Shes never actually taught anyone how to swim…
how in the world do I do this?
She thinks to herself as she messes with the water. Her hands lightly splashing in the water.
"lemme think for a second"
She says to Mave, and eventually, she figures it out, teaching him for the next hour, just the motions.
(sorry i had no idea how to actually do that)
(neither do I, it’s fine)
After what felt like days, Maverick finally became accustomed to the motions. The moon now glows over the crashing waves, still spewing sprays of water onto the pair. Despite understanding the concept, when asked to be completely submerged, Maverick and his body resisted. “Maybe we should try again tomorrow?”
"oh, okay, um, do you wanna go to your house or stay out here for a little bit and just not swim or anything?"
She was fine with either one. Either way, she was getting a little tired of being in the water.
She was kind of glad that he said something. She would've died if they spent any more time doing active things.
“Sleep would be nice,” he admits. Absently, he says, “But I just want to do something with you. Not in the water, though.”
Quickly grabbing his hand, pulling him out of the water as they walk up to the sand.
"okay! What do you wanna do?"
She asks actually curious
“Anything you want, I want to be with you…” Sleepy Maverick was being exposed, delirious but wondrously unrestricted. He stumbled over sand, latching onto CC’s hand for support.
"um, are you sure? you seem awfully tired?"
She says sitting down in the sand, then laying back. The sand was getting in her hair, but she didn't care.
It was too relaxing. And it was really cute to see Maverick tired.
“I’m not tired.” He lays beside her, cuddling her arm. Maverick’s eyes flutter shut, and he quickly falls into a deep sleep on the beach.
"oh okay…."
She says sarcasticy, not realizing hes asleep.
"hey i wanted to tell you something….. and i was waiting for the right… perfect moment. And this might not be it-"
She says trying to spit out the words. Was she brave enough? She didnt beleive so…
"this might not be the perfect moment to say this, but i honestly just couldnt hold it in any longer…"
She says, her face red. She didnt dare look at him.
She was afraid he would make fun of her for being so awkward…. or worse…. call her cute.
"Nevermind…. um, just forget it"
She looked at him. She wasnt brave enough to do this. Looking at him…. her face got even more red.
HE WAS ASLEEP? THANK GOD I DIDNT SAY ANYTHING….
She thought to herself, sighing. Shaking him awake. Trying to anyway.
"Mave, wake up, you should go to bed"
She said as she ran her fingers through his wet hair.
"Youre so beautiful…"
She mumbles to herself, laying back down giving up on waking him up.
Lo and behold, Maverick began sleep-talking. He murmurs softly, lost in a dream. A dream where he was with CC, swimming, but really with her. “I might love you,” he mumbles to the sand. “Despite that I’ve not showed that very well.” Beatriz pops into his fake reality, and he recalls how CC had been jealous. “I know that I tease her a lot, but she’s not the one I want- I want you.”
FLustered a bit, she sits up and laughs a little. Shaking him even more, trying to ignore what he just said,
"come on, please wake up"
she was a little desperate to get him awake and to bed.
"Maverick….. i love you to…."
She finally said, although he was asleep, she said it. She had finally said it!
"now get up please?"
She said, her sweet voice like honey milk (if you havent tried it…. its super good and sweet.)
(Lactose-intolerant :( Also I was kinda hoping CC would misinterpret his words and add some drama…)
Maverick lolls over, successfully face-planting in the sand. His body lies limp, thoroughly exhausted from the string of emotions in the water. Along with the physical excursion.

(she will think about it later dont worry XD shes just to busy being flustered)
CC sighs, trying to be patient. A few minutes later:
And here you can see a weak-looking little girl trying to pick up a dead body
trying to make him sit up and actually wake up.
"how much of a heavy sleeper are you?"
The groan that leaves his still dormant body would be considered his answer. As soon as her hands leave his form, Maverick flops onto the sand once more.
"okay Maverick….. guess ill just go to swimming…. in the dark…"
She stands up and starts walking towards the water…. her feet splash the water as she dives in.
She looks back, hoping Maverick would notice.
"IM IN THE WATER MAVE!"
She shouts to him.
“Who’s shouting?” Maverick shouts back, eyes snapping awake. He scans blindly in the dark, before seeing moving water and making out CC. “I thought you wanted to get out of the water,” he wryly remarks.
"oh thank goodness!!! I was trying to get you awa-"
She says, yet interrupted by losing her balance. It was never actually safe to go in the ocean in the dark. Falling down, down was only knee-deep, so it wasn't bad, but it probably did from Maverick's point of view.
“CC?” He yells, eyes still dropping and adjusting to the darkness. Blindly he stumbles forward, following the sound of splashing water as the commotion ensues. “Where are you?” Maverick pants. His hand slaps against the gentle rolling waves, sinking ever so slowly into the water.
Popping her head out of the water, she starts laughing, wading up to him,
"hey! I'm right here! Dont come in the water silly! I'm fine!"
She smiles and grabs his hands pulling her out of the water a little. She was short, so much shorter than him. She still was completely dumbfounded about how she told him, but he was asleep.
"Are you okay?"
She says smiling at him, although it was way too dark to see her. Just a big white blur.
“I’m alright. You, on the other hand,” he fusses over her, patting her head gently. His head is still reeling from its daze, tugged so harshly out of sleep. Laughing, he comments, “You’re so short.”
"what!"
She was expecting him to say something cheesy and romantic like he usually did, but she laughed at his comment.
Her feet were being buried in the sand. They were a little deeper in the water, it was up to her waist, the cold water splashing against her stomach. She forgot what she was wearing until she looked down. It was cute, but she felt weird. Reaching up on her tippy toes, she got only a tiny bit taller, not alot in the slightest.
"I….. i thought were afraid of water? Why are you in it then?"
She said trying to look at his beautiful face. Which saddened her, it was far to dark to see.
Ego inflating, Maverick arrogantly preens, "I had to save you, princess. And your height? It's okay." Although CC couldn't see him, she would be able to hear the smirk infused into his voice. "I like girls who stand at 5'6''."
"good!"
She says crossing her arms, looking away from him.
Looking back at him, she quickly splashed some water at him and giggles.
"You should probably go to bed, you did fall asleep on the sand"
She says through laughing. Her face was a little red from him calling her princess.
A hand weaves through his soaked hair. "I- oh gods, that's embarrassing." The moon is now dangling from the sky, creating a picturesque aesthetic of the pair's silhouettes in the water. "What about you? Don't you need sleep, too?"
"Ha! I can go years without sleep!"
She said confidently puffing her chest putting her arms on her hips.
"You myst not even know me!"
Maverick's mouth scrunches. "Years, huh?" He waggles his eyebrows, murmuring in her ear, "So I assume you can stay up all night, too? But then again, I don't know anything about you…" The innuendo lingers, dancing happily like a flame in the air.
"Well, now you do… Now that I told you!"
She says quieter, backing away a little bit. If he got any closer- well she doesn't know what she'd do. Her face was as red as a beat, and boy she was glad it was dark.
"now you know one thing!"
She says to him playfully
"One thing- I want to know so many more," he says, coaxing his voice to sound calm, testing the waters. His gaze trails to the moon, soothing his rushing heart.
