"How?" Sorin watched as a dog ran past them, luckily not approaching them.
"How?" Sorin watched as a dog ran past them, luckily not approaching them.
"I couldn't afford it, so I didn't." Cas shrugged, tensing up at the scent of the dog. "Animals in the wild heal just fine. It's just a lot of licking your wounds, figuratively and literally."
He shrugged. "Still. It's not going to stop me from taking you to a doctor from time-to-time."
"Preferably one that doesn't smell like a drunkard lives there…" Cas muttered, sounding almost bitter. "Brings back bad memories, and I also can't breathe well."
Sorin lowered his head a planted a soft kiss on his temple. "I'm sorry, I didn't know the smell would bother you."
"Mm…" Cas pushed himself up so he could actually sit in Sorin's lap.
Sorin wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him closer, nuzzling his neck.
Cas kissed his cheek, purring. He winced a bit when he accidentally bumped his injured arm, but he said nothing.
"Careful, love," he brushed his nose up and down the curve of his neck.
"I'm trying…" Cas lifted his chin a bit to give Sorin more access. "Are we gonna make the boys pay for the hospital bill?"
"Of course," Sorin planted a light kiss on his skin. "That is, if I could find them."
"I'm sure the rink has video evidence we could use to our advantage." Cas shivered a bit.
"Yeah, we could," He stood up and held Cas in his arms. "But maybe tomorrow. You need to rest."
"Mm…" Cas lay his head on Sorin's shoulder, letting himself be carried. It was pretty obvious by now that he liked to be held.
He decided to walk home with him instead, enjoying the time he spent outside. Sorin took his keys out of his pocket and struggled to open the door, as Cas occupied his other, but eventually did.
Cas had fallen asleep on the way, his breathing soft and relaxed. His tail brushed the ground as Sorin walked.
Sorin loosely wrapped the tail around his hand before he walked up the stairs. He lied Cas down gently, covering him with blankets and pressed his lips on his forehead.
Cas smiled in his sleep, hugging Sorin's arm. His grip obviously wasn't too strong, and Sorin could escape easily if he wanted to.
He kissed him again with a smile on his face and climbed on next to him. Sorin planned on going downstairs to look for any available jobs on his laptop, but he would much rather spend his time with Cas.
Cas huddled close to Sorin, entwining their legs as he got comfortable. He was just about as close to Sorin as he could possibly be, and he seemed quite pleased about it.
Sorin lightly traced the outline of his mouth with fingers then went up to stroke his cheekbone with his thumb.
Cas stuck his tongue out a bit as he relaxed, purring. His ears drooped and his tail just flicked occasionally under the covers.
His heart fluttered at the sight. Sorin brushed his nose against his, a light shade of pink tinting his cheeks.
Cas meowed quietly and fell into a deeper sleep where he was fully unresponsive, still biting his tongue. He was warm, comfortable, and content, and he hadn't a care in the world.
Sorin yawned and kissed him on the tip of his nose before running downstairs. He threw away the pancake he hadn't eaten and picked up all the envelops he threw on the ground.
Getting a job wasn't something Sorin thought about too often. Living with Berenice meant he didn't have to lift a hand whenever he wanted something, but now, getting one was something he had to do for their sake. He plopped down on the couch, laptop in hand, and turned on the TV.
Cas slept through the night, waking up fairly early in the morning with a yawn. "Good morning lo-" He opened his eyes a bit and they widened upon realizing that Sorin wasn't there. He sat up with a start, whimpering while he looked around frantically. "S-Sorin?!" He threw the covers off of himself and jumped up, his heart racing. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit… He stepped backwards, knocking a lamp off the side table and startling himself with the loud sound it made.
Sorin had fallen asleep looking for jobs all night and jolted when he heard a thud upstairs. He blinked away the remaining tiredness in his eyes and narrowed his eyes on the clock just above the TV.
7:33
"Fuck." He didn't intend to stay down there for too long. Sorin threw his laptop aside and bolted up the stairs. Fuck. He opened the door, sighing in relief to see no harm had come to Cas.
Cas's head shot up when Sorin came in. He was standing like a deer in headlights; wide eyed with fear and shaking. After taking a few moments to process, he ran to Sorin and hugged him tightly.
Sorin wrapped his arms around him and smiled softly. "Sorry. I was going to come back up here but… I fell asleep."
"Y-You scared me…" Cas whispered. "I… I thought you were gone…" Although Cas could usually realize he was being irrational after the fact, it was much harder to tell himself his fears were unrealistic while still experiencing them. In his mind right now, it was plenty likely that Berenice had returned in the night to kill Sorin.
