"Hey… let me see that." He prayed it was just a mark that he left and nothing too severe followed it.
"Hey… let me see that." He prayed it was just a mark that he left and nothing too severe followed it.
It seemed to be swelling a bit and was already beginning to leave a nasty bruise, but it didn't seem to be any more than that.
"Oh God… Cas… i'm sorry…"
Cas touched it again and winced. "It's okay…"
"No, it's not…It's not okay," he brushed his thumb along the bruise.
Cas flinched and shied away, cowering where he was on the ground.
"I could, um… I could take you to the doctor's. Or home?"
"Home, preferably…" Cas got to his feet, swaying from a horrible headache.
Cas had said he was forgiven, but he couldn't help but think otherwise. "I'll–I'll make it up to you anyway I can." He stood up, picking him up and holding him tight against his chest.
Cas closed his eyes when Sorin took off, his tail trailing behind them in the wind.
He rushed into the house the second he landed, setting Cas down on the couch and made his way to the freezer. He grabbed a pack of frozen peas and gently pressed it on Cas's cheek.
Cas hissed in pain and jumped off the couch, his hand back on his cheek as he stared distrustfully at the peas.
"Oh! Did I hurt you?" He walked over to Cas and gave him a worried look.
"It's too coooold…" Cas whined, shying away again. "It burns…"
Right. He ran up the stairs and grabbed a small towel, wrapping the beans within it before heading downstairs. "Here," he handed it to him, "it should feel a bit better now."
Cas tentatively tried it again, this time managing to keep it on. He curled up on the couch again and was silent.
Sorin knelt next to him, hesitantly holding his hand again. He stayed silent, closing his eyes and kissing his knuckles as a way to apologize again.
Cas watched Sorin quietly, trying to get the bad memories of his father out of his head. All he could hope was that he wouldn't start associating Sorin with pain.
The last thing he wanted was for Cas to be afraid of him. The thought of that made him sick. "Do you… Do you need me to get you anything else? Water? A blanket maybe?"
Cas slid off the couch and sat in Sorin's lap, still silent. If he tried something like this with his father, he'd be severely beaten. Knowing that Sorin wouldn't was comforting.
He wrapped his arms around his waist, pulling him closer as he rested his chin on the top of his head.
Cas lay his head on Sorin's shoulder, purring weakly. The makeshift ice pack hung limp in his hand,, discarded for the moment.
Sorin picked it up for him and held it in place for him, the other hand, petting him gently. I should've been more careful.
Cas shivered when the ice touched him again, clinging to Sorin. Just don't think about it… he didn't mean to… he didn't mean to…
"Do you…Do you want me to put it down? If you need the ice, then i'm alright with holding it for you until you don't."
"It's fine… y-you just surprised me…" Cas said softly, staying very still once he got used to the cold.
"Okay… just let me know when you can't bare it anymore," It's an accident… just an accident.
He nodded, staying quiet for a few minutes. "It's starting to hurt now…"
Sorin set the peas aside, his eyes lingering on the bruise. "Do you need anything else?"
"No, I'm okay." Cas seemed to have relaxed a bit more, but the bruise still grew ever darker.
