"I'll be fine," she hissed, wincing. "I'll most likely heal. I've had worse injuries."
"I'll be fine," she hissed, wincing. "I'll most likely heal. I've had worse injuries."
"I understand that," Kye grabbed her arm to keep her from walking away. "But, if your wound is treated now, then you'll heal faster. And that way, if any other injuries occur we won't have to worry about more than one."
Hunter glared at him. She was close to… but no. She had to. She sighed. "I'll be fine. We need to find Order, and quickly."
"And we can do that faster, if you let me treat that," Kye was persistent. He was able to keep his voice level as well. His will power was incredibly strong, and he wasn't afraid to get hurt.
"No," she said. "You are not treating me." She hurt all over, but was too proud to admit it.
"I'm not changing my mind. And I'm not going anywhere, until you stop being stubborn," Kye stood stalk still.
"Then fine," Hunter said. "I'll go myself."
This is a bad idea.
Kye put his torch out, letting pitch black settle on them. "Just watch out for the rock jutting from the ceiling."
Hunter rolled her eyes. She walked off. Soon, she couldn't hear Kye.
A hissing noise filled the dark cavern.
Kye seemed to sound right next to Hunter. "And that, there's also that."
Hunter ignored him. She tilted her head to the side, listening, then cursed. "He knows we're here."
"Good for him," Kye didn't sound impressed. "You're about to walk over the side of a cliff."
Hunter rolled her eyes. "I'd survive. I wouldn't even hit the ground." She rubbed her face. She was getting light-headed from the loss of blood, but wasn't about to show it.
Kye lit his torch to reveal a chasm, leading down into a black void, directly in front of her. "I'd say, that goes down about… 600 yards. Give or a few feet."
Hunter shrugged. "So?" An arrow came whizzing through the passage, from the way they had come. She narrowly avoided it, but the effort made her snarl in pain as her wounds were jerked.
Kye had his torch jammed into a rock, and his dagger out almost instantly. "Friends of yours?" He asked. He looked to where the arrow came from.
"Most likely," she winced.
"Should I welcome them to my turf?" He asked keeping his eyes fixed on where the arrow came from.
"If you want." Hunter sat on a rock, her eyes tight shut and hands clenched.
Hunter barely finished before the light vanished. Kye's laugh echoed around the cave seeming to come from every direction. The cave was pitch black again.
A thump. Hunter's mouth was covered, holding back her screams. Soon, she was gone, the only evidence that she was there the blood.
Kye was silent. Perched on the ceiling. He heard the sounds of a struggle. A cold dread took hold of him. He'd left Hunter alone. You idiot. He jumped down and found where Hunter had been. She was gone.
Hunter squinted her eyes in the bright light. A laugh was heard, and she stiffened.
Kye's head shot up, his sharp ears picked a different sound. A faint laugh. He followed it silently.
"Well well well," a dark voice said. "If it isn't the little Princess. How are your daddy issues going? Bad?"
Hunter scowled, but couldn't move from the floor. Her limbs were stiff and cold, and it was hard to think.
Kye definitely heard voices that time. He moved farther along the cave. In his silence he could hear anything around him for miles. That also meant that the voices could be a long ways off, which could be bad.
"Keep your nose in your own fucking business," Hunter snarled.
"But Princess," the voice said, in mock sympathy. "it is my business. You, of all people, should know."
Kye came to a halt, suddenly. He was being tailed. He couldn't hear them or see them, but he could feel them. He could also see a faint light up ahead.
"Then show yourself," Hunter said mockingly. "Or are you too cowardly?"
A shape stepped into the light. It was a person, or sort of. It looked like Hunter, but more masculine, and had tentacles instead of arms, and bright gold eyes.
"Hello, cousin," the thing snarled, a cruel smile on its misshapen face.
"Koalemos," she said.
Kye shook his tail easily, sending then in the wrong way, while he moved towards the light. He kept to the shadows though.
