"Nothing." He held the fork up to his mouth. "Here."
"Nothing." He held the fork up to his mouth. "Here."
Cas reluctantly took the food. "I'll get it out of you somehow."
"There's nothing to get out." Sorin grabbed his glass of water and put the rim in his mouth.
"You say that like I'll believe you. Now, you gotta eat too, love."
"Why would I lie to you?" Sorin set the water down and took a bite out of his salad.
"Because you're afraid of upsetting and or overwhelming me with information that troubles you. It's why she said you baby me."
Sorin tried to ignore his mention of Kyoko. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Cas sighed, looking up at Sorin. "You can't hide her from me forever, and vice versa."
Sorin took another bite of his salad. "Still don't know what you're talking about. I'm perfectly fine."
"Are you seriously gonna make me say it?" Cas sighed again. "Berenice. You're thinking about her. I know she did something to you or just in general in the past that is probably causing her to try and kill us now. I haven't gotten a straight answer."
"And you never will," Sorin said simply, taking another bite out of his salad, hoping Cas would just drop the conversation.
"Why not, love…?" Cas asked softly. "We're dating now and she's quite literally hunting us down. I feel like I have a right to know why."
He shrugged. "She wants me. It's something we both knew already." He took a sip of his lemonade and set it down.
"But why? What happened to make her this violent?" Cas asked, toying with his hair.
"A curse." Sorin leaned into his hand a bit.
"What kind of curse?"
"Something that always plagued her family's bloodline. A 'Devil's toxin' is what they'll call it. It affects every female born under her last name and Berenice just so happened to be the one," Brief memories of the human side of her flashed in his mind. "It turned her into what she is now." And Sorin had still loved her, despite it.
Cas nodded, considering. "How did she supposedly become demon queen or whatever?"
"Dictator, actually. But my older brother… had eyes for her and helped her get where she is now."
"You have a brother? What did he do?" Cas asked, seeming curious now.
"I have many, actually. He, um… considering his position as the king of hell, it wasn't that hard to put Berenice into power."
"…Your brother is Satan? How does that work?"
"He's a fallen angel."
"Well, yeah, but still…" Cas's voice trailed off. "How many brothers do you have?"
"I don't know… thousands maybe? Millions?"
"Wow… all like… same parents or what?" Cas was bewildered. There was no way that was possible, right?
Sorin smiled at him, enjoying his every reaction. "God creates us all."
"Ohhh… that makes more sense. How do angels get married then? Do you have to marry your brother or sister??"
"Angels aren't allowed to marry… or fall in love. Hence why I was kicked out in the first place."
"That sounds sad… You can't help it if you fall in love." Cas fidgeted with the tablecloth.
