Risosu gave a low groan, muttering darkly under his breath. His eyes were currently glaring elsewhere in the spacious room that was getting fuller by the minute. He shifted a bit, seemingly uneasy. The sudden tension in the air, it had him on edge, ready to shift and defend himself if the situation suddenly called for it.
As for his sister, Maria lightly tugged on her brother's sleeve, muttering something for his ears alone. When she finished whatever it was she said, she paused to take a swig out of the canteen, glancing around a bit as well.
Sighing again, Cam put her notebook up.
"Well, I'm stuck here now. Might as well get drunk or something before one of them comes to pick me up." With that, she stepped past Risosu and Maria to get something to drink.
The female, Valory (I finally decided on a name for her) flipped her hair back and settled herself on a nearby couch. She pulled a white leather notebook from behind her, and a gold pen. A gold pendant was wrapped around it, and she put it on. She flipped to a brand new page, and idly began doodling Talia's head.
Cam stepped out of the kitchen and sat down on the other end of the couch with a martini, pulling her legs up and chuckling to herself.
"They would kill me if they saw me drinking," she muttered to herself.
"Oh is that so?" the woman questioned. Her eyes narrowed. "You'd be surprised at what I can do." But, seeing as she didn't know anyone, she knew better than to get them all riled up.
"I don't doubt your capabilities I just think mine are better." Talia took a swig from her bottle. "Try me bitches. I'm bored."
"Great, a bunch of drunks ready to go at each other's throats,"Risosu muttered.
He didn't seem too bothered as a female brushed past him and his sister. His multicolored eyes were constantly shifting back and forth, body tense and ready to move. Despite usually always a bit more on edge when among groups, he seemed worse amongst these current individuals. Too little space, not enough room to move freely without bumping into something or someone.
Even Maria seemed a bit more on edge than much earlier. A low rumble seemed to be coming from the young woman. The pupils in her eyes seemed to narrow slightly. Her hand shifted to her side again, but then went limp. She had been going for another drink, but she didn't want to suck it all down in one go. Getting more meant they would need to leave entirely, or find a more secluded place away from everything. Her brother would most likely prefer just leaving.
"Challenging me, hey?" Valory snorted, then laughed loudly. "Let's take this outside then." While she put up a confident front, she was watching, observing Talia very closely. She watched her every action, waiting for a hint as to why she seemed so confident. Her own confidence was a natural front she put on, to mask, disguise what she does behind the stage. She watches, observes the others around her. Noticing the tiny little details that others might not notice at first.
She noticed that the male, Risosu had multicoloured eyes, his body was tense, and on edge. The area directly around him was crowded, and the girl beside him, Maria, seemed less relaxed now. Valory noticed the limp hand, and chuckled softly. She was quite relaxed here on the couch, if she was being honest.
"Why the hell not?" Talia marched outside bringing her bottle with her. "Your funeral." Even if Talia wasn't incredibly drunk, she would be pretty confident. It was her job to torture people. Just because it was boring doesn't mean she was bad at it. She didn't even know who invited her to this party. She couldn't imagine why.
Cam, seeing things were escalating quickly, sat back, smiling. She was always in the mood for a good fight scene.
"Hey guys, save the fight for somewhere else." Steve sipped some punch. "The party'll get shut down if we have a fight in the front lawn."
Someone in back booed.
Steve set his cup down. "Don't get me wrong, I love a good fight, but everyone else here loves a good party just as well."
Sipping her martini, Cam rolled her eyes. Even if a fight didn't break out, she still enjoyed the tension in the room. Of course, if she herself got pulled into it she would most definitely not be able to really deal with it.
"Oh, come on! Fights are always better than parties!" She called out.
Steve smiled. "Well then, Let's see it." Steve opened the door and gestured to the driveway.
She didn't know why, though Valory had a feeling that Talia had done this kind of thing before. She followed Talia outside, observing Talia's posture and legs, watching for anything that might tip her off about her balance and weak points.
