"That's not important," he spoke quietly in response
"That's not important," he spoke quietly in response
lachlan narrowed his eyes in response. "then i'll be forced to believe that's some weeb ass nickname you got your friends to call you because it's what you named your elf in d&d. what brings you here, mate?"
Sangrar sighed. "It means 'bleed' in Portuguese…" he looked over at Lachlan and said, "I'm just here to look at some plants. Maybe plant some flowers."
"you know, you have to get permission from the science teacher to plant any new stuff." he turned around on the stool, grinning lazily at sangrar.
"but she hasn't visited here in forever, and i'm the one who takes care of all this. the seeds are in the cabinet and i have the pots labeled for which goes with which size of plant. i'm lachlan, how are ya?"
Sangrar was startled by Lachlan's abrupt change in behavior. "Um-"
"what are you looking to plant?" he slid jerkily off the stool, popping his knuckles and kneeling next to a drawer in the cabinet.
"flowers are in here. i'd probably say to let me take care of any fruits or veggies, since i don't have a guide for season planting on me. succulents… are hard to grow from seeds, so i'd suggest to let me get you a cutting. the leafier plants are up here, and i've got saplings… somewhere in the greenhouse."
"Hm, do you have any Marigold seeds?"
"aye. what variety? i've only got french and triploid, come look at the packages and make your decision." he pulled out two packets and held them out.
Sangrar walked over to Lachlan and looked at both of the packets, eventually taking the triploid. "I'll take this one" he grinned
"alright!" he stood up, dusting himself off. "marigolds are temperamental to grow from seeds, so here." he pulled out a pot and handed it off to sangrar.
"i'll be back, i'm getting the potting mix." and with that, he disappeared into another room of the greenhouse.
Sangrar set the pot and the seed packet on a nearby table and started to look around
after about 10 minutes, he emerged from a flap holding a bag of potting mix.
"here we are. soil-less potting mix is what they need to start growing. go ahead and pour it in, cover about three of the seeds with a thin layer of it and i'll take care of the rest."
he offered sangrar a crooked smile, rolling up his sleeves (to reveal all kinds of bruises.) and pulling off his gloves (to let those blistered and bleeding knuckles air out)
Sangrar stared at his bruises for a moment. After a few seconds, he realized what he was doing and he followed Lachlan's instructions. "So, uh. You spend a lot of time in here?"
"all the time. unless my only friend wants me in class, then im tailing him around the school." he propped himself up on his elbows on the table.
"So, you're skipping class right now? Aren't you going to get in trouble?"
lachlan snorted. "no. they stopped caring after the three week mark."
Sangrar gave him a half-smile and finished planting the Marigolds
lachlan stood up straight again and leaned over the other's shoulder. after a moment of studying the planted seed, he shrugged.
"good enough. and hey, aren'y you skipping class as well?"
"No. I'm on my lunch period."
"fair. mine is the next one, but i don't think i'll eat." he slid the pot out from under sangrar, studying it for a moment more before disappearing again into the back.
Sangrar quietly followed him into the back. "Why aren't you going to eat?"
he shrugged, turning around slowly until he found what he was looking for. he got a small tin labeled vermiculite, and turned fully back to sangrar.
"i'll eat when i get home. it's what i usually do."
"Oh." he turned and walked back out, and started to wander about the greenhouse again
