Alex jumped, landing lightly on Firiko's back.

Firiko closed his wings around the other, swerving into the trees as he picked up his pace.

Alex hunched down, burying his face in Firiko's back. Shouts could be heard from behind; a net shot at them, narrowly missing.

Firiko dodged the net, but barely, the roped catching on a coue of feathers, pulling them free as he ran.

There was more shouting. Alex gripped Firiko's fur tightly, terrified for their lives.

Firiko huffed, fjnally breaking out of the trees onto a plain. At the point he slowly spread their wings, taking off as quickly as possible, soon soaring high into the sky.

Alex dared to look down. Below them, a group of five men stared up from the forest edge. One seemed about to shoot a crossbow, but another stopped him. One motioned, and they sank into the shadows of the forest.

Firiko flew easily, his wings outstretched to their massive span.

"Thank you…" Alex whispered.

"No problem" said Firiko.

Alex twirled his fingers in Firiko's fur.

Firiko growled slightly, though it resembled a purr.

Alex then threw his hands in the air, smiling.

Firiko kept his flight steady for the other, dropping Alitude just a little.

Alex was back to being a ball of sunshine, a huge smile of joy on his face.

Firiko had to resist the urge to laugh, he didn't know how the other could remain so cheerful.

"WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Firiko laughed, this guy was truly awe inspiring.

(You should see him on the battlefield)
This is the only way I can think to describe this moment:
Close up on Alex's smiling face, silver hair waving in the breeze. Eyes half closed, head tilted back.
"This is awesome!"

Alex finally put his arms down.

Firiko smiled when he did, finally dove a bit lower.

Alex couldn't stop himself from smiling; this was just like with Miss Hinata!

Firiko flew low over the trees, resisting the urge to fly through them.

The look of pure joy on Alex's face said it all.

Firiko couldn't help but smile too… he loved flying.q

Alex pointed at something in the distance. Again, it was the mountain. It was closer now, but not by much.
"We've made so much progress!"

Firiko wanted to gape at him.

Alex continued smiling, seemingly unable to be cheerful.
