William looked up, and narrowed his eyes, but scooted over, turning so she could get to his hands. He took a deep breath. "Bloody devils." He muttered. He sighed softly, shoulders slumping slightly. Damn it. Now they'll haul me right back home to uncle to be his puppet again. To be… Bile rose in his throat, and he swallowed, shaking his head again. No. I won't go back there. Not again.
(By the way, how old are they? Like in their 20s?)
(I was going to say that Kayla was 22 but we can adjust that age based off of Williams age.)
Kayla chuckled as he cursed. "You should be careful of who you curse out here." She said as she started to untie him. "You look like a noble. How did someone of your…status get involved with pirates?" She asked.
(22 is fine, i was going to have him be 24-25)
William sighed. "They attacked my ship. I was supposed to be well on my way to the colonies right now!" The colonies. America. Where he could have used the money he had had on him to disappear, set up a new life for himself, instead of what his uncle had in mind. Instead of…that. He had an English accent, though with a touch of Irish brogue to it.
She chuckled. "Not from around here, ey?" She said, it being more of a statement than a question. "Well, you're nowhere near the colines now. Welcome to the Caribbean, mate!" She said as she finished undoing the knots and sliding back to where she was when he first came down.
He groaned, and turned around. "Caribbean? Bloody…" He shook his head with a sigh. "Any idea what they're going to do with me, then?" He asked, looking over at her with raised eyebrows.
Kayla looked him up and down before putting her hat back over her eyes. "If they're smart then they will try to get a ransom off you at some out of the way navy post. If they're stupid then they will either kill you or try to get your ransom off a main navy post." She said nonchalantly.
William sighed, rubbing his face with his hands. The first two fingers on his left hand were slightly crooked, as if they'd once been broken and hadn't healed right. "Bloody hell, this is a mess." He muttered, tugging a hand through his hair. I can't go back. Not to uncle. Not ever. Not after… He swallowed.
Kayla chuckled. "Don't worry. I'm working on a plan to get out of here." She said with a grin. "I might bring you along. Tell me. How is your opinion on pirates?" She asked, she branded hand pushing a segment of hair behind her ear, though William might not be able to see it.
He frowned. "Depends. These ones are…" He made a face, then winced as the scab on his lip started bleeding again. He dabbed at the scab, scowling. He was sitting with his legs in front of him. His black hair stuck up in messy tufts all over his head.
"Ahh! So not good." She said, nodding. She started bobbing her head and singing the song again. "Way hay and up she rises. Way hay and up she rises. Way hay and up she rises. Early in the morn!" Her voice haunted the bottom deck of the ship.
William glanced over at her. "Do you have a name, miss?" He asked, remembering his manners. "I'm William." He said, looking at her.
"Brooks" She replied, sliding her hat onto her head once she finished the verse. "Captian Kayla Brooks." She said with a smile and a glance, seeing if he had heard of her, though he might not him was from England.
He nodded. "Nice to meet you, miss-er, Captain Brooks." He said. "Duke William Picard." He gave a small smile. He looked down at rhe floor, smile slipping slightly. Not a Duke if Uncle has his way. Not… He sighed softly.
"Ooh! Duke! How fancy!" She joked. "And you can call me Captain or Kayla. No need for firmilarlarities." She said. Kayla stood up and looked out a small port hole. "Almost." She muttered.
William nodded. "You can call me William. Or Will. I don't care." He glanced over at her for a moment, then down at his hands.
"Alright then," Kayla sat back down. She seemed to be waiting for something.
William was quiet, thinking. If they ransom me…can I escape before Uncle gets there? He bit his lip slightly.
There seemed to be a slight commotion above deck. Kayla smiled. "We're docking." She said. She jumped up and looked out the window. "Looks like we had to make a pit stop at Tortuga."
William nodded, then raised an eyebrow. "Tortuga?" He echoed questioningly.
"It's basically a safe haven for pirates." She said with a smile. She whistled a tune and a blue and yellow parrot swooped below deck, perching on her shoulder. "Hey, Sky!" She said petting the bird. It chirped and pushed its head into her hand. "Would you do me a favor and go get that key?" She said pointing to the key hanging on the far wall.
He nodded. "Ah. I see." He replied, looking at the parrot curiously for a moment, then back at his hands. Tortuga. Interesting. He sighed softly, stretching.
Sky squawked and flew over to get the key. It took a few times to get it off the hook but she got it eventually a flew back to Kayla. "Good birdy!" She said as she unlocked her door and walked over to grab her stuff.
William raised his eyebrows, but said nothing. Good luck, Kayla. He thought, closing his eyes for a moment. He wasn't going to ask a pirate to help him.
(Ahh! So he did figure out she was a pirate.)
Once she gathered her things, which consisted of a scabbard, a gun, and a compass she walked back over to Williams cell and opened it. "Are ya coming?" She asked.
(yup. Hes not quite that stupid not to XD)
William raised his eyebrows, standing. "I…guess so." He gathered his things, frowning at the fact that most of his money was missing. He sighed softly, examining the hidden pocket of his coat. Good. The money there was still intact.
