pulls them on. This small action causes her to feel much better about checking out his wound.
Again, his response is slow, but he seems to comply. “Oh. Sure.” He speaks. His voice sounds..surprisingly human, for a creature like him. He seems to look around before realizing this is an infirmary, where there are bound to be beds. He backs up and sits down, glancing down at his own wound.
Nils didn’t know how long he’s been bleeding for, but the blood loss doesn’t seem to affect him too much. Though he doesn’t want to risk anything. He’s pretty sure if you can bleed, you most definitely can die, so he doesn’t want a cut to be the cause of his demise.
He stays silent, glancing around.
Once the creature has sat down, Vivian cautiously approaches. She glances at him briefly before kneeling down to inspect the wound. It's pretty deep but it doesn't look infected. For a moment she just studies it, trying to decide if it will require stitches or if she can get away with just heavily bandaging it. In the end, the bandages are what she decides on.
"This might sting a little," She warns as she dips a cotton ball in the peroxide. She makes sure that he's still okay with this before she begins to carefully clean up the wound. The amount of blood causes her to go through quite a bit of cotton balls but she manages to get it to stop bleeding. She finishes cleaning it out before applying the bandages.
"Okay, I'm done."
Nils didn’t seem too affected by the sting. He just watched closely, maybe interested. Once she finished, he seemed to inspect the covered up wound. Deciding it was satisfactory, Nils turned back towards her.
“T..thanks.” He spoke, before deciding on what to do next. Finally, he went on a bit of a risky move, choosing to reveal his name and status. Who he was. Maybe he could try and figure out what happened.
“Nils. Nils Aaby.” He suddenly stated. “Who are you?” He asked.
Vivian stands and peels the gloves off, disposing of them in a nearby trash can. Without saying a word, she cleans up the mess she made. This isn't her home so she's not going to be rude and ruin it by leaving out a bunch of stuff.
"You're welcome." She offers a slight smile in return. Maybe she can been overreacting earlier when she threw that baton at his head. It doesn't seem like he wants to cause her any harm. In fact, he doesn't seem aggressive at all.
"Oh, um……my name is Vivian. Vivian Hendrix."
Again, he tilts his head, but he goes back to normal. Nils glances around again, before saying what he was going to before. He decided it was best to start with names before anything, which they already got down. So he could move on.
“I was..a pilot here. Base Iota, I believe that is where we are. Maybe one of the bunkers.” He didn’t specify what type of pilot he was. He stands up, slowly.
“Have you seen anyone else around here?” He questioned.
Stepping back when he stands, she makes sure to maintain at least a few feet of distance between them. It's not personal. She just doesn't know him.
A pilot? A pilot for who? I don't even know what Base Lota is. Vivian frowns as she listens to him talk. None of this makes any sense to her. What is she even supposed to do with this information? Besides, he could very well be lying to her. She has no way to check what he's saying.
"No, I haven't. I just woke up here a few minutes ago."
He seems to watch her react, but it’s a bit hard, even at this distance to see. Nils wanted to figure out why that was happening. And..to his realization, he wasn’t able to see a lot of colours anymore. Everything was sort of red tinted for whatever reason.
“Ah.. same as me, then. Minus the minutes part..” Nils wasn’t sure how long he was up. He was here long enough to have tried various times to take off his gear, but it was almost as if something didn’t want him to remove it. It was almost like it was apart of him. But that was just silly. Stuff like that couldn’t just happen.
“Well, we both probably have no clue what’s happening, but I do know this bunker probably a bit more than you do.” He stated. “Would you happen to have any food on you?” He asked, recalling one of his objectives from before.
The fact that his eyes are constantly on her makes her uncomfortable. She's not brave enough to say or do anything about it though. That means that she's stuck forcing herself to accept this. She doesn't think he's doing it to make her uncomfortable so that helps her make peace with it.
"Is there a way out? I couldn't fine the door. How long have you been here?" Vivian knows that she needs to calm down with the questions but she's dying to know what's going on. Waking up only to find herself in a strange place is confusing and tarrying. She just wants to get some answers so she can try and make sense of all of this.
She shakes her head. "No, just this stun gun and the bag. I don't even know how or why the stun gun is with me." She sighs quietly and adjusts her curly red ponytail. "So you don't know what's going on at all?" That's definitely concerning.
“There’s a way out, yeah.” He nodded. “Things are a bit fuzzy though. I don’t know what happened. I just woke up under some rubble, had to get myself out. I was wandering for maybe..hours?” It was hard to tell time, sometimes.
“Don’t know how long I’ve been here though in total.” Nils decided on his final answer.
