Infinitus awoke to a warmth on his face, and slowly blinked his eyes open, adjusting them to the light. Where am I? The strange thing was that he couldn’t remember anything except his name and who these people were beside him.
She opened her eyes, only her name in her mind. Vanitate. But… she was somewhere she didn’t recognize. V didn’t move at all for a moment, before relaxing and turning her head slightly. “Hello?” She asked, not noticing the others for a moment.
Mortem opened her eyes and stared at the sky. "Huh. It's pretty blue right here." She was aware of other presences, but wasn't really concerned about them.
Vita didn’t say anything. He just sat Ip and looked around. He could feel the tingle of the earth beaneath him, and the breeze. And he had no idea what had happened, where he was, or really anything.
Imperium sat up. They were sure who they were, but what were they doing? "Hello, you're cute." they said to a nearby squirrel.
"Thank you, but I prefer the term - oh," Mortem said, turning her head slightly. She almost laughed at herself, but the sky was mesmerizing. The fact that she had no idea why she was there seemed unimportant at the moment. As did… well, nearly everything.
"Hi, Mortem! I don't know how I know that. Well, it doesn't matter." they sat up, and immediately their back kinked out. "Owww! Dang, I was sleeping on this for a while!" they said, picking up their chain flail.
Infinitus spared a glance or two towards the others, but decided to try to stand up instead of talking. Bracing a hand against the still standing pieces of a fallen wall, he stood, grimacing as his bones cracked. It feels like I’ve been asleep for a hundred years.
(By the way, where they woke up is basically where the old gods died, so that’s why the city is in ruins)
"Where are we?" Imperium asked. "Look, let's all get calmed down, and we can figure this out. I want someone to scope out the area, see what they can find out about the place. Let's make a camp, and work out what to do next." they commanded, and stopped. They were acting wayyyy too much like a leader for comfort.
"Mortem, huh? That's a nice name. Mort-tem. Tem. Hm. Call me Temi. I like that better. I'd ask for your name, seeing as I should probably know it, anyway, but if I'm being honest, I'm too… what's the word? Tired? To care," Mortem said, not bothering to move a muscle.
Vita glared at Imperium. “Who made you the leader?” He asked, standing. His eyes were a deep blue and his hair was brown, the color of the ruins next to them.
Infinitus held up is hands. “Woah, let’s calm down there. We should probably figure out who we even are first,” he straightened up, brushing off his clothes. “I’m Infinitus, I think.”
“You think? Well, make up your mind.” Vita brushed himself off, his hair fading to black.
Infinitus shot a glare at the other male. “For just meeting, I can already tell we’re going to be great friends,” he said, sarcasm filling his voice. His eyes then shifted up to the sky, marveling on how blue it was. A soft woah left his lips, his eyes wide.
“You think?” Vita responded, in equal sarcasm. He looks around and sees almost everyone staring at the sky and rolls his eyes. “Great. I’m surrounded by a bunch of loons who like to stare at the sky. Fantastic.”
"Super blue, right?" Mortem said, seeing Infinitus looking at the sky and ignoring Vita. "I didn't even know that word until right now. But that giant expanse up there - " she gestured to the sky, " - is blue."
Vita glared at Imperium. “Who made you the leader?” He asked, standing. His eyes were a deep blue and his hair was brown, the color of the ruins next to them.
"I just feel like… I should be. Like, well, I just am." they stood up, groaning as the ache became instantly worse. "Uh, names, names, I know your names. You're Vita, meany mean face. And there's Mortem and Infinitus and Vanitate. And me, Imperius. And weird ruins." they said, bouncing up and down, fiddling with their hands. "These clothes are itchy, why did I put them on? Did I put them on?" Imperium asked.
Vita snorted at their stupidity. “No, it’s green. Honestly, it’s like you all were born today.”
"You know, I'm pretty sure I was born today. Happy birthday to me," she sang, voice becoming louder as she sat up. She looked around her and quickly laid back down. The sky was much prettier than these people.
“Oh dear.” Vita’s eyes flashed purple. “Great. And all idiots, too. Fun.”
"Don't say that! You are mean, very mean. I don't like that!" they said. You really shouldn't do that, I'm sure nobody wants a little… accident putting you out of the way. they thought, somehow knowing Vita would hear it.
Vita raised an eyebrow. He could sense people’s thoughts easily, and this one pissed him off. “Are you threatening me?”
Mortem stood up more quickly than she ever had (though it was the first time), walking over to Vita. "Vita, love, dear, darling, sweet, wonderful fluffball of a person. Would it trouble you terribly to just shut the everloving hell up?" She asked, smiling sweetly.
“Yes, it would trouble me,” Vita grumbled. “Hats why I don’t stop talking. Duh.”
"Alright, then," Mortem said, untroubled. "Well, I tried, at least. But you're a grumbly grandfather, so if you'll excuse me," she walked off to go do cartwheels.
Vita rolled his eyes. Why is everyone so happy? He wondered. He picked at a tree nearby.
Glancing down for a second, Infinitus spotted something that was neither rubble or a plant. Reaching down, he grabbed it and looked at it closely. It’s a map? Why would a map be here? His eyes traced an outlined path to the city of Arebol. “Hey guys? I think I found something.”
