(Sure!)
Mr. Gielow bounced into the class room. "GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!" He was hyped up on his mixture of Mt. Dew and coffee. "Wow! We've got a big class!" He grabbed his chromebook and went up to the front of the class and quickly went through rollcall.
Meghan jumped. He was certainly a loud teacher…
(Oh ho… Meghan, you have no idea! XD XD)
Mr. Gielow finally put the computer away and clapped his hands loudly. "All righty everyone! Welcome to Drama!! I hope everyone's as excited as I am! Now, I'm going to pass out these syllabuses, and you need to have them signed by your parents or guardians and returned to me by Friday. Well, everyone except you, Finn. You're good." Gielow started passing out papers.
'Cause that'll go off without a hitch. Melody thought wryly, keeping her eyes on her phone as she listened to the teacher talk. Luckily, it didn't matter either way, because she could very easily just use the signature she'd come up with, and nobody would have any clue.
Meghan signed to Miss Tammy. What's a syllabus?
Miss Tammy shrugged. I'm not sure. Ask someone.
Well, not Cat. Meghan wrote with her stylus and showed it to Graye. What is a syllabus?
Graye smiled and explained softly, "A syllabus is basically a paper with an explanation of what you'll need for the year for the class, expectations, what disciplinary actions will be taken if a student acts up, and a little of what we'll be doing for the year."
Mr. Gielow called out, "If anyone has issues where their syllabus cannot be signed by a guardian, just talk to me after class and we can work something out."
Meghan looked over at Miss Tammy. The woman nodded and signed, We can talk to him later. Meghan smiled. Though Miss Tammy was her caretaker and translator, of sorts, she technically wasn't a legal guardian. And Meghan's parents…
Mr. Gielow pulled up a slide show and showed pics from previous years class and talked, explaining the different things that they had done in the past. "But every year's class is different. It's actually mostly student run, so it's up to you guys what we do this year!"
Meghan watched and listened, even though most other students weren't. She observed the pictures curiously.
Graye was grinning at the pictures, seeing pics of old friends of hers here and there, grinning at the camera and looking just absolutely goofy. She raised her hand.
"Yes Graye?"
"What play are we doing this year?"
"Well, that's up to you guys. Who wants to nominate an idea or play?"
Meghan had only gone out to see a play once, but she barely remembered it. She looked around, seeing who else might contribute.
Melody's eyes flickered up from her phone and around the room, and she rolled her eyes. "How 'bout a musical." She suggested, sounding somewhat uninterested.
Meghan noticed students begin to whisper quietly about the idea. It seemed to be popular.
Graye piped up, "But which one? There's so many good ones!"
Finn looked slightly uncomfortable when the teacher pointed him out. He hid it well with a smile when people started talking about Musicals. He liked musicals but he wasn't sure which one he should choose.
Cat just rolled her eyes. She hoped her foster parents would actually sign her stuff tonight. It's always a gamble. She heard them talking about musicals and scoffed.
Graye looked over to Finn. "Got any favorites?" She looked over at Meghan to include her in the question.
Finn thought for a second. "Heathers is nice. Not sure if they'd let us tho because of violence and stuff," He admitted.
I don't know many, the girl wrote and showed it to both Graye and Finn.
Graye thought about this. "Well. We could always create our own." She said loudly, then the room went dead silent.
Finn looked at the girl's paper and smiled kindly. ”There's a lot. I’ve only really had time to listen to some of the newer one, ” He said and signed at the same time. He then looked at Graye. ”that's a great idea!” he was still dining as he spoke.
(I haven't really been able to read this what has happened up until now)
The voices in the room rose again and Gielow was beaming. "Absolutely! Everyone create ideas and we'll go over them tomorrow." The bell rang shrilly. "CLASS DISMISSED!!"
(I haven't really been able to read this what has happened up until now)
(Ok, so the class is student run and now they were trying to decide what play they were going to do. They decided a musical. Then Graye suggested they create their own. So now, it's time for ideas!!)
Meghan winced at his volume. She looked over at Miss Tammy, who nodded. Meghan gathered her bag and hesitantly approached Mr. Gielow's desk.
Melody continued texting as she stood, grabbing her bag and picking through the students milling about, towards the teacher's desk. It would make things easier to just say her parents were out of town or something.
Meghan smiled at the other girl that approached.
Moldy glanced up from her phone, blinking as she made eye contact with the girl who'd sat behind her. "Hey." She greeted, lifting the hand holding her phone in a small wave.
Finn walked out of the room to his next class.
Cat stayed behind. She decided not to risk asking her guardians and too just come up with an excuse now.
And the other girl was Cat. Wonderful. Meghan still smiled at her too.