He was a bit disappointed by her not having any food. He’d have to settle with that for now. Maybe they’d find something later or something. After a moment of trying to recall some of his information, he responded.
“There are signs, I believe. One of them should lead to the stairs, where you can take up to reach the upper levels. From there, it should be smooth sailing to the exit.” If that was how he remembered it either. He flinched, suddenly, as his vision seemed to ‘glitch’ - no wait, that wasn’t right. He was human, right? That couldn’t happen to humans. His hands raised to his head momentarily before he recovered again and lowered them. He awaited a response.
The longer this conversation goes on, the more confused she gets. She just doesn't understand what's going on. Neither of them know what's going on or why they're here. Frowning at his answers, she glances around the room. Clearly someone had prepared for people being here. But who? And why?
"You wouldn't happen to know what's outside, would you?" Vivian isn't exactly eager to walk into an unknown situation. Someone wants them to be in this bunker. It's probably for a reason.
She blinks in surprise when he raises is hands to his head. Is she missing something? Probably. She studies him for several moments, wanting to make sure that he doesn't have an injury on his head or something. There doesn't appear to be a cut or a bruise or a blood or anything of the sort. That's good. She sighs softly and nervously wrings her hands. Everything is greatly concerning. There are just so many things she doesn't understand. She hates every single second of this.
“Outside?” His voice sounds tired. “Uh.. rock. Lots of it. Flat land for miles, no mountains in sight. Very cloudy sky. Rarely any sunlight.” He paused. Nils was beginning to remember things as he spoke. Not everything, but some things. Which was good, sort of.
“Are you from.. no, never mind.” He drifted off, looking away. He walked forwards, past her a little, and towards the door, then he stopped, again. Nils turned back to the counter of the infirmary, with all the different cupboards and storage areas. He began to open every single one that he didn’t from before, looking inside, as if searching for something.
"Where are we?" Vivian frowns deeply, more confused than ever. She lives in a city. A really big city. She shouldn't be anywhere near a place like this. The only time she's been near a rocky flat land was on a trip to Nevada. There had been mountains there though.
Here eyes follow him as he begins to search through the cabinets. "Am I from where?" All of this unknown is making her uneasy. "What are you looking for?" The questions are never ending and yet almost none of them have been properly answered. It's frustrating. With a heavy sigh, she sits down on the edge of the cot and watches as Nils looks through everything.
“We’re on Utheon,” he said, ever so casually as he contI used to look. Moments passed when he growled, frustrated that he didn’t find anything in the drawers. The growl wasn’t exactly human either, but he didn’t seem to notice. He stood up and looked around, before seeing one last place he hadn’t searched - it was like a fridge, of some sorts.
He walked towards it and opened it, searching it again, and to answer her question, he responded with a single word.
“Food.”
She stares at him like he's crazy. Utheon? Is that in Europe or something? Wait…..he said *on. That doesn't make any sense.* The sudden growl causes her to tense up. It's not a very human like noise. That leads her to go back to wondering what Neils is. She doesn't think that he's human but he's not exactly not human either. A hybrid of some sort, perhaps? She has no idea.
"Isn't there a kitchen in here? There might be food there." It seems like the most logical place to look but she doesn't want to be rude and bluntly point it out.
Nils seems to glance up, nearly hitting his head on the fridge. “Oh. You’re right.” He realizes.
“It’s not too far from here, if I recall correctly. There’s signs almost everywhere.” He speaks, slowly standing up. He closes the fridge, not sure what he expected to find in there. “Are you going to be coming along with..me?” Nils asked.
Vivian suppresses an amused smile at his actions. That had actually been pretty funny.
"Mm, I might as well. There's no point in me staying in the infirmary." Standing up, she places the bag on her shoulder, not wanting to leave it. "You wouldn't know how to get to New York, would you?" She asks, hoping that he'll know how she can get home.
“New..York?” He drifts off, for a moment. “..that’s on a completely different planet. We’re on Utheon, like I said.” Nils explains, slightly confused.
He turns to the door again, walking to it.
"But…..but I was in New York yesterday! I haven't left the city in a year, let alone the planet!" Vivian yelps, her eyes going wide. "I need to get back home."
Not wanting to be left behind, she hurries after him.
Nils glances back at her, watching her trail after. With this new addition, he was slightly confused as to how this woman was on Earth just yesterday. Speaking of Earth.. Nils hadn’t been there in sometime. He was scheduled to go back again, but..
He couldn’t remember it. Nils continued to walk forwards, having to go near the signs to read them properly. Finally, he caught sign of one that said ‘dining hall.’
