"I'll try not to," She laughed softly. "Everything's so new, I just have to look at it all."

"That's understandable," He replied, pressing the button for the elevator, "I just don't want you getting scared over things…"

"Oh, I rarely get scared of things," Mickey replied, smiling brightly. "Even though there were many scaring things around."

He shrugged a shoulder and smiled a little, "Aight, I'll hold you too that, you know?" He raised a brow and stepped into the elevator.

She hesitated to walk in, but since Kai seemed fine with it she followed him in. "What is this…contraption?"

"It's an elevator. It's like stairs only… quicker and mechanical." Kai explained, pressing the button for his floor.

"Oh, that's so interesting!" She cried, looking around the small elevator. "Do you know how it works?"

Kai shook his head, "Nah, I don't. But I could look it up if you want me too?"

"How would you do that? Do you no longer have to send letters by crow?"

Again, he shook his head, "No, we don't. We have something called the internet which holds the answer to most questions."

"Oh, well that must be much more helpful than sending letters by crow," She giggled.

Kai smiled at her and then the doors of the elevator opened and he stepped out, "Yeah it is. Was it hard to put the messages on the crows?"

"No, not particularly," Mickey replied. "Although you would have to wait a few a few days for your letters to arrive."

Kai hummed in understanding and pulled his keys out of his pocket as they neared his door, "Damn, I'm glad we have email and text now."

"I have a question, Kai," Mickey started. "You said that I was a statue. There's normally legends surrounding statues, right? What's the one about me?"

Kai rubbed at the back of his neck, "Well, yours was that when the statue's soulmate touched them, they'd become human…"

She stopped where she was. "Soulmate?" She repeated as a question. "But…I already have a soulmate. Sure, he's not here anymore, he was from Lysander."

Kai just shrugged and looked down at the ground, "I'm… sorry that he's gone, but that was what the legend said."

Mickey's brow furrowed. "Are…are you sure?" She looked at him. "There's nothing…missing, maybe? Because that can't be right. Can it?"

Kai shook his head, "I've heard the story a hundred times. Whether it be from news reports, family, friends to small children, I'm not incorrect."

She sat, thinking about what she had just been told. Whether she realised that there were people around or if she didn't care was not made clear.

"Micky, you can't sit in the middle of the hall," He said gently walking back and crouching in front of her, "Come into my apartment, please."

She looked up at him, then realised where they were. "Sorry, I…there's just a lot running through my head right now."

"I understand," Kai took her hand and gently lifted her to the feet, "But you'd be more comfortable in a more private setting."

Mickey nodded, taking in what he was saying. "Yeah, yeah you're right."

Kai nodded and led her over to the door, opening it up and leading her inside. He brought her over to the couch.

She assumed that the item he was showing her was a seat of some sort, so she sat on it. Oh! It's squishy!

Kai smiled a little at her, "Do you want a drink of some sort?"

"Do you have Aspenian?" She asked, one of her favourite drinks as a child. "Or at least Littensp?"

The smile faded and he shook his head, "I… I don't know what that is… I'm sorry…"
