"You will be," Kyoko winked at Sorin and he turned away from her. "Now come on. I made breakfast for you two. If we wait here any longer, it'll get cold."
"You will be," Kyoko winked at Sorin and he turned away from her. "Now come on. I made breakfast for you two. If we wait here any longer, it'll get cold."
Cas stayed sitting quietly, not wanting to get up yet. He looked away, his face red enough to match his hair.
"Ignore her. C'mon," he scooped up Cas.
Cas flinched, startled, but he let Sorin carry him anyways. He lay his head on the other's chest as he tried to fight down his blush.
He followed Kyoko down the stairs and to an abnormally large dining room. The table was full of small bowls off rice, fish, steamed vegetables, and eggs. His mouth watered at the pleasant aroma.
Cas froze at the sight of fish, intrigued. A soft, rolling meow escaped his lips as he stared at it.
Sorin sat him down to a chair and sat next to him while Kyoko sat in front of the two. "You're welcome to grab whatever, and however much you want." She said as she added some eggs and vegetables to her plate.
Cas kept staring at the fish, his mouth watering. After a few seconds of hesitating, he tentatively reached out and grabbed one, huddling up in his chair to gnaw at it.
Sorin smiled softly and set the bowl of fish in front of him.
Cas purred lowly, his sharp teeth tearing easily through the fish. He seemed to relax more at this point, his tail twitching frequently.
"You like it?" Kyoko asked with a mouthful of eggs.
"Mhmm." Cas nodded, his mouth full of fish. He didn't seem to mind if there were any bones, as the cat in him meant he could eat them with no problem.
Sorin grabbed some steamed vegetables and some rice. He watched as Kyoko motioned one of her maids over and whisper something to her, but was shocked when she came back with a bottle of wine. "This early?"
Kyoko poured herself a glass. "It's never too early."
"Ooh, alcohol!" Cas watched as the bottle came in. "My dad drank alcohol all the time."
Kyoko choked on her wine.
"That's… terrible Cas. I'm sorry," he put a hand on his shoulder.
Cas seemed confused, glancing between Sorin and Kyoko incredulously. "What're you sorry for…?"
"I'm sorry you had to live like that. You didn't deserve it," Sorin gave him a look of sympathy.
"…I feel like I'm missing something." Cas lowered the fish he was holding.
"Did he…" Her voice trailed away and stayed silent for a few seconds. "Did he ever hit you?" Sorin lowered his spoon.
Cas went pale. "I… uh…" He didn't seem to want to answer, and he set his fish down on the table. He'd sort of lost his appetite at this point.
Sorin felt sick to his stomach. He caressed his cheek then pulled him into a loving embrace.
"N-Not when he was sober…" Cas whispered, still very pale as he let Sorin hug him.
Kyoko's lips quivered, her eyes began welling up with tears. She sniffed and wiped them away before she could let them fall then buried her face in her hands. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I truly am."
"It… it wasn't that bad…" Cas tried to argue weakly. "He just thought I was a stray cat when he was drunk and… um… hit me with things to get me out of the house…"
"That still doesn't make it okay."
Cas fell silent, unable to find any good arguments. He hid his face in Sorin's shoulder.
Sorin pulled him into his lap. Kyoko held the wine bottle up to Sorin and he nodded. He rubbed Cas's back as he watched Kyoko pour him a glass.
Cas purred softly at Sorin's petting, luckily not having had enough time to get too worked up. Right now he just seemed sort of weak and tired.
Sorin downed his wine and muttered a 'thank you', to which she merely nodded before he carried him upstairs. He set him down on their bed and put a blanket over him.
"Are you leaving…?" Cas asked quietly once Sorin had lain him down.
