@ElderGod-Icefire
Reaper shrugged. "Because people are. They turn to their religions to find meaning, and when they die they look at me and ask "are you blank?" You know, insert God in the blank. Jesus, Allah, whatever."
Reaper shrugged. "Because people are. They turn to their religions to find meaning, and when they die they look at me and ask "are you blank?" You know, insert God in the blank. Jesus, Allah, whatever."
"what do you say? The reaper? Scare the crap out of em? Or do you lie?"
She says, sitting on a branch, her chin resting on her hand. Her feet swaying back and forth.
He gave a half smile. "I don't say anything unless I have to. Most of the time I just smile and pass them on to where they need to be."
"oh? is your smile pretty?"
She says facing him, intrigued now.
He sighed, rolling his eyes in irritation. "I don't know."
"Oh? Show me"
She said smiling at him. She seemed to be having a good time.
He groaned, and gave her a wide, obviously fake grin, eyes completely dead and emotionless.
Bummed out, she grinned widely, putting her index fingers on both sides of her cheeks, ride beside her dimples.
"Like this!"
She says, surprisingly cute, given the circumstances.
He raised an eyebrow, but a more real smile slowly crept over his face. He had a very slight dimple on his left cheek, but none in his right. His teeth were straight and white, and he actually had a beautiful smile.
Gawking silently at his gorgeous smile, she almost fell out of the tree.
"oh….. thats…. a nice…. smile."
She stuttered,
"Do you smile like that to the people you take…. wherever you take them?"
She asked him, tilting her head to the side like a little puppy.
He raised an eyebrow, watching her in almost amused confusion. "Uhm…no?" He replied slowly. "I don't actually smile all that often. Except at kids, who need a friendly face."
"oh…. heh, well I feel special then!"
She smiled at him. She wanted to see that smile more and more.
The more she looked at it, the more she loved it.
A soft laugh came from him. "Hmm." Was his only response. He turned to look out at the scenery nearby, raking a hand through his black hair.
The more she looked at him, the prettier he got. She started to examine him a little closer, but then pushing a thought, that she never knew she even had, out of her mind. She stood up jumping back into another tree farther into the forest.
"so what did you do before you-um became a reaper?"
She asked him sitting on a tree branch, her knee propped up with her elbow resting on it.
He jumped slightly, having got lost in his own thoughts. Thoughts which, until now, he hadn't even known he could still think and feel. "Oh. I… nothing, really. I became the apprentice Reaper at 14, so…" He shrugged slightly.
"Do You like it? Being the reaper?"
She said, with for some reason, a worried expression on her face.
He shrugged slightly. "It's a life. It's…my life, now, so…" He shrugged again. "I hold no opinions on it."
"Wow… That's kind of depressing."
She says lowering her tone to be softer. Her blue-green eyes gleaming at him, she couldn't quite make out the color of his eyes right now, she was tired and she was still adjusting, but something told her they were absolutely gorgeous. And she was determined to get a good look.
"Hey…."
she says in a soft, swinging her feet, swaying back and forth, side, to side.
"Are you…. Are you okay?"
She says suddenly. With a worried look on her face, she tries to look at his without falling out of the tree.
He stared at her. His eyes were a strange grey tone, with flecks and lines like on an old photograph. "Is something wrong?" He asked her slowly. "I'm fine." He said, in answer to her question. "But are you alright? You're acting a bit strange."
"oh yeah I'm fine! I was just asking because you seem…. sad. No emotion…. even I have emotions sometimes!"
She said forcing a smile. She didn't want him to be sad. If he was going to hang with her…. she didn't want a sad reaper.
He raised an eyebrow slightly. "No emotion doesn't equate directly to sadness, you know." He said.
"well, it's not just that you weren't showing emotion, but you seemed sad. But as long as you're not sad it's fine."
She said as she kept on swaying back and forth.
He nodded, and gave a small shrug. "Alright then." He looked at her carefully. "You sure you're okay?"
"what?! Yes?"
She says standing up, climbing on a higher branch.
"i just…. didnt want you to act all rude and moody like some teenage girl if your gonna be staying with me"
She said crossing her arms. Acting tough, but in a way it was cute.
He laughed softly. "Alright. If you say so." Then he made a face. "I don't act moody!" He protested, rolling his eyes.
"oh, I'm so sure!"
She uncrossed her arms, putting her hands on her hips.
He made a face. "is that sarcasm, or not?" He asked.
"no its a cow…"
She said straight-faced,
"guess its sarcasm!"
She threw her hands up in the air then laughing a little. It was a true, pure laugh.
He chuckled softly, a small smile creeping over his face. "Ah."
"anyway…. lets do something… are you fast?"
She asked him, feeling mischevious.
