Wolf let Bridge lean on him as they waited for the elevator to go up to the right floor. Maybe they could stay here for a while and not have to worry about most things for some time. Maybe. Depends on the quality of the beds.
Wolf let Bridge lean on him as they waited for the elevator to go up to the right floor. Maybe they could stay here for a while and not have to worry about most things for some time. Maybe. Depends on the quality of the beds.
The elevator dinged and the doors opened, leaving the two to step out, which they did. Bridge looked up at Wolf. "What's the room number?"
He looked down at the keys. "Uhhh, 122." He looked around the hall. "Well, it seems we're at least in the right hallway."
"Okay," Bridge responded, but not in a sheltered way like he had all the other times. This time, he actually seemed a bit happy! He ran ahead of Wolf, stopping for each door until he found the right one.
Wolf chuckled as he watched Bridge, just walking through the hall with his hands in his pockets. When Bridge seemed to pause in his door hopping, Wolf tilted his head. "Find it?"
"Mhm." Bridge hummed, nodding and looking back at him. "You have the key, right?"
He held it up for Bridge to see. "Yup, right here." He came up to the door and unlocked it, pushing it open and holding it for Bridge to head on through.
The motel room was just like any other: A bed with tons of blankets and pillows, a dresser, a desk with some paper and writing utensils, a nightstand, a lamp, and a telephone. But it was the bed - or rather, what was on it - that got Bridge.
His golden eyes widened and he ran towards it, crashing onto the thing and hurriedly collecting pillows and blankets around him. It had been a long time since he'd had this many.
Wolf actually laughed when Bridge laughed himself onto the bed. The boy's reaction to the pillows and blankets just absolutely adorable. Wolf closed the door and set the keys and his bag on the desk, tapping it lightly as he saw the paper and writing utensils. He could take notes on Ancient Rome and study the language in his free time.
"I like this place," Bridge muttered quietly against the pillows, only his eyes and hair peeking out from the mountain he'd made around him.
Wolf chuckled and sat on the other side of the bed, flopping back onto the edge of Bridge's mountain so that he wasn't disturbing the boy. "Well, I can say that this is probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever been on."
He only nodded, giggling a little and breaking down a part of the wall of blankets so that he could lie next to Wolf. "Thank you."
Wolf turned onto his stomach, resting his head on his arms as he looked over at Bridge. "What for?" he asked.
Bridge's own golden eyes widened in disbelief. "Everything. You're the only one who's ever wanted me with them for a really long time."
Wolf smiled kindly, multicolored eyes sparkling from beneath the tufts of fluffy hair that fell into them. He didn't know what to say to that. 'You're welcome,' didn't seem to fit, and all of his other responses didn't seem meaningful enough.
Bridge didn't say anything either, pressing his lips together in a small smile. He didn't look away, which was rare enough in itself, but he felt comfortable, too, which was very strange for him.
He finally opened his mouth to respond, looking away briefly as he spoke. "I'm glad I was able to be a one in a million for you," he said quietly.
He only nodded, blushing a little bit again. "You were."
"Your blush is cute," Wolf murmured, speaking his mind without actually thinking about it.
Bridge only blushed harder, glancing down before looking back up at Wolf. "You - you…you think?"
"Mmhmm," he hummed, a smile flickering at his lips as he continued to look at Bridge. He wasn't lying—his blush was just so cute.
"Okay," He responded quietly, throwing a blanket over himself to hide his blush, giggling in embarrassment.
Wolf chuckled and moved so his face would've been right by Bridge's had the blanket not been in the way. "You're too cute," he cooed.
"No - no I'm not…" He mumbled, smiling to himself under the blanket.
"Here's the thing, Bridge," Wolf said, smiling widely as his voice dropped slightly, "I never lie."
"Really?" Bridge asked softly, lifting his head from the blanket and blushing at how close they were.
Wolf grinned at the sight of Bridge's blush once again, his eyes sparkling yet soft and kind. "Really," he said with equal softness.
"Oh." He said softly, smiling a little. "So…okay."
"You say okay a lot," Wolf commented curiously, tilting his head to the side as he looked at Bridge.
Bridge blinked, giggling. "I…I didn't know that."
