"I'm guessing this is enough?"
"I'm guessing this is enough?"
Cas nodded and followed Sorin to the register, clinging tightly to the angel when a dog was brought in.
Sorin hugged him closer. "Don't worry, I won't let them hurt you."
Cas hissed quietly at the dog, still holding tight to Sorin's hand. He breathed a sigh of relief when they left the store. "Are we heading back now?"
"Yes…unless…"
"Unless what?" Cas looked up at Sorin.
"You want to make a quick stop at the ice cream parlor?"
"…Ice cream?" Cas asked curiously, clearly a bit confused.
"It's a human treat…well not just a human treat, more like a frozen treat for anyone really," he looked at Cas's confused expression. "It's frozen milk that comes in many flavors."
"Huh… sounds good to me! Let's go!" Cas grinned, letting Sorin lead the way.
Sorin gripped Cas's hand a bit tighter before running to the ice cream parlor. "What flavor do you want? There's strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, cookies and creme, mint chocolate chip, butter pecan…"
Cas shrugged. "Whichever is your favorite?"
"Oh um, I don't really eat ice cream that much…Angels are a bit sensitive to cold things. But when I do, I choose vanilla."
"Alright, I'll get vanilla then." Cas ordered vanilla ice cream with a bit of guidance from Sorin and sat down with him.
"Oh and don't bite into it…"
"Er… okay?" Cas licked the ice cream, figuring that was the right thing to do, and shivered. "It's really cold… tastes good, though."
His heart was beating hard enough to escape his chest. Sorin didn't know why, though the feeling wasn't foreign to him. It was the same when he first took out Veronica for ice cream, when he took her out for the very first time despite her father's wishes to remain at the house at all time. He pushed backed that memory and gave Cas a small smile.
"You good? You looked a bit lost for a sec." Cas licked the ice cream again, swinging his legs a bit under the chair.
"I'm alright," Sorin nodded as if he were convincing himself he were.
Cas seemed skeptical, but he didn't push it. "Ow… the iced cream is hurting me…" He winced a bit, holding the ice cream away from his body.
"How so?" Sorin gently pulled out the ice cream from his hands.
"My head… there's a sharp stabbing pain." Cas eyed the ice cream, confused. "Oh, it seems to be going away."
Sorin chuckled. "That's called a brain freeze. You were eating the ice cream too fast." He handed back the ice cream to Cas.
"Oh… okay." Cas soon finished his ice cream and left the store with Sorin. He held all their bags since Sorin was going to have to carry him while he flew.
"Are you sure you don't need any help?" Sorin asked flapping and stretching his wings a little before they took flight.
"I can manage until we get back." Cas adjusted his grip on the bags.
"If you say so…" Sorin carried him and flew straight home, though careful of the boy in his arms and the bags he was carrying. He set him down gently and grabbed the keys from the back of his pocket to open the door.
Cas set the bags on the counter and stretched. "What now?"
"I'm going to work out. Your welcome to do whatever you want."
"Alrighty. Have fun!" Cas started unpacking things and got out the cat toys.He took off his hat and freed his tail, taking his armload of toys to the living room.
