Thank god someone got it… I thought I was being left in the dust of my own immature thoughts but was specifically talked about by Stoker so it's not really my fault.

Out of curiosity how many romances have you personally stopped writing?

I can add more to this now
Evil laughter

  • Joan and Samuel were originally going to end up together, but now their ending is more open-ended. Like, they could get together and they could not, but they're good friends.
  • Lucas and Ophelia are together at the start of the story, but end up being seperated and officially break up because she has trauma/issues to work through and he's busy learning how to be the prince and has baggage to work through as well.

@Katastrophic group

I'm actually planning a "awkward date" arc where the characters mutually decide to stay friends, though I do have another pair i have my heart set on and a character that would flirt with a paper bag so idk. I just dont want to write anything forced just to have a romance tag or dumb relationship angst (aka every YA novel…)

We talked about healthy relationships in Health today and it made me kinda realize how there's, like, not a ton in books?? Lookin' at you, Bella/Edward and Anna/Christian.

And not just healthy, but well-developed. I actually saw something on Tumblr (along with a video on YouTube: Gay Fanfiction on the channel Sarah Z) that was talking about how so often there'll be an almost fully male cast where the guys all have close bonds that could easily be read as romantic, but instead of either running with that or introducing an important and well-developed female lead, they just no homo it by giving the leading man a 2D love interest who's there for him to kiss and to be the damsel in distress, and then get annoyed when fans ship the guys, whose bonds have actual depth beyond "we're a guy and a girl who've talked for 5 minutes and are conventionally attractive".

I always have a bromance or two in my stories. Sometimes its not even between guys. Like I have this one that is between a guy and a girl and they are the ultimate bro pair.

Friendship is just as important as romance.

Yeah same.

@Kinarymo

Well, not all long chapters are bad
Like, if its one of those where the action focuses on a character ur not interested in, those kind of chapters suck, like, c'mon man, when is this gonna end??

But if its focusing on the one peep u like, then to me its kinda heavenly

@galaxyunicorn-is-in-love-with-starry

Well, I have trouble focusing on books as it is, and long chapters (+ small print) makes it a lot harder

THE CHAPTER I HAVE TO READ TONIGHT FOR HOMEWORK
IS 18 PAGES
18
PAGES
TOO MUCH

Most people finished it in class! I only read like 4 pages because I couldn’t focus!
