"It is a pleasure to meet you, Ava. Though, under not quite ideal circumstance." She resumed playing with the knife, casting a glance to the mirror. "Then again, mine never are."
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Ava. Though, under not quite ideal circumstance." She resumed playing with the knife, casting a glance to the mirror. "Then again, mine never are."
Ava sniffed sharply. "Neither are mine. Maybe this was meant to be," she suggested with a laugh.
"Oh, no, don't tell me you believe in fate." Roxanne sighed, running the knife down the inside of her forearm and drawing a thin trail of blood.
"Eh. Not necessarily fate," Ava replied thoughtfully, glancing over.
"Good, good. Then this didn't end quicker than it started." Roxanne mused, smudging her blood with her thumb.
Ava pressed her lips together and looked over again. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh, who knows these days." Roxanne waved her knife dismissively, before it disappeared with a quick and efficient sleight of hand.
Ava quirked her lips into a steady smirk. "Alright. Why'd you jump in my ratty little car anyway?"
"To evade the cold confines of the law, of course." Roxanne answered easily, kicking her feet up on the dash.
"And why exactly was the cold confines of the law chasing you?"
"Would you like an alphabetized list, or a chronological list?"
Ava snorted. "So you're that kind of a person…"
"And what, pray tell, is that kind of person exactly?" Roxanne arched an eyebrow.
"The kind who looks for trouble just for the fun of it," Ava replied.
"Oh, we really are hitting the hammer on the head, or however you say that." Roxanne said, waving dismissively. "Not necessarily for the fun, but more because it's the only thing interesting any more."
Ava arched her perfect-looking eyebrows. "Really? There isn't anything better you could do with your time?"
"Not exactly. And not much brings about joy any more." Roxanne said casually, nodding her head back in forth like she was listening to music. "Oh, except for pain. That's always fun, makes you feel."
Ava pulled over to the side if the road. "I think we're far enough away now," she remarked, brushing her long hair behind her ear.
"Indeed we probably are." Roxanne agreed, looking over to study Ava for a moment. "Well, I guess this is farewell."
Ava finally got a good look at the other girl's face. Wow… she's hot… She blinked and looked away. "Yeah, I guess…"
"Interesting." Roxanne tilted her head, almost looking…curious. "You don't seem all too eager for me to leave."
Ava pressed her lips together, looking over at Roxy again. "Well… I think I'd like to get to know you a little more before you… take off."
"Oh, dear, that might not be the best idea for your sake." Roxanne said, leaning just a bit closer to Ava, as though ready to analyze her reaction.
She hardly flinched. Oh, you are so gay… "And why's that?"
"I'm not exactly the type of person pretty girl like you should be getting to know. Let's leave it at that." She said, tilting her head slightly.
"You don't know a thing about me," Ava challenged, leaning closer a bit as well.
"And yet, you might decide you like it better that way." Roxanne raised an eyebrow.
"You never know until you take the chance," she shot back smoothly.
"Mmmmm, I do like taking chances…." She mused, as though thinking.
Ava smirked. "And so do I."