Talia grinned. She blinked and her eyes turned completely black. When she blinked again her eyes were back to normal.
“Let’s give the guests a good show then.” She pulled out a large curved blade, seemingly from nowhere. She could feel Valory analyzing her, looking her up and down. Like that would help.
Cam followed the procession outside, notebook ready to take notes. After all, a writer could always use tips on how to write aggressively.
Valory extended her wings to full length, and flew up so was hovering a good couple of yards above Talia.
"Enough showing off. Throw a punch." Talia ran up and jumped quite a bit higher than she should be able. She struck Valory in the shoulder with the blade and rolled when she landed. "Damn, beer goggles. I aimed for your face."
Steve pulled out his phone and started recording. "Why is no one questioning the wings?"
Instantly, Maria began shifting back and forth uneasily. A frown crossed her features, very clearly upset about what was happening. Risosu shifted his gaze to his sister, the air instantly changing around them. 'Big Brother' seemed to kick in; protect, defend.
"Ri-Ri…I don't want there to be blood."
Maria only ever called him that when extremely upset. This put the male even more on edge. His hands moved, lightly resting on either of her shoulders. His voice was low, calm, "Maria, did you remember to bring that special cloth La…Mom gifted you."
She looked up into his eyes, her yellow eyes were shining, pupils thin slits, "N-n-no…I forgot…"
Risosu sighed, then simply just pulled her into a hug, purposefully burying her head into his shoulder. His gaze shifted to the side, ignoring the looks from the others that even did take a moment to look, which was hardly anyone.
Cam glanced over slightly when the two siblings hugged, but she quickly turned her attention back to the fight.
Valory reeled back, stunned momentarily. She hissed in anger and swooped down and knocked Talia over with a strong sweep of her wing. She chuckled. "How'd you like that, huh?"
Talia shook off and hopped up. "What are you? An angel? I bet it fun being a brainwashed stooge. Now, how about you stop being so high and mighty and fold the damn wings." She threw her blade and it hit Valory in the right wing.
Valory hissed in pain, and anger. She took the knife out of her wing, blood staining her wing. "We'll see about that. And like I said, I'm not an angel," and with those words she threw the knife back at Talia, hitting her in the middle of her chest. Knowing better than to stay right where she was she flew up again.
Cam was furiously taking notes, noting each move they made. Oo, she was learning so much when it came to writing fight scenes!
Talia looked down at the knife in her chest. "Thanks for giving it back." She pulled it out and the blade disappeared from her hand. She spread out her arms. "Do your worse. I haven't figured out a way to kill myself, maybe you can."
Cam looked up at the mention of not dying, smiling to herself. It reminded her of one of her characters.
"Oh, well, I'm not intending to kill you, just, you know, defeat you, humanely," Valory replied.
Maria was gripping tightly to Risosu's jacket. The visible skin had turned white. Though, if anyone had been watching closely, they'd notice just the slightest change. The skin seemingly rippling into a more scaly texture, but then returning back to 'normal'. The woman was beginning to shake violently as the scent of blood from outside wafted inwards. Most likely others didn't notice, but when you weren't exactly 'human', your senses heightened, and blood was your main source of sustenance, it was hard to miss. Though, being Maria's age, she still found it hard to control.
Risosu barely felt the tightened grip, sharpened nails digging into his flesh through his clothes. His voice was soft for her ears, "Just keep calm Maria. We don't want you changing right here, cause that would mean I'd have to change."
And he knew if both of them changed, their cover would be blown, and no longer would they seem 'human' to blend in…plus they'd most likely be dealing with a creature driven mad by blood, and the second creature would be trying to hold the first one back and away from the rest of the party-goers.
"Well then what's the damn point?" Talia yelled. "That's all I want nowadays. You can keep knocking me over and stabbing me but nothing's gonna happen."
"You tell me, you challenged me," Valory replied. She hissed in pain. "But you still stabbed me, and that hurts." Her eyes flashed in anger.