“It’s this way.”
Vivian cautiously looks around as they walk through the bunker. It's still creepy, even with the light. She misses home. It's only been about an hour since she woke up here but the feeling of dread that she's had has yet to go away. There must be a reason for that.
Following Nils' gaze, she takes note of the sign that gives directions to the dinning room. It's nice to now that they're making some process.
"Lead the way."
Nils nodded, walking towards the room. It was clean, mostly. No one was really in here as far as he was aware besides them, but he also recalled they really liked to keep this place clean. The dining room was somewhat big, built more like a cafeteria if anything. There were a lot of workers around here, so they needed enough space. Or there were a lot.
Connected to it was the kitchen, where hopefully he could find something to eat. Silently, he walked in, heading for the door to the kitchen to hopefully take a look around.
Vivian pauses and studies the dining room. There are a lot of tables and chairs. It reminds her of a cafeteria. Why is there so much space? There must have been other people here. But where are they now? She frowns at the though. What if something bad happened? That thought just makes her all the more nervous. Now her mind is running wild with all of the possibilities.
She shutters before following Nils into the kitchen. It's big as well. Hopefully it'll be well stocked with food. Who knows how long they'll be stuck here?
Nils began to search, but he didn’t need to for very long when he came across some meat. It was only a little bit, which was enough for him. Raw, too, but he seemed to not care. Well, he didn’t care too much.
He glanced around. It seemed that in the kitchen the lights were a bit duller, which caused the pale ‘mushrooms’ on his right shoulder to slightly glow a faint blue. On his left shoulder was a ragged brown cloth that he’d fastened to himself earlier, probably for a reason. That reason was revealed when he lifted the cloth to show a long tongue which was connected to a mouth..on his left shoulder. Around that area, anyways. He seemed to give the food to the mouth, just staying silent.
Nils was feeling a bit awkward at the moment.
Vivian eyes the mushrooms on his shoulder warily. That's definitely not normal. She takes a small step back and blinks several times to make sure that they're glowing and that she's not just seeing things. Nope, they're definitely glowing.
The mushrooms dull in comparison to the mouth on his shoulder. What the fuck? She rarely curses, even in her head, but this is just too crazy for her. Opening and closing her mouth several times but no noise comes out. What is she supposed to say? She quickly closes her mouth and forces herself not to stare. That would be rude and she doesn't want to upset him. It's not like he can help the fact that he has a mouth on his shoulder. She offers a slight reassuring smile.
Nils ‘finished’ moments later by taking what was left - a bone, completely cleaned off. It was rather small. He covered back up his shoulder and set the bone down with a sigh.
“Did you need anything?” He asked, not bothering to comment on what had just happened. He wasn’t sure what their current plan was - maybe to see what happened or to get out of here.
Vivian averts her eyes and decides to just finish looking around. That had been……interesting and now she's left wondering what else is different about him. For instance, is that his only mouth? It's odd to think about.
"No, I'm not hungry." Shaking her head, she riffles through the cabinets. There are a few items that interest here but she's not really wanting food at the moment. She wants a plan.
Nils turns away again. “Alright.” He kind of just walks around, like he’s unsure what to do right now. Which he sort of is. He’s also currently trying to figure out what he exactly is. There’s no way he’s no longer a human. But his mind keeps on denying that part, for some odd reason.
He seems to be looking around again. Nils walks towards the sink in the kitchen - there’s a mirror above it, which he seems to be interested in. While his vision is blurry, he’s able to see himself in this mirror, which seems appealing to him.
“There’s probably some gear we can pick up in the transmissions room. I think it’s near the stairs, though.”
Vivian places a few times of food and some water bottles in her bag. She doesn't know how long they'll be stuck here so she figures that it's better to be safe than sorry. The food that she took will only last a few days if rationed properly so if she leaves the bunker she'll have to be careful.
Once more, she trails after him. This place is like a maze to her and she'd rather not get lost. In order to achieve a sense of direction, she sticks close to Nils. She is now long past being scared of him. If he wanted to hurt or kill her than he would've done it already.
"Let's go check it out. You know how to use the gear, right? Because I probably won't."
Nils began to go on the direction of the transmission room. “Yes. I just hope I have a good enough memory to remember where it everything is, seeing as my vision isn’t the best right now.”
It would be some time before they arrived, since the stairs were a bit of ways away. Nils observed the hallways. Some of them were familiar, but at the same time, so far away, like a distant memory.
“I’m still having trouble realizing I’m no longer my normal self,” Nils muttered, mostly to himself.
