Cat looked confused at the note but rolled her eyes. "Hi," She said her voice holding no emotion.
Meghan was a little confused. She wrote below her greeting. My name is Meghan. What's yours?
"Cat," She said bluntly and not caring. "What's up with the writing?" She asked her leg already bouncing under the table.
I don't talk, Meghan wrote innocently. Do you know ASL?
Cat smirked silently. "I know three languages and hand speak isn't one," She said before pulling out her sketchbook.
Meghan frowned. It isn't called hand-speak. It's ASL. American Sign Language.
She looked up for a second when she heard the writing. "I know what its called, coglione," She swore in Italian after looking back down at her sketchbook. It was old and some of the pages were about to fall out but she flipped to a blank page.
Meghan faced forward again. She knew what the word meant. She looked down at her desktop and didn't look up.
Cat didn't look up from her sketchbook, happy that the girl finally left her alone.
Meghan bit her lip sadly. All she'd been trying to do was make friends. Miss Tammy tried to get Meghan's attention, but the girl wouldn't look up.
Jamie gasped as he tumbled into the drama classroom. Late, as always… he thought to himself as he took a seat wherever he could, which happened to be next to a bored looking girl with a sketchbook. He mentally groaned to himself, checking out his swollen and blackened eye in the reflection of his phone. "Am I too late?" He asked quietly to no one in particular.
At the new arrival, Meghan spared a glance. It became longer when she noticed his eye. Cautiously, she wrote and showed him. You're bit late. Is your eye okay?
He tilted his head at her and offered a smile. "Yes, it's just a little swollen. It'll go down. Is this the drama class?" His mood lifted then sank. He didn't know why he had signed up for this class. Maybe it was to learn how to hide his pain or how to hide his emotions?
Meghan nodded. You don't look happy to be here.
“I don’t like school in general.” He shrugged, sighing softly. “I’d rather be home.” Jamie flashed her a small smile. “What’s your name?”
Meghan, she wrote in her intricate cursive. She'd practice her name with calligraphy every day when she was bored, so she made it look easy with her screen and stylus.
Robin opened his notebook and minded no attention to the others in the room. He just started writing some trash story about a table. It made no sense but whatever.
Graye had accidentally zoned out in one of her silent panic attacks for the moment, but just snapped out of it. She noticed the room was more full than before. She saw a kid she knew as Jamie talking to Meghan. Then she noticed Cat. Her face turned into that of a protective mamma bear as she glared at Cat. 'If she so much as talks to Meghan the wrong way while I'm in focus….' Graye softly growled down at her paper, trying to calm down.
“I’m Jamie! You can call me Jam.” He chuckled at the nickname. It had been given to him during a class when they were watching something on jams and jelly. He found it amusing and took to it.
Finn looked around the room. He tried to see if he recognized anyone but no luck. He missed a lot of school last year when everything happened plus the rest of the year was spent trying to get his sister back. He didn’t have a lot of time to make friends.
Alyssa arrived to class late, as always. She had been hanging out with all of her 'friends' and catching up with them before classes started. She walked into the room with an air of confidence and sat down in any spot then took out her phone and texted her 'friends' like they mattered so much.
Graye calmed and looked up again. She spotted a black-haired boy up in the front of the class. By his appearance, he looked to play a sport. Football probably. She waved a hand to catch his attention, then smiled at him, patting the seat of the desk in front of her as an invitation.
Finn looked at the girl and smiled. He got up and sat down in front of the girl. He didn’t recognize her. “Hey I’m Finn.”
Graye held out a hand, grinning. "Graye. So you're a drama lover huh? You look like you'd be good on the stage." she said, quite sincerely. "Or are you planning on being a behind the scenes kinda guy?"
“I hope to be on stage. I’m too busy for any big parts tho so like a minor character,” he admitted. “How about you?”
“I’m Jamie! You can call me Jam.” He chuckled at the nickname. It had been given to him during a class when they were watching something on jams and jelly. He found it amusing and took to it.
Meghan smiled. She liked talking with Jamie – Jam – very much! So many people around her were talking.
(Is anyone going to be the Drama teacher?)
(If you want, I can. I'll just impersonate our one English teacher who runs the musical.)
Graye smiled and shrugged. "I do very minor parts when necessary, but I'm definitely an artist. I do most of the sets. That portrait behind the teacher's desk? I painted it."
Meghan overheard Graye say she painted the portrait behind the teacher's desk. She was curious, so she looked. It was so good!
(Could you please? ;)
