"Oh, right," Beatriz says slowly. Then she pauses. "D'you want to hang out with me for a bit in my house? Are we allowed to do that? You don't have to, I just meant - " she shakes her head quickly, letting go of Ryuu's hand.

"uh I don't think we're allowed to do that, but tomorrow morning we can wake up earlier and hang out!"
He says cheerfully to the girl, then looking to see everyone walking to their houses, less and less people were on the sand. Maverick and CC were still in the water, n9t to his surprise.
Standing up, he held a hand out to Beatriz, smiling and his golden hair covering his freckly forehead.

Beatriz nods, taking his hand to stand up. Then she heads off toward her house. "Goodnight," she tells him, placing an arm around herself anxiously.

"night!"
He says with a smile, his hand slipping away from hers. Watching her walk into the house, smiling to himself wlthen walking into his house, gelrabbing a towel the. Going to take a shower. That ocean water felt good along with the breeze l, but the sand made him feel a little gross.

“It is a bit late… but…” Maverick stares at the water, embarrassed. “I thought you were going to teach me?” The innocence in his voice is naive and hopeful, letting his guard down only for CC.

A smile crosses her face as she looks at him. Nobody was around, it was getting darker by the second.
"I was hoping you'd say that!"
She says with that cheeky little smile

He rolls his eyes, playfully splashing her with water. Maverick gestures to himself. “So… where to I start?”

"Hmm, I have no idea actually"
She said looking at the sky.
"Okay first, try to your breath underwater?"
She said looking back at him. How in the world do you teach someone how to swim?

“I don’t know if I can even go underwater,” Maverick wryly admits.

"Oh?"
She says tilting her head like a puppy.
"Okay, let's do it then! For starters you could plug your nose, but i normally just blow out when I'm going under. So just plug your nose, and just put your face in the water, only your face and lets see how that works"
She says following by a kind expression. Holding his hand, knowing this will probably go very slow, but it'll be totally worth it. If she was helping Maverick she didn't really care what she was doing, or how long it would take.

"Okay." His fingers tighten over hers, using his right hand to plug his nose. "Like this?" The voice comes nasally, and he flinches. Laughing, Maverick tries again, this time dipping his chin in the water. With a breath, his face plunges under. It pops right back up, revealing a gasping Maverick.

Laughing and smiling, CC gives a reassuring nod.
"Yeah! Now let's see how long you can do that. I can don't with you if you want?"
She says, her kind voice melting into the air, their fingers entangled with each other. Her voice was very soothing, which she meant for it to be. The last she wanted was for him not be to calm.

A wrenched, "Please," finds it's way out of Maverick. "You count to three, and we will both go under?" He plugs his nose, again, ever prepared.

"Okay!"
She says trying to be a little quieter than she usually is. They weren't supposed to be out here in the first place.
"Okay one….two…three!"
CC says taking a breathe then putting her face in the water. She would be gone completely under but she wanted to take slow steps for Maverick.

The water envelopes Maverick's face, and the mere sensation is enough to send shivers crawling up his spine. But his feet are grounded, rooted safely in the sand. His palm is gripping warmth. Focusing on these small senses, he steadily remains in the rippling water.

CC gains a worried look in her expression when she notices Maverick stays underwater longer than he usually was. Hopefully, he was just getting braver, he was only going under for a few seconds. 30 seconds went by,
"Mave? You doing all right?"
She says in a soft voice.

Maverick didn’t hear her, but resurfaces gasping. He showers her with a splatter of water, flinging his hair like a dog. With a tentative smile, he seeks, “How’d I do?”

Laughing at the water splashing on her, watching him shaking his hair like a dog. He was adorable with wet hair in his face, dripping water, splashing it on her face.
"you did good!"
She says through a laugh. The process was going a little slow but as long as she was with Maverick she was fine.
Although she did want to just go underwater, swimming with him. She felt like a mermaid, swimming underwater.
She forgot how much she loved the water until she was around it. She never got to swim back home.
i wish he could swim…. but this is worth it if he eventually can
She thought to herself as she gripped his hand.

Green eyes glitter with pride, a hint of complacency in his tone as he asks, "Can you say that again?"

"You did good?"
She says to him a little confused but then understanding what he meant right after she said something.
"Oh! Well yeah, you did a good job!"
She says brightly after her little realization moment. She wondered how long it was going to take. She wasn't tired at all. Looking into his gleemy eyes, her heart started to race. She wanted to say something but… Nothing would come out. She couldn't find the right words to say. It was a little frustrating. She wanted to say something so badly. But what was it? This never happens to her… So why now? What's happening to her, making her heart race so heart and a few words slipping slowly down Her throat. She opened her mouth to talk. But nothing came out. So she didn't try any longer. This sense of heaviness on her chest, her heart throbbing. She just didn't know how to handle it right now.

Beaming, Maverick oozes with satisfaction. He watches as CC struggles with something out of his control. “Is something wrong? Or is the progress too slow? I’ll try harder,” the boy vows, trying to pry past CC’s layers.

"wh-what no! I just… I was going to say…"
Could she say it? The words wouldn't come out…
"You're doing alot better than I did when I was learning how to swim!"
She decided to say, instead of- well what she was trying to say.
She decided she could wait and save it for another time. The perfect moment.
And when he could swim.

An eyebrow quirks upward, Maverick’s lips twitching. “It’s cute when you stutter,” he murmurs, “But I would rather you tell the truth. I won’t push.” He pauses, lecturing himself. He had no right to demand that of her.

"Wha-wait no! I mean… IM NOT…cute."
She says as she crosses her arms. She was so short, the water reached her shoulders as she looked away puffing out her cheek.
Her big white eyes looked at the water's surface, then at him.
"and….. i will"
She says in a stubborn yet cute voice.

“See? Cute.” Adoration lines Maverick’s features as he looks down - a very steep angle - at the girl. His hand ripples over the sea, once more. “What next?”

"oh um… let's try to actually swim since you have the holding your breath part down."
She said acting like he didn't just call her cute again. Although her red face said otherwise.

"We're jumping straight to swimming? I can hold my breath underwater- but-" He's trembling, like a coward. Like someone incapable of meeting CC's expectations. Like a person his dad- no. Maverick's voice wavers, "I don't think I'm ready…"

"oh, I was meaning like…. the motions."
She says softly,
"calm down you're okay"
She stood straight up now, which wasnt much taller, but it was something. Placing her hand on his cheek, she smiled.
"as I said, we're gonna take this slowly."

It's his turn to blush. "Slowly, okay." Butterflies still flutter in his stomach at her full blown smile. Maverick watches her with awe, present to the world as the shivers subside. "Thank you," he whispers. "Now. The motions?"
