Lucas blushed more and looked at the floor. "I-I don't like my drawings, so I don't usually show anyone…"
Lucas blushed more and looked at the floor. "I-I don't like my drawings, so I don't usually show anyone…"
"You should like your drawings. Just promise you won't throw away anymore alright?" Nick smiled, handing the paper back to Lucas.
"Okay…" Lucas gave the drawing back to Nick. "Y-You can keep it, if you want. I really don't need it… or want it… I mean, I was going to throw it away, so…"
Nick shrugged and put it in his back pocket, folded. "Thanks!" Nick smiled and started walking to the next class. "You coming?"
Lucas nodded and trotted after Nick silently, staying close to him in case Kaden tried to come back. The next few classes were uneventful. "So… should we head to my house to wait for CPS?"
"Yup," Nick switched put stuff in his locker than closed it, "Ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." Lucas directed Nick to his house as they drive there, and they arrived at a dreary looking one story house with cracked windows. Lucas sighed softly. "Hell sweet hell."
(XD Ready as I'll ever be is a song like that is the first thing I thought of XD)
"Is your dad home during the day?" Nick asked getting out the car.
(Yeah I know it got stuck in my head as soon as I wrote it XD)
"He's unemployed, so he's always here." Lucas stayed in the car for now, not planning on going in until CPS arrived.
(XD)
Nick opened the car door, bent down, and held out his hand. "Hey, babe, I won't let anything happen to you. I promise he won't hurt you as long as you stick with me okay? So, Can you come with me?"
"…Okay.." Lucas hesitantly took Nick's hand and got out of the car. "Are we… are we going in now?"
He nodded, "They said they would be here around this time to look at the house and ask you questions and I just wanted to be here while they did it. In case you felt uncomfortable."
"Alright…" Lucas said quietly. Once the CPS showed up a minute or two later, he went inside, wanting them to see how interactions went between he and his father. "Dad?" He called out into the house. "Who is it?" A gruff, slurred voice replied. Lucas seemed nervous, knowing his father was drunk. "Claus? Is that you?" "N-No dad, it's still Lucas. Claus… Claus has been dead for years." "Who the hell is Lucas?! Get out of my house!" Dad! I-I'm your other son! Please!" There were pictures of the family on the walls, so it was clear that Lucas wasn't lying. He signaled for the others to watch from the hall while he entered the room his father was in. "Dad…?" His father stood up and gripped Lucas's wrists tightly, forcing him against the wall. "I told you to leave!"
"Hey! Let go of him!" Nick yelled, pushing the dad of Lucas. He looked at his wrist. "Good there is nothing there." the CPS had stepped in and handcuffed Lucas's Dad.
Lucas trembled violently, staying close to Nick. There were bloodstains on the carpet, which could only be assumed to have come from Lucas. There were empty bottles all over the floor, some broken, and a couple of the broken ones even stained with Lucas's blood like the floor. His father seemed furious at being handcuffed, and he kept trying to get at Lucas, but he stayed restrained.
"Are you going to be okay?" Nick saw that he was trembling and he hugged him.
"Y-Yeah… it's usually worse than this, but since you stepped in…" He said shakily, leaning against Nick. Lucas's father seemed even more angry at this and kept calling Lucas a fag, bastard, and numerous other awful things. Lucas blinked away tears and stared at the ground, feeling almost guilty.
"Don't listen, babe. Don't listen. Only listen to my voice okay? You are beautiful and anyone would be lucky to have you and because I have you I am the luckiest guy on Earth and I could not ask for more than the love you give me." He rocked Lucas back and forth.
Lucas cried softly as he clung to Nick. He hid his face in Nick's shoulder as he could still hear his father screaming insults from outside.
He covered Lucas's ears. "Shhhh I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."
"Umm Lucas, do you have a close friend that you could-Never mind I file him under where you're going to live unless you up to clean up this place, make look brand new so you can sleep in it again?" one of the people said.
"I-I dunno if I could ever sleep in this place…" Lucas said softly. "It's been like this since I was nine… since Claus and mom died…" He wrapped his arms around Nick's neck, his heart pounding out of his chest. "I want to stay with Nick…"
"Okay then. We will end cleaning up the place and making some renovations so it's ready for sale. Is there anything you want from here besides clothes and things you need?" The lady asked.
Lucas shook his head. "We hardly have food in here. I doubt there's too much… I might take the pictures, though." He glanced over to a picture of him and Claus when they were younger. As they were twins, they looked remarkably similar other than Claus having ginger hair and green eyes and Lucas being blonde with blue. Claus's hair was really more of a strawberry blonde, but it was still a noticeable difference.
"Alright. I'll leave you two alone," the lady walked out the door.
"So," Nick wrapped his arm around Lucas. "You wanna live with me?"
Lucas nodded a bit. "If you're okay with it, of course… either way, I need to get my stuff." He picked up the picture of him and Claus and seemed to go into a sort of daze as he looked at it, a couple tears eventually falling onto the glass.
"I'll help you pack. You'll have to move into my apartment because it's my mom's house and I don't think she wants more people staying there. I only go there for visits. Lucas, look at me," he said softly.
Lucas hesitated before glancing over at Nick, his eyes shining with tears. He gripped the picture frame tightly.
"it's going to be okay. You're going to be okay. Even though Claus is gone just remember that he will always be with you in your heart. No matter what happens he's still here watching over you. I promise you all he wants is for you to fulfill your life to the fullest, so listen to me when I say this. He did not leave you. That's just a lie you told yourself. He will always be in your heart and in your memories because that is the one place that will never leave until you do."
Lucas drew in a wavering breath and sat on the floor, drawing his knees up to his chest. He sobbed quietly, the picture hanging loosely from one hand as he cried. He always tried to not look at these pictures while he was here because it pretty much just upset him every time. Claus and his mother had been killed before his eyes when he was nine, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. That moment replayed in his mind whenever he saw a picture of Claus and or his mother.
Nick crouched down, "Come here." He held Lucas close comforting him.
